Thankfully, this was the only time they used this technique on Sesame Street; must've had too many letters saying it scared the kids out of their wits. I know it did me!
I still have a hard time watching this today! What were they thinking? I recall almost being too scared to watch, but it was sickly fascinating, too. I didn't like a lot of the animation on Sesame Street when I was little. Today, I still don't like a lot of 70s and 80s animation that feels "under the influence". I think this stuff is more effective drug education than the D.A.R.E program.
You can tell the people at Sesame Workshop were on some heavy stuff when they made this stuff. Who knows what they smoked. After all, it was the 1970s
@Akira625 It sure sounds a lot like "Rosko", as do the "count of 4", "Queen of 6", & "King of 8". Check out an upload called: William "Rosko" Mercer - Peacemaker (1973).
Could anyone upload Jim Henson singing "I'm Nobody" on MIKE DOUGLAS?

this segment scared the dog out of me when I was watching it as a kid. Now I like this so much. Thanks You-tube

I liked this when I was small. I liked all the "psychadelic" ones, because it involved imagination, unlike the bland staleness that's made today.
Unfortunately, with seizures, I can see why.

I liked this when I saw this when I was young. I liked his voice I remember. =]

Sesame Street was brought to you by the letters "L", "S" , and "D" and the numbers 4, 2, and 0.

I don't recall ever really being creeped out by the face, but the explosion after counting the dots (1:09) may have scared me as a kid.

Very cool, always loved it! You'll never guess who this guy reminds me of: Maestro Forte on Beauty & the Beast-- The Enchanted Christmas!

the rubberband face reminds me of the ghost alien ''Nagelum'' from the STAR TREK; THE NEXT GENERATION season two episode'' WHERE SILENCE HAS LEASE''

Man they made some funky stuff, when I saw this as a kid many, many years ago, I thought the rubber band guy got shot, after he says "that's 10"

I can hardly wait to see a clip where numbers 1-9 get zapped in space as offscreen kids count in Spanish.

I just vaguely remember this. VERY far out and original.

What's your source? That's a white guy's voice! Peace.

@MuzikJunkyAES I'm almost positive that this is the voice of William "Rosko" Mercer.

It's funny, I don't remember ever being scared of this one when I was little. Maybe it had something to do with the narrator's soothing voice.
