  • Hey I'm just wondering is musicians friend a reliable website cause I'm probably going to get an Epiphone Les Paul pro fx from there. I have seen your videos of the Les Paul pro fx and i went to a music shop and played it and loved it.

  • @middyacdc Musicians Friends is own by Guitar Center They Have Never Let me Down If you Find a Cheaper Price on The Web ust Call Them and They will Match The Price - Charles

  • wtf AHAHAHHAAHHHAHA how about playing something with actuall distortion instead of failing stairway to heaven

  • @gibsonUSA353533 Thank you I glad you like it - Charles

  • Neither i love my PRS Tremonti SC, but i get the test. You dont need brand name to get the sound.

  • Epiphone has a warmer sound, but the drive has a nice sound as well. Epiphone for me.

  • Epiphone

  • the epiphone

  • If u ask me the epiphone is better but the drive is cool to.The two guitars are perfect for begginers :P

  • I can tell you the Epi sound was more crisp. Either one are great beginner guitars. Serious will always invest in A Gibson or American fender. Perhaps a Gretsch. G&L and Reverend make class guitars that rival big names. try one.

  • the epiphone got a better tone an sound than the drive! it sustains for a lot longeran got more of a bluessy sound

  • it is hard to tell the difference.

The epiphone sounds better, because it deeper. not lower... deeper.

  • the epihone les pauls are hard to get used to when your playing a strat or a bigger scale guitar for a few months

  • Thansk for stopping by I havent played my epi in a while I'm enjoying my Ibanez -- Charles

  • i find that the epiphone has deeper sound and the sound quality is richer

the first one was very sharp in its notes and more staccato'd. the sound does not sound as rich, you can hear it sounds cheaper while the mids are decent mediocre, the epiphone definitely has the richer sound

i play violin as well but i definitely feel the epiphone has its pluses to the 100 dollar no name

but thats my opinion right =T

  • Thanks for stopping by -- Charles

  • the first one sounds better

  • Thanks for the comment and Stopping By -- Charles

  • charles you have to tell me what program you are using nice backgrounds james

  • I got two that I used on this one Studio 10 by Pinnacle 175$ and then I also use Movie Magic version 11 was Free asfter Rebate when compusa

went out of business if i had to buy one again I think I would buy Sony Vegas it suppose to be better but I already Blew my money on these two -- Thanks for the Comments -- Charles

  • i know from personal experience that that epiphone is one of the coolest best sounding guitars ive ever owned, I own like six guitars . an ibanez artcore. squirebullet and affinity strats. ibanez tcy10 acoustic, another ibanez genirc(my starter guitar) a dot studio and of course this les. im more partial to the fender tone myself. to me its blusier. but as far as heavy and warm tones go nothing i own . or played really matches the epi les. but your guitar both great for different sounds

  • Thanks for the comment make a video of your Guitars and link it to this one -- Charles

  • THE Epiphone SOUNDS WAY BETTER IT IS WORTH THE MONEY AND ASWOME VIDEO

  • Shannon232323 Thanks for the Comment and Stopping by Make a video and put it up as link to this one -- Charles

  • of course the epi is worth the extra money, you just cant beat a les paul. However the Drive suprised me, i always took them for crappers but yours sounded good. PS nice vid

  • Thanks for stopping by I h ad a couple of people tell me that because of my amp micro cube it will process any guitar and kinda make it sound better than it really does What do you think is the sound more from the amp than the Guitar -- Charles

  • Your Probably getting a lot of your sound from the guitar. Did you use any pedals in this vid? I thought i heard Flanger and Reverb

  • I did not use a pedal I user the built in reverb and phaser of the MicrCube -- Charles

    Thanks for the comment

  • i like the epi better

  • Is it worth the money? Hell YES. You get Epiphone's heritage

The Epiphone Pups sound better (wider more middle eq sound). If you like how a guitar feels. You are $30 away from Epiphone or $250 from Gibson sound (get their Pups).

I have a LesPaul Standard plus top. And I can't get over how it feels.(I also love my skinny hot Ibanez and my mean scalloped $160.00 Warlock) Again music is about feelings. Money is never related to feelings.

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting -- Charles

  • The epi silverburst custom definitely looks and sounds better, although it is a bit more expensive

  • It a Great Sounding and Playing guitar Its worth it -- Charles

  • snowflakes?

  • Even in July!!!!

  • The Epi sounds A little bit better, The Drive IS not A very Nice sound, The Epiphone Has a Bluesy Tone That Is Loved In My Brain..

  • Thank for the Comment play your guitar and post video reply on this one -- Charles

  • i have an epiphone invader but they r imposible to find a picture of on the internet.

