  • Back inthe 60s, I fell in love with this young lady, Sandra has a beautiful voice and a Beautiful young lady. She still makes my heart miss a beat.............

  • I Love it -3

  • never thought i would find a 60s song i dont like

  • Sexy voice and beautiful music make this sound so beautiful to listen to. I loved to listen to her, Dusy Springfield, Petula Clark, and Marriane Faith. Those were good days.

  • I was often listening this music in Japan maybe 44 years ago, but it was an instrumental version .

Not knowing the name of song, I hummed a melody on my iPhone "midomi" , and found this page.

  • Saw her on Jools too! WOW (is it me?)

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ☻☻☻ ☺☺☺ ♣♣♣♣♣♣ ♦♦♦♦

  • PUPPET ON A STRING!!! WOEHOOOOE

  • Love it !!!

  • she deserved to win eurovision that year

  • I'm just watching Sandie Shaw on the Jools Holland show - she looks fabulous for a 64 year old

  • O refrão... o refrão é que acende as m/ memórias.

    K cena!!! Bgd

  • lmfaoooooooooooooo brilliant

  • i straight away thought of Mr. Squiggle.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • reminds me of being tiny and my nan playing it :3

  • cute song.

  • I was 7 and loved this song !

  • Tai uma bonita canção.

Também vertida para o português, cantada por Ed Carlos.

    Gosto das duas interpretações.

  • This girl was a 60s icon with a talent she was and still is a stunner a real english rose i wish i was back in the 60s Carnaby st and the old kings road boy do i miss you

  • My life is complete.

  • funny thing is Sandie Hated this song!

  • @jemmytaveras yes. i read that somewhere though seems happy here.

  • @disjoinedchip2

well that's how things were in the 60's you needed to pretend but she hates the song (even though it saved her career)

  • my mum knows the words! awww

  • she calls the song/it's lyrics "sexist" nowadays

  • Dedicated to my exHusband and his Friend, haha, Now Who is the Puppet!!!

  • la chanteuse aux pieds nus !!!

    trop beau

  • this shows there was some fab music the year i was born

  • It is my FIRST record, i was EIGHT years. Love that, love now!

Was a legend: Sandy broke heal on one shoe near before start, and take away both shoes ( live on air at that time, no time to setup ) and sing. Newspaper call: Barefoot Sandy!

  • The lyrics seem to suggest that she suffers from some bipolar disorder. However, it won the Euro Song contest, so....

  • The Spanish version of this song " Marionetas en la cuerda", sounds pretty good too.

  • Awesome song! But why does it cut off at the end?? :O

    Bit of an anti-climax :(

  • That's why my first name is Sandy :D

  • Gostei muito .

Também essa canção foi vertida para o português, numa versão da Lilian Knapp (Leno e Lilian) e gravada por Ed Carlos na época da Jovem Guarda e foi o maior sucesso do Ed.

  • nice!!!)))

  • Sandy was a sixties icon. And I could watch her forever.

  • Like a muppet on a thing!!hahaha

  • this is one of the great songs of the time

  • Thanks olenka54 for this rare clip. I was only vaguely aware of this song--this clip brings it home. Actually a well crafted, well produced and well sung pop song.

  • Agree with above comment. All female artist became 'victims' of the british invasion and HELEN SHAPIRO was far the best femal singer of the sixties.

  • my music&drama teacher

made me listen to this song!! D:

  • Keep the music coming!!! Its the only thing keeping me alive!!! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Sings way more in tune here than on the recorded version. The single version is really unlistenable. (Although this does look like a previously-recorded "live" take). Perfect swinging-sixties time capsule.

  • So she beat Raphael????....I guess the voting on talent shows was just as rigged back then as American Idol is today.

  • All these British 60's and 70's pop songs by non-band, mostly female artists became 'victims' of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and other British Invasion bands and never received the recognition they deserved

  • So 44 years have passed and people are watching this. That could only meen 1 thing...This song is bloody perfect!!! i love it <333

  • @nemanjanjic16 or people just heard about from some referance and want to see it.. i personally thing this is really crappy, like most british stuff

  • im suprised this ahsnt been done yet on BGT?

