  • sorry Ike, but she shoulda married James Brown. Now that would have been a revue

  • I LUV HER

  • these X Singer vs. Y Singer things are moronic. but most pop audiences are filled with sycophantic morons, so it doesn't surprise me. Aretha and Tina's voices are barely comparable apart from the blues tradition they're borne out of... Aretha = church house. Tina = gin house. let's leave it at that.

  • @TeenageWildlife ummm wrong!!! Tinas had a strong backwoods raspy gospel sound that aretha couldnt match up too!!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 ...and Aretha has a greater high-chest range and is clear as a bell and has amazing melismatic control which Tina has never displayed in her life, but that doesn't mean I dislike Tina's voice. Beyonce fans aren't the smartest lot, so please read again. I said they're "barely comparable," there's no value judgment implied in that.

  • @TeenageWildlife ummm we are the smartest so dont cross us the wrong way because we will let you have it!!!

  • Someone, somewhere has GOT to get the rest of this F(*&@king video!!!! Or I swear I'm gonna......

  • @mazzarellisteve the full version of this is Ike and Tina Turner (Sammie Davis Jr show). thumbs this comment up so it can stay at the top, even though this is better quality, you have to fast forward the other one to 1:19

  • @mazzarellisteve The full version of this has been posted recently, Ike and Tina turner Sammie Davis Junior show. This one is better quality, however. Thumbs up this comment so it can stay at the top so others while know

  • I'm getting kinda sick of all the comparisons on YouTube. Tina vs Aretha, Ross vs Patti.Dont u all know that's the beauty of music & the magic of versatility in the world (do I dare say God?). Would u compare an apple to a pear? They're all great, and if you dont like pears, or apples, so be it. Enjoy what you like. They've all sold more records than anyone on here, (and I'll bet none of them are sitting around reading these comments), so in the end does it really matter?

  • why is this only clip......??????????

  • wow!! she can sang!

  • I discovered Ike and Tina (mainly Tina) in 1964... when I got my driver's license and started spending all my free time at the beach in Santa Cruz, CA. ALL the young surfers I hung out with... ones who would go on to make big waves in the art and Santa Cruz surf and business world.. were in love with Tina Turner. And I immediately understoood why. She was such a revelation after listening to teeny bopper pop and Beach Boys. Maybe it's cause she moved to Europe? No matter. I Love her tops.

  • tina is the better ,she is the voice ,I dont know i think she can be jame brown daughter wow

  • I can't believe anyone would try and compare this great singer to the obese ass Aretha that's about to explode any minute now. Tina's far better. And this is coming from someone who's a big classic Diana Ross fan.

  • love tina!!! this was not a good year for her........this is the year she tried to commit suicide...

  • ummm Ms. Turner was mega even before the 80's! She was already a mega artist in the UK since 1966!! and even though she's about to be 71 in November she is still in better shape than 68 yr old Aretha's popeyes eating behind and 66 yr old Patti Labelle

  • POWERFUL VOICE TINA, SOMETHING ARETHA,PATTI ETC FANS DONT LIKE TO ADMIT

  • Looking at this I must ask.....HOW IS ARETHA THE QUEEN OF SOU!?

  • @babyboi1002 Because SHE said she is LOL .... We didn't tell her she was, she told us she was.

  • @Mongo76 LMAO....that's what I was thinking...lol

  • @babyboi1002

Aretha is uncontestedly the queen of soul. Tina is the acid queen but Aretha is the queen of soul.

  • @1URESAM Tina Turner has alot soul, gospel, and R&B in her vocals as well, so i don't know how came up with just rock and pop lolz!!! and believe me, Tina Turner was definitely major competition for aretha back in those days!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 not necessarily becuz Aretha was always waaay more popular here in the states than the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. i would say that Tina didnt give Aretha a run for her money until the mid 80's.