  • I dont think I've seen a invader take a video of you and your guitar and post it ina reply -- Charles

  • Im think about getting the Epiphone silver burst Les paul so this really helped me alot. Thanks

  • Thanks for stoping bye and commenting when you get your Epi link a video to this one -- Charles

  • he is sitting on the hood of his car! i know its fake lol..but yeah i like the epi better, which that might be b/c im a big Gibson fan

  • I'm thining about getting some used Epiphone sc-400 pickups to put in my 99.00 Drive to see if it will sound better what do you think? -- Charles

  • i don't know..that all depends on wut kinda music u like..i personally think that some emg's would do the trick, emg 81 near the bridge and 85 at the neck

  • I think that you got it made if those are good quality.....I got a $400 epiphone and but some gibson 57 classic humbuckers in it, and I played the most expencive gibson, and they sounded of the same quality!!! I hope it sounds great!!!

  • i think the epi has more tonal quality

  • Better sound for more Wood -- Thanks for the Comment -- Charles

  • i own one silver Burst and i prefer it over my fender highwayone for heavy tones .. but i play it through a vox ad 50 vt .. if u want a guitar to sound heavy and clean i prefer using pedals to make the sound.. but i prefer the silver burst

  • hmmmm.....toughey......spend $100 and get a new set of humbukers, and either will sound like a $10000 gibson!!!

  • Thanks for Stopping by and taking the time to Comment -- Charles

  • Drive hey check out kramer and michael kelly at musicions friend.

  • Thanks for the info -- Charles

  • i own a strat and a epi les paul both are awesome but two totally different sounds..just like my modded hot rod deluxe fender amp or my mesa boogie maverick two tube amps both awesome but diff. what you hear is a 100 dollar sound or a several hundred dollar sound...real question is which do YOU like?

  • I really changed my mind on which guitars I like now - I am really likeing the SuperStrats Style My Fav now is a Jackson DR3

    -- Charles

  • Well if the $100.00 drive, sounds great, as does the Epiphone, and i like the looks of the drive, Floyyd Rose and i bet it would really hook. "Doc"

  • Thanks for the Comment Your off to a good start on your YouTube Channel it looks Great -- Charles

  • Borrow a coat man; it's snowing!

  • just a not on "real" gibsons-On nearly all gibsons the scale length from the nut to 12th fret = 24.562...but the scale length above the 12th fret = 24.75.

This means OK intonation from the nut to 12th fret but above the 12th fret it will be off -at 22nd fret the error is 0.04 epis and cheaper copies dont have this error. Tuning errors on the epi can be fixed but the Gibson will ALWAYS have intonation problems.

  • go with epiphone where did the snow come from

  • The falling snow was computer generated but the snow on the road was real I was driving back from Amarillo and stopped in the middle of the road and snapped a picture... Thanks for the comment -- Charles

  • Oh...and I would go with the Epiphone.

  • Cool shirt man, Pepsi!

  • Thanks for Stopping by -- Charles

  • Thanks a bunch for sharing!

The first certainly has a bite (being unfortunate for me ... because my eye's been on the latter model for some time), but I find the latter a bit more dynamic in its capability. Still, they're very comparable under your tuning. I found I actually 'preferred' the Drive X3 on occasion. I can say it sure barrages the Fender Starcaster at my side.

  • epi is better

  • the X3 is clearer and brighter (overal even tone)

the Epiphone sounds out of tune, fatter but sometimes muddy and gurgly (if thats a word)

my honest and ignorant .02 cents

    chris

  • the banner is really anoying, but i think your paying for 2 diffrent guitars people who want a proper les paul and just started or cant affort a real gibson

  • Sorry about the banner but It tells a story

The Epi is the Best But for a 99$ guitar you can beat the Drive -- Charles

  • yer sos for bein an ass but you could of made it a bit smaller.

ok assness aside its two diffrent levels of the guitar out of 3

    1 value (drive)

    2 standerd (epiphone)

3 top of the line (gibson and feender)

  • Now Who's being what? But I guess that why your afraid and only let your friend comment on your channel because you want to be a Ass on other people's stuff... but everyone here is allowed to give your openion and thats what you did Thanks for the comment but not for the tude!!!! Charles

  • friend? o well just for get it :P

  • The Les Paul by Epiphone is better, although the cheapo has its merits. Is the EPI worth the extra money? As time goes by, you'll see that it is. I have the Ebony one and I absolutely love it. Sometimes you can find a GREAT cheap (by price) guitar for around $100 (like Washburn) and it's a good knock-around guitar, but the overall build quality and durability of the EPI will probably be the most impressive.

  • Thanks for the Comment -- Charles

  • Clearly, the epi has the cleaner attack and tone and a great the sound. The cheapie has its place for some down and dirty fun. You clearly like playing it.

PS: love your video matte. how do you do that?