  • I love Sandie but she's dead right about this being a shit song.

  • This is the best of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967.Sandy Shaw whas the thirst one.Sandy Shaw have more hit-matirial recouverd of Burt Bacharach. She had a great preformance.I know now on this moment not enything about her, where she lived and what are she whas doing on this moment. When she live now she hat the age of 65 ore 67 years.

  • @Gerard3795 Which contry did she compete for?

  • @blessmeish United Kingdom

  • @StarryVision ok, thanks

  • @Gerard3795 Dionne Warwick, and Dusty Springfield wher the ones who recorded mostly for Burt Bacharach

  • 1967: Da war ich 4 Jahre alt.... und ich habe das Lied nie vergessen.

  • suuuuuper

  • Why is this video widescreen. The format appears to be 4:3 and how difficult is it to sync the sound track to the video?

  • check ANGGUN persion heheh cool

  • This song is 2:12 too long.

  • i really like this song. really, but this woman just cant sing. she just messed up so many times in this video, i cant stand it.

  • I've got this on my iPod and i'm only 12, sad isn't it? XD

  • @StarryVision

    NOT AT ALL !

  • @MrTriac No? Oh ok then :D

  • Saw her live tonight with Jools Holland, in her own words she managed to make the song "grown-up" tonight, she was amazing, drunk but amazing

  • @StargateAdventures

you werent by any chance at The Millenium Forum ? I thought she did well, but thought too she was a bit spaced out.....

  • @georginaharman I was indeed and yeah definately spaced out, but it's amazing after all these years her voice has remain unchanging

  • @StargateAdventures not so much now

  • Lol mah grandma learned us ppl at mah skwl this song LOL awesome song ppl love it !

  • It was a delightful tune - and, not having had TV back in the 60's, it is nice to finally see the vid... so thanks for sharing

  • crap

  • @WeRegretToInformU007: The crap is you.

  • Judith Durham should have covered this.

  • Wonderful to see this song on here, can remember this song being sung via guitar at our family parties... Those were the days alright!!!

  • It's ok, but Sandy Shaw did not dance, or wear a puppet costume. See Johnthesong in full flight, singing and dancing his puppet dance and in a puppet costume."Puppet on a String".

    Pure genious.

  • I've heard that she hated that song, but was greatful cause earned a lot of money with it.It's a silly song but catchy,

  • i remember lily allen sampled this for her song alfie (:

  • simply wonderful, it makes me remember when I was young!!!!

  • Mantovani and Paul Mauriat both did instrumental versions of this song. But who(of these three artists, including Shaw) did it first? Perhaps Mantovani's instrumental is the original?

    If anyone knows please reply.

Mantovani's was the version I grew up with, since I listened to a lot of easy listening stations. I never knew this song had words until early this year, Ms. Shaw's version is new to me

Both records are good in their own way.

  • She WINN with this. Best, no effects, no plastic surgery. Real!

  • My favourite song when I was 1 year old.

Thank you soooooo much !!!! All Puppets Up !!! :))

  • this reminds me of expo 67.a proust moment if you will.

  • Nem tudja valaki hogy ki énekelte a Paprikajancsi cimú számot magyar nyelven?

  • Herzlichen Glückwunsch für Sandy zum 64. Geburtstag heute.

  • Its a great Song. ;D

  • cookoo clock

  • Con toda la tecnologia que existe ahora para hacer musica ....ni siquiera se acerca a esta y tantas otras maravillas musicales de aquella epoca ....

  • Music without messages satanic like now!!!

  • Hahahahaha

  • A nice version exists in Spanish, of this precious song.

    /watch?v=TxdaDnrj3sY

  • I'd like to dedicate this to :

    Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran)

    Hamid Karzai (Afghanistan)

    Mohamed Mubarak (Egypt)

And anyone else i've missed out.....

  • Wonderful posting, thank you! About 4 years before this -- and many other hits of the Swingin' '60-s -- had become famous, I was merely developing eyelids, so to say. But they will stay with me forever. I'll never give up on the 60-s!

  • that was at least a real SONG contest and not a SHOWndMEDIAor whatever contest!

    nice song =)

  • either vid and audia arent in sync, or it was poorly lipsynced

  • THANKS IAIN FOR THE SHARE: Really enjoyed this one. C.W.