  • @cchllover ummm.... I've talked to many older people who are both Tina and Aretha's age group and they would tell you that back in those days Ms.Tina had the whole package and she was force to be reckoned with even in the late 50s and early 60's and 70's while with Ike! and they also won a grammy award back in 1972 for Best R&B Group/Duo for the song "Proud Mary" so Tina was doing it up even then!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 well she started recording in 1959 but she didnt sing lead until 1960. The Ike and Tina turner revue were a major crossover act at first, but then its popularity declined here in the U.S. they were still major stars alongside the supremes, aretha, gladys and the pips and all them, but Ike and Tina revue never had that constant back to back overall success that Aretha or the Supremes had. Tina didnt get MEGASTAR HUGE until she went solo. thats when she really crossed over

  • @cchllover I beg to differ. Just because YOU weren't aware of Tina before she went solo doesn't mean others (millions) weren't aware of her. Tina is REVERED around the world and has been for decades. It's just that in the U.S., you're only as big as your last hit record. In additiion, Ike was a very successful band leader even before he met Tina. The woman is much more than any "diva" you can think of - she is an ICON!!

  • @1URESAM Aretha wouldn't last 5 minutes trying to keep up with this ball of energy. Tina was straight up Rock nRoll . I imagine Janis Joplin was heavily influenced by TT

  • @DrHogfan

I agree with you that Tina is the greatest entertainer. I do love Tina T. but when it comes to singing and feeling soul music, Aretha is it.

  • @1URESAM Tina Turner is the Queen of Rock and Roll

  • It's simply fuckin god like! where is the show? any bootlegs exist?

  • I cannot watch singing Tina enough cause I have big complex I don´t know sing.

  • i love this selection

  • This women is just phenomenal. 0:24 seconds of raw perfection.

  • thanks 4 posting........this was not a good year for tina.....this is the year she tried to commit suicide....i assume this was after she tried to do that but in her book she doesnt specify what month....

  • talent ... pure talent look at ike ready to beat her down

  • I wish i can view the entire peformance, I can watch and Old Tina performance anytime, she was still the best even back then :)

  • OK yall PLEAAAASE don't laugh at me but I didn't know they had color TV back in 1968. I thought color TV came out in the early 70's. I know I know dumb as hell. I'll take that one.

  • @Msredhoney720 Color TV had been on the air in the U.S. since roughly 1963, and the networks became completely colorized by 1966, although some shows only exist through black & white kinescopes. No, you're not dumb for not knowing that.

  • @spxmet Thank you my friend for claryfing that!

  • when i listen to her sing i get that same chill i get frm pattie labelle and fantasia

  • Doesn't anybody see what happens at 14/15 seconds? :P

  • Nothing Its Just One Of Her Many Facial Expressions When She Sings I Have Seen Her Do It A Few Times :)

  • Maybe s'one throws s'thing at her (or spits, heaven forbid) she seems to be alarmed suddenly

  • maybe just a little electric shock of the mike

  • she comes to a realization

  • WOW

  • I love tina she is an example of power and class.that every female performer should look up to

  • i think she was depressed here, anyone agree? in so many videos she is full of energy and happy but in this one she is different. its amazing how much she have changed through the years. she is my queen.

  • Hollywood Palace is one or two years lond 3 shows a day, seven days a week.

It is very profitable but also killing your artistic aspirations.

  • Yeah she looks VERY unhappy. That year, she learned Ike had fathered a child with one of the Ikettes (I woulda cut that bitch!), then ended her own pregnancy due to those circumstances, and later attempted suicide.

I can't imagine what it must've been like to be forced to get onstage in front of a crowd, tv cameras, bright hot lights, and costumes- all while that stuff was going on- AND trying your best to look like everything was ok.

No wonder she was able to sing like that.

  • Why so short?

  • one of my favorites by tina. She wuz so beautiful and still is

  • was pretty still is pretty! tina is the type of person that looks better as she ages.

  • She was so pretty when she was younger. She has such a rough look within 5-6 yrs. Ike should of been ashamed of himself.

  • GO NO GIRL WOW !!!!!

  • damz i enjoy reading the catfight here let me set this straight; TINA is the only one who can dance sing perform at the same time in one breath! she is extreme powerfull and classy woman! please show some respect! aretha envies TINA succes and about diana please come on she cannot dance here in europe TINA fills stadions diana cannot fill one see for ur self holland concert gelderdome is not sold out TINA 3 in a row!!sold out and we are begging here for more!
  • Can somebody please tell me what the name of this song is? Or what album it's from? Or where I can find it? Or even this full length video clip? Pleeeaaase?!

  • the name is "you've got what you wanted2

  • there is a full length on there, but its not of a performance, just pic, i wish they would put the full version of her singing this song.

  • I wanna see the whole thing.

  • Man that was too short.