  • Thanks for the Comment-- I use Studio 10 from Pinnacle to green screen I need better lighting to get the mix better -- Charles

  • Use a slightly orange backlight to give your body an outline that's opposite the green. You should then stand out without the tearing of your foreground image.

It's groovy--put some NASCAR behind you when you're shredding!

  • Good test, great playing.

I prefer the tones of the Drive.

  • the epi is alot better imo. cleaner sound and warmer tone. $99 as a learning piece isnt bad either for the drive, but the build quality and material is obviously going to be better in the mid level guitar(epiphone). however u need more practice on stairway haha, stop muting the damn strings haha. i sometimes deaden the strings too so its all love lol. but perfect practice makes for perfect playing on utube lololol.

  • Thanks for the comments I got a guitar with a bigger neck and it a little easier to play with my short stubby fingers - Charles

  • man nobody knows anything on here? It's not about how it sounds clean it's what the model is made for... Any band you can name that uses A les paul either has distortion or overdrive that's what makes the guitar stand out so much... play that $99 guitar with distortion you'll blow the thing up lol

  • Thanks for Stopping by and Commenting -- Charles

  • This is asinine. It's not the sound quality, it's the look that your buying. The most important thing for good sound quality is good strings, good pick-ups, and a good amp. And any guitar with humbuckers sounds the same out of a minicube.

  • I did not know that a microcube changes sound that much I've tried them through my Gibson and Legend and the sound close their also Thanks for the commment -- Charles

  • Its the Epi for me man. But I am biased - I do love the les pauls - I have 3

  • I thought so to but since I gotten the SuperStrats style guitar my mind is leaning to them but it might be because of the newness-- Charles

  • Dude... you must have been cold out playing guitar in the snow.... (I know...not real)

I have an Epi Les Paul and a Drive Wildfire bass that I got for $59! I'll tell you what - It's not a bad bass.

Bottom line to me is, they both sound good - It's all a matter of the tone that you want at the time.

  • I agree Thanks for the Comment Check out the Fender / Peavey Video I Did -- Charles

  • I preferred the Epiphone but there wasn't a massive difference as far as i could tell. That cheap Drive guitar still sounded pretty damn good to me. I think that a lot of people are a bit snobby when it comes to guitars and brand names, they automatically think more expensive & popular brand = better guitar

I have a Vintage VS6 (SG style and cheaper than epiphone) with a Micro cube and it sounds fantastic

  • Thanks for the Comment -- Charles

I Love my Roland MicroCube Also

  • Epiphone for me, but that doesn't mean the drive is a bad guitar, i'm a owner of a Phil Pro sfmx15 or something like that, it looks like a strato caster, and i don't smash it on the ground because it costed me money xD

I bet not many of you know that brand, well, you're not missing anything at all xD

  • Thanks for the comment -- Charles

Post a Video of your Guitar

  • Epiphone FTW!!

  • Thanks for the Comment -- Epi is Winning

  • comparing two vastly different guitars...compare the epip to a micheal kelly les paul...or atleast something somewhere in the same price range and play style.

  • At the time it was the only two guitars I had now I have added a Fender M-77(Les Paul) and Starfire(335 like)... But mostly I was just want to show a 99.00 Guitar that not as Junk as a person would thing -- Thanks for stopping by and Great Comment -- Charles

  • i actually prefer the drive x3 but im not 100% sure

  • Thanks for stopping by -- Sometimes I like it too -- Hey I seen you had no subscriptions so I subscribed to You -- Charles

  • hey there charles i was wondering is your epiphone les paul silverburst light? and does it have like a thin slim taper 60s neck or close to it. the reason i ask this is cause one day i was at sam ash and i tried out this les paul custom in black and i liked it right away it was light and had that slim neck. so i figured all the les paul customs are the same but different in color. thanks.

    -Albert

  • Albert I just weight it on the scale and it weight 7 pounds it does not feel heavy I am not sure about the neck because I dont know what a 60 neck looks like but its feels great to me I can easily wrap my fingers around the neck and nut....-- Charles

  • I believe the Ephiphone was better, and sounded better all around. It has a better material component, which gives it a better sound altogether with the pick-ups and such. It looks nicer too, lol.

  • Thanks for stopping by I just won a Fender MIJ Strast on Ebay so I get to compare the EPI to the Fender That will be fun so come back and see -- Charles

  • Of those 2 you are playing there,my opinion is the epiphone is little better sounding.Seemed to have little more sustain and warmer.

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting When I put the Epi on a Amp with more power that 2 watts it really showed me the difference between the two -- Charles

  • epiphones are naturally better than any thing elce...Gibson is the best, but the epiphone is the same, but it is factory made, and you can get an epiphone with the same quality as a gibson for a third of the price.

  • Hi Thanks for stopping by and commenting on this Video -- Charles

  • Have you ever played a GIBSON Les Paul Custom? I thought the same until I actually played a high end Gibson, and it was truly an amazing guitar. I would definitely spend 3 grand on it. Way better than an Epiphone Les Paul Custom.