  • My mum used to dance to this. She used to make herself look like a puppet with the jerky arm movements and steps. It was wonderful. Miss you mum. Miss those happier days.

  • great memories for me when kids had birthday parties with pass the parcel with news paper wrappings. lol. Warm summers....

  • the worst song sandie ever sang--a piece of trivial fluff written for her to win the '67 euro song contest in the days before it became a national groupings fit up-hence the euro oompa oompa-she did so many great songs..ignore this lightweight trash-its in the same low league as lulu doing oom bang a bang...also a eurovision winner!..why does the ESC attract such mediocrity??????

  • @tim60s321 I guess that mediocrity and fluff is all in the eyes of the beholder and given the popularity of this song in it's day, the majority gave it a resounding thumbs up!!

Much better to simply acknowledge that a particular song did not appeal to one's taste rather than try to rationalize and dismiss it as fluff.

  • haha, I did a production at primary 4 this. lol

  • I like a

  • Moja młodość.

  • @cunnilicker - Try searching here for dBm1h3LOD7Q to see what "the deprived" listened to a year before that.

  • love this song

  • penis?

  • Pathetic 16:9 or 16: 10 version of an old 4:3 clip. Sandi looks like fat pig.

MP4 is the way to go. Apple donated their patents, and MP4 is growing. Problem is that if you convert from flv to mp4 you usually loose quality.

Be aware people, these guys, Youtube, Adobe (flv) are after your cash. There will be a point I think, when you will have to pay for Youtube.

Adobe's flash format will stop you downloading to your mp4 phone or pad or netbook..

    Happy Chritmas!

  • @Bilou5404

Yes I think the AR thing is important as well: If you have old TV footage (from before the late 90's) then it WILL be in 4:3. If in doubt, 4:3 it. If it looks wrong, you can always re-do it.

  • An average song really that was made great by Sandies extraordinary delivery.

  • wird die verfolgt oder so? ahhhhhhhhh xD

  • She's a really nice lady, too. What a fabulous song.

  • que de souvenirs reviennent avec cette merveilleuse Sandie Shaw , j etais un fan

  • This song is jarring.

  • merveilleux ........ de bons souvenirs de ma jeunesse

  • how fit was sandie shaw

  • Sandy, me haces soñar, tu mes has enseñado que en las mas pequeñas cosas de la vida hay que disfrutarlas con amor besos.

  • that is some dress shes wearing

  • SS HATED this song - it was in a programme I saw on TV - she laughed her way through it because she thought it was ridiculous, ruined her credibility, or some sh*t like that.

I mean, where was her National Pride, FFS???

  • they were the days , the innocence . the world was predictable and freedom and liberty were still fashionable and very much vogue . how fast things can change now we have the opposite . the yin and yang . but without one , one cannot appreciate the other for universal law is a balance between the two . dark and light , night and day , good and evil , the cheques on a chess board , love and hate . yin and i both universal elements that help us discover our true spiritual identities .

  • I'm still lost in the 60's........Leave me alone, I'm not complaining.

  • EUROVISION WINNER 1967

  • This song makes me happy!

  • OMG - I just travelled back in time 43 years!

  • 60's women had such style and class. I wish I was alive then...

  • oh, great! Now I'll have this song going through my head all day! Love it!

  • people was so stupid at those times these kind of songs tell all about it

  • Love this!!

  • hope she bought some shoes with the money from this song.

  • @1mrkatu I think she bought the store LOL

  • esto le ganò a raphael ??? whats ??? no no no el jurado estaba fumado !!! raphael beat that can not be !!

  • @ Bentzworld. I agree. I Love british music very much. In fact, I live in Britain.

  • Yep, Britain in the 60's produced so good music... In fact, was the begining of a new wave in music.

  • @Chrispipa not just the 60s. britain kept producing amazing music afterwards. and even today, the quality is undeniable. and even when they produce cheesy stuff, it's still highly enjoyable. Love the UK!

  • Yep, Britain in the 60's produced so good music... In fact, was the begining of a new wave in music.

  • I think Cannibal Corpse should do a cover version of this song.