  • We can all emrbrace Tina, Aretha, Cher, Diana, they all gave us somethin gto smile about when we heard them sing, others also, Nataie Cole, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, the CARpenters, Linda Ronstadt, so many that gave us great songs over the years, and to watch them again is great, I wish this was the entire clip of this song, i had never heard it before.....

  • Ms. Tina is beautiful

  • Well Diana Ross always looked like a strung out crackhead that someone spray-painted a smiling face on and propped up with a crutch to stand her up.

Now, I do love some Supremes songs, as does any human being with a heartbeat.

But, sorry- watching Tina perform, especially during thisera, is 1,000 times more fun than watching the Supremessing and do their little finger snaps.

  • co signs

  • That's your opinion, You obviously think fat is attractive. And Diana Ross had a high metabolism. I never thought she looked as you described at all. A little too thin after Flo left and the what I can only imagine unimaginable increased stress and super workload.

And take a chill pill. I love Tina, she can't compare to the class, stage presence, and glamour of DRaTS or DRoss

  • Liking musical acts because they are thin is for lames. And yes, Diana Ross DID look like a crackhead. You must be blind or you're just trippin'.

  • Maybe you're talking about yourself. I don't do drugs so I wouldn''t know how to make those comparisons. People like you are always dissing Diana Ross (there are many of you) because you can't/couldn't understand her grand success and superior popularity.

  • Well, I don't know where YOU live, but I live near downtown Los Angeles where crackheads abound and yes, Diana Ross DID look like a crackhead, after 1965 anyway.

And where's Diana Ross today anyway? Oh yeah, I forgot: she's sitting at home and NOT on that tour with the Supremes that DIDN'T happen. NO WONDER she was caught driving under the influence. Such a shame, especially having has as much money as she does.

GO TINA! You rock 'em like no one else can, especially Las Vegas-y Diana Ross.

  • ferstday and no I'd never hire you to design my house or my clothes. You're obviously to dumb to realize the importance of panache

  • I grew up in L.A....I understand panache at a level you could never get to.

Don't be mad at me cuz no one went to see Diana Ross in concert with 'the supremes'. It ain't my fault.

You can put sequins and paint make up on ANYBODY, and make em do little finger-snaps, and true, they may not necessarily reach the popularity of Diana Ross, but I guess they can be said to have 'panache' then.

I'm not interested in panache- when it comes to rock stars, all I care about is that they ROCK.

  • Trust me, DratS rocked in their day, and they packed many a venue. Don't compare them to DratS of 2000, no one but you would make that silly comparison. You live in downtown L.A.?, My...what a "wonderful" place. You have no idea what panache is, obviously you don't understand its importance and can't appreciate it in the context I'm explaining

  • You imply that I must not understand what you mean by 'panache', because anyone in their right mind would agree with you if they did. Pretty narcissistic of you.

I'd prefer a rockin' sawdust-floor honky-tonk CHITLIN-CIRCUIT show from those days over a sparkly, sequined DRoss glorified lounge singer set any day.

Also, trying to insult someone simply for not agreeing with you isn't becoming- Motown's charm school may have taught you that had u been in class with DRoss when she was coming up.

  • Let's look at the facts. YOU came onto Tina's clip to make a negative remark. I on the other hand have never gone onto a DRoss or Supremes clip to call her a crackhead so her fans can read it. I wrote it here IN RESPONSE TO YOUR COMMENT to prove a point: negative comments can be made about any and every body.

The difference between you and me is that you can dish it out but can't take it.

And what amplifies that contrast is the fact that you're 45 years old! You've got 13 years on me!

  • Gosh, I REALLY hope I don't act anything like you when I'M a 45 year-old man! How embarassing.

  • You don't have to worry about acting like me when you are 45, You won't make it that far, and you're already a bitchy fem queen

  • And who the hell said I wanted to design your ugly house or your stupid clothes anyway? LOL!

  • Yes i agree, watching when she was younger, with her rawness is really something, she created her own moves and sound, and now its universal, she is an international icon and an inspiring personality amongst the celebs....

  • Obviously they were all great American rock n roll acts, but the genre became well established in Britain before it hit the big time in the states. In the US music was still rooted mainly in gospel, jazz and rhythm and blues. That's why so many acts came over to Britain at the time to make it big, including Chuck Berry and Gene Vincent

  • Tina has always been more appreciated here in Britain and in Europe. It's strange really. But rock n roll hit Britain in the 50s before it hit America so that could be a factor

  • Like with British rock n rollers such as Elvis, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis & Chuck Berry?