  • I would really love to spend 3 grand on a guitar but I could never afford that kind of price for a hobby... If I was doing it for a living I would think about it... But the way I play and the Amps I have I probally should not of bought the Epiphone -- Thanks for the Comment -- Charles

  • I of course meant if I had 3 grand, I would buy it.

Amps do make up a lot of your sound. I didn't realize it until I got a new amp today. My Epiphone G-400 sounds incredible now.

  • thnx, nice video. isn't it a little cold in the snow with only a t-shirt?

  • the snow is computer generated...(fake)

  • I know, it was just a joke...

  • i say that while epiphones are good, you should try to get an elitist epiphone, as theyre basically as good as a gibson, just made in japan i believe while gibson is made in america. and if you dont mind paying up to 800 dollars, they have cheaper gibson SG's and les pauls, but then again i play a gibson SG and now i cant settle for any other instrument besides gibson or fender. so i might not be able to give you good advice on as which guitars to buy.

  • What do you think of the Gibson SG Special Faded is only 579 at Guitar Center?--Charles

  • well, i think its a very good buy for a gibson, and SG's are fun to play. if i were to get one, i would probably get new pickups in it and maybe change the tuners, depends on if they worked good. but i say go for it, just try to find one that you like the feel of.

  • i like the epiphone

  • That seems to be the consenious The Epiphone really shines when you start listening to the overall tones and harmonics that are created when you play it..... Thanks for your Comment and giving me your Opinion-- Charles

  • did you say 99 dollar guitar?

  • Yes they were regular 149 at musicians Friends and they did not sale very well so they clerance them out for 99.95 with free shipping. Now I seen a like guitar on MF called a switch wild IV for 149.99 I'm Sure Their probally the same Guitar. They have a plain single color for 99.99 also just go the Musicansfriend sna do a search for Switch wild and you will see them... Thanks for stoping by--Charles

  • how do the pickups sound on the Epiphone I was thinking on buying the alpine white color I was how it sound for being a epiphone

  • You can listen to them I think the Epi has a little more Clarity Clean the Pickups are not as hot as the ones on the Drive so they have a cleaner sound but The question here is is it worth the extra 400$ I think it is if your are going to do some serious playing and recording but to play around or a first guitar The Drive is enough for me I keep picking the Drive up instead of my Epiphone because I don't want to scratch the Epiphone or ding it So what good is that. see next comment

  • Continue from ag3 question

I am trying to learn the intro to Black in Black from SoloDallas Training and I'll play both again and attach it to this Video so you can hear both of them again and make your Choice. Thanks for the Question-Charles

  • thanks I play at my church so I play alot an I want to get a nice guitar but cant afford a gibson

  • Check out the Attached Video

    Re:3 Guitars 1 Question (Drive,Epiphone,StarFire) Which One?

and here a Three Guitars Again

  • I like both

  • Thanks For Stopping by Did you check out the Fender StarFire Video

  • thanks

  • Im looking into buying that epiphone. Do you like it?

  • Thanks for Stoping bye and for the subscription I really like the Guitar Its got really low action and the Guitar Looks better in Person that the Pictures. Charles

  • im lookin into buying a epiphone like that it sounds fairly well. Do you like it??

  • the difference will of course be a slight one. if you're doing some serious recording for profit, it's worth the money. otherwise, go economy! that's my take.

  • Thanks for stoping by yea I don't think the 5 inch speaker on my amp is gonna show much difference

  • The Epiphone sounds better to me. The Drive also sounds good especially for the money.

  • Thanks for the Comment I just won a Fender Squire Starfire on Ebay For a song So now I will have a Semi HollowBody Watch for a Video in the near future of it.... Charles

  • Good vid man. The first one was better I think. Its got really character. Your buddy, Ninja187Rules ps thanks for your kind post on my page

  • Thanks for Stoping By I really can't decide if the Epi is that much better 400+ Dollars Maybe if I played better it might make more of a difference of if I had a different Amp but for a Amateur Player or a beginner I think the Drive WildFire suites me just fine I wonder if other cheap guitars Play and sound just as Good..... That why I made this Video to see what every else Thinks

  • the drive sounds good, the epi has a little more difinition in the sound.. but what do i know i'm an Ibanez snob lol

  • Thanks for the Comment. I got Fender 250r's(10 - 46) on the drive for strings. I don't know whats on the Epi its the original strings. So I'm open to what to put on it. My friend has a Ibanez Iceman I always liked it also. So I am taking your Comment as a Vote for the Epi

  • yeah the epi i would use for rock and blues, the drive w/heavy dist would be awsome for punk or metal rythem guitar the drive does have a nice tone. that epi looks really good too