  • O.K. Sandie..."We love you madly"...

  • i'd fuck her but she would be in her 70's or 80's now. bet she would still push back hard.

  • @genocideisnice She's actually 63, and still a good-looking woman.

  • There's no music like the one of the 60s and early 70s...Miss it. Too much hip hop, rap and raggeton junk. Pitty.

  • great stuff! have you seen sandie recently? she's still totally gorgeous & very sexy indeed!

  • Its the ultimate favorite for me. i grew up listening to it.

  • Old is Gold. Soon old may be platinum.

  • Check out the fact, she sang in bare feet :)...as in this video

  • Try getting that one out of your head!

  • at school our school is being rebuilt so we did a 6os tribute because thats wen our school opend and i wass sandy shore im girl on my cousins profile lol

  • 60s, 70s and 80s were great decades for music, I think.

  • fuck todays music I'm in love with 60's

  • @thegreatestg you are sooooo right

  • @thegreatestg

Most of the good stuff is Indie and alternative. There's a few chicks doing the '60s pop thing updated: Amy Winehouse, Adele, Duffy, Estelle, Shelby Lynne's Dusty S. Tribute album and the great Sharon Jones & The Daps Kings for example.

  • @thegreatestg wtf you must be gay? you complete faggot! you must hate todays music because you listen to all that metal shit! bruv start listening to grime u dickhead

  • @docksdrg metal is generally enjoyed by people of higher intelligence

with a greater understanding of music theory

  • @mastodonseven

well, metal isnt really famous for his smart followers

but compared to docksdrg advice "grime" i feel like a genius

  • @docksdrg

Metal is epic! Its like the main genre in most of Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. And today's music isn't great I mean Justin Bieber come on he's like a massive fail, Jonas knobs and then you have that lesbian Hannah Montana (I can say Lesbian because I am one) And don't even get me started on that fag Rebecca Black. sadly the music industry has taken a down fall. From bands like ABBA to bands like JLS. People wonder why Benny Anderson or Anni-Frid Lyngstad don't sing anymore.

  • ok i did this in the choir last year- Kids Choir Taupo hilltop school- it was our warm up- i sung with a famous lady..... well its a NZ lady u should know who but anyways... ok it was Susan Prentice (is it spelt right?) oh im 10 years old!!!

  • It is about a domestic abuse relationship, no doubt about it. Such things were hidden i n the 60s so good on you, Sandie. Wonder what caused it to be written.

  • how did this win eurovision? bleh this is terrible. love is blue is so much better. that damn wood block makes it sound like a fuckin christmas carol

  • and she's a great actress too she was send to ESC while she didn't want to and she hated the song

but i love the song so happy she did it anyway

  • @jenst92 Shes not the only one who hates it .This song makes me angry for some strange reason

  • A bit like Helen Shapiro footwear wise, but fab still.

  • mad how things change,, this is music..britain at its best then..now uk is finished

  • KILLER CHEEKIE BONES ! X

  • lol... we cared for this song at school and had only the text. and i thought, thats a sad song, because of the lyrics but this is... so happy... i just can't stop laughing... but she sings beautiful =D

  • in spain this song was a real hit too. maybe its the first melody that i remember (i was born in dec 1963)

  • Sandie Shaw has a song called Run that is such a great song..find it if you can

  • the good old days

  • I love this song very much. First time I heard this song, when my parents brought this LP form Londo in 1967. Still I like this song very much.

  • Oh Sandie! Put your shoes back on, & tell that damn irratating wooden block player to knock it off!

  • thanks paul this is brilliant & takes me back, love this track...ann

  • Yes, she wouldn't wear any shoes on stage. That was her trade mark, but I never knew why. Brilliant singer, brilliant song.

  • @locomotive1804 Sandie Shaw performed barefoot on stage, from what I know, similar to how Joss Stone does it today.

  • This reminds me of my Mum who used to sing it when I was small. Even though it was a very long time ago I can remember clearly her singing this as she did her housework....

  • HEY...This is a classic...1967 not fkn 2010

..give it a rest puta madre...?

  • When England acctually won the Eurovision!

  • @flyelal And aren't we aware of that fact. ;)

  • she sings not bad