  • yes go in tina go in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its amazing! The power and emotion that her face holds on 0:15! It sends chills through me when I see it. You can just imagine what she was going through right then when she was singing! What a great woman!

  • lol when she made that face at 0:15 it kinda seems like she was thinkin "damn i didn't know i can sing that good!" then she looked at the mic like "did i just do that?"..lol

  • i know she like " did yall hear dat. was dat me? lol. love her =)

  • Yeah,I agree with me too....and wat Leplaq said.

To bad shes not here in America no more.

  • I agree, Aretha is more respected in America. I think they should respect both Tina and Aretha as great performers. Plus, they sing completly different generes. Tina is the Queen of Rock-n-Roll, and Aretha the Queen of Blues, Gospel, and others.

  • i agree and the sad thing is aretha franklin always seems to be respected more than Tina especially in America when in my opinion Tina Turner is a far better vocalist, performer and entertainer than aretha franklin and still doesnt have the arrogance that aretha does

  • Your so Right about that, i think everyone should read the statement!

  • you must be kidding leplaq to call this worthless street ho a vocalist and then say she's better than Aretha franklin... LMAO... no one who knows anything about music would concur with such a ridiculous statement. Aretha is considered to be one of the best if not the best singer in the world, no one has ever said that about his shit face.

  • i may not like aretha as much as tina but i never called her out her name i think she is very talented but i think compared to tina who can "dance" whether u think so or not "sing" and has the record for the most attended concerts from any artist male or female she is an arrogant woman because she must really be convinced she is the queen its just a title, but whatever :)

  • @leplaq

tina turner is definitely a better performer than aretha but by no way in hell is she a better vocalist.

  • @1URESAM well im just saying thats my opinion

  • @1URESAM That's relative. I like both in their respective genres. Aretha can't do Rock...Her voice is just too soulful and heavy and churchy. Gospel, soul, and r and B.... Tina's strength is Rock and pop. While she is accomplished at blues and soul Aretha is more naturally suited. So I dotn really think its a fair comparison. Thats like comparing Dionne Warwick and Big Mama Thornton.

  • @leplaq shes not a better vocalist than aretha, get real. better entertainer for sure, and aretha arrogance ? wtf are u talking about?

  • @genitalien whoa angry much? thats just my opinion I think Aretha is great but u cant say she doesnt have an ego problem, i think being called the queen has her thinking she really is a Queen, its just not right

  • @leplaq my gawd thank you for that comment! Im not the only one who thinks so! x You said it all

  • Wat if I told everyone who read this that I can sing like her????? I wish I could.

  • to bad the whole version isn't here. I like that part though..."I guess you thought I'd beeeee, somethin I'm not. But you got what you wanted, oohh. Now, you don't want what you got.I wish I still had what you wanted..."

  • sometimes I wish ppl could sing like this...

  • Get it Tina!!!!

  • tina turner is one of the very few women whose looks have not drastically changed in over 50 freaking years. is that amazing or what???

  • She's so beautiful!

  • DAAAAAMn, Tina.

  • Tina Turner can sing! People seem to turn up their noses at things that are different and unusal...she's not mediocre. Tina has a voice that would peel paint off a wall. Her voice is unique and rare...she's has a male/female voice mixed. You dont need music degree to understand that!!!

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaah :)

  • you can see how much passion there is in her

  • Lol u can! especially at 0:08 mins, she do the famous hair movement with intensity in her face. Love her!

  • passion in her nik240692? what you see is an old cow that still has a hot twat. you can tell shes into anal. such a shame for someone this old to still have an insatiable twat.

  • that comment you left was as stupid as you! Lol its funny, that's she's paid, and your in front of your computer taking time out your day to watch her. Get a life!!!

  • Go straight to hell

  • Who do YOU love, then?

Whoever it is, they're probably very obscure, with only a handful of fans worldwide- you being one of them- and your lonely bitterness can't help but blow out of you like steam from a simmering kettle or a fart out of a fast food fan, as was the case with this embarassing comment you made.

  • lonely bitterness ferstday?.... thats quite presumptuous of you to pretend that you know anything about one's personal life because they leave a critical comment on an opinion site... what does that say about you. as far as miss turner goes, she's a filthy no class ho with a twat so old cobwebs cover where her gray twat hair used to be. she's a loud obnoxious worthless dirt bag. that likes suckin men's dicks after they whop her trashy ass.

  • TINA TURNER IS THE ABSOLUTE QUEEN, 50 years in music. She has done everything... rock and roll, blues, soul, pop, country, rock...

  • She kinda shouts... But she sings, definitely! And damn good!

  • Yea we need the whole version of this here, let me know when its up.

  • omg yyyyy isn't this whole thing on here??? can some1 plzzzzzz upload the full ver. of this vid plzzz i love this song and i've ben dying 2c her perform it live!!!

  • Pure soul she was the female James Brown back in the day.

  • You're close! The exact title is "I'm Gonna Do All I Can (To Do Right By My Man)"!

  • Somebody, somebody has to upload the complete version of this, now!

  • I have this song on vinyl;Ike and Tina Get it Together. Tina sang lead on most of the songs but The Ikettes got to take lead on a few songs and this whole album is AWESOME!!!

  • This is my Tina after all these years I still love her to bits and her voice has remained fresh.

  • This is my Tina after all these years I still love her to bits and her voice has remained fresh.

  • She is so pretty! Thanks for puting up the entire audio...at least.

  • She looked great. Those who don't are probably used to wild vibrant stage makeup on Tina - that came in the post-Ike Rock n' Roll Pop years. She's beautiful.

  • Hi, guys. Yeah, sadly, this is all I have of this clip--which was all that aired on the TV special. Sigh... :(

  • Spectacular clip of the Legendary Queen of Rock n Roll. You can actually see how she related to this song, she sung it like she lived it, and she did. One in a million voice, this is the only woman who gives me chills when she sang next to fantasia.

  • I'm tellin u Tina, Janis Joplin, Patti Labelle and Fantasia can make u feel a song

  • NO JOKE SHES #1

  • Poor Tina she looked so sad, great singer !!!

  • littleprincey can u post the complete clip? thanks

  • Yeah, this is some pretty rare footage. Tina attempted suicide the year this was taped. Her attempt, however, was in the Spring of 1968. I'm not exactly sure what month this footage was shot. She also was pregnant around the Spring, but had an abortion. When this was filmed, she was going through ALOT!

  • what a voice!

  • i love this song too. I didn't realize she sang it live--on tv that is. Interesting fact: if this was from Dec 68, this would have been during her suicide attempt that's mentioned in her auto-bio. says she had just turned 29 when it happened.

  • damn I love that song. Didn't know she sung it live and on Tv.

  • sing tina. I want the whole show! She looked great!

  • Soul, Soul this is the Tina Turner I love!

  • Omg I need to see the whole show. OMG why

  • One of my favorite Ike and Tina records

  • WHAT??!!! Never seen this before!! Can someone post the whole thing please!!??? I am all about her outfit in this video!!

  • the ikettes were way better back in the 60's than the ones in the 70's

  • amen

  • That's kinda "understated" because two of the Ikettes in this clip stayed with Ike & Tina thru the seventies til the end.... Esther Jones and Edna 'LeJeune' Richardson. I read in a article on the Ikettes, Tina said out of all the different "sets" of Ikettes, the Ikettes in this clip were her BEST! They are from L to R: Claudia Lenear, Edna Richardson, and Esther Jones.

  • I remember reading Tina saying that Esther Jones was one of the best Ikettes- good vocalist, and that there wasn't a routine she couldn't get perform "tougher than any other girl." I had also read Esther was very influential in the choreography. She was with them a long time.

  • She's right... Esther Jones has such a strong voice!

  • Yes,she (Esther) was! Ike said that Esther was one of the "GREATS"! He also said she stayed longer than any other Ikette and was known to the band as "Motha", short for Mother of all the Ikettes. Ike also said it was Esther who came on stage during the show and got him when Tina tried to "over dose!"

  • Never seen it before, would love to see the whole thing !!! Tina is amazing, she's turneresque as ever

  • Omg...I LOVE IT! I've never seen this before...someone's GOT to post the whole thing! Tina looks and sounds bomb and the Ikettes are doin' it!

  • This is some wild shit. I love it. Someone please put up the full video.

  • I love this song!!!! I need the whole song!!!

  • damn.this is a tite as performance i bet.please put up the full vid someone

  • You betta sang!!! wooo!
