I can't believe that parent called her own child "Tweedle Dum". That was awful. I feel sorry for all of them. I has to be hard to go through this. Have the parents thought of gluten free food. Maybe healthier foods in the house.
0:57, CHEW YOUR FOOD. This is not a medical condition... Sure, food is addicting when you let it become so, but why eat fried crap? Stuff your face with fruits and veggies, lean meats and fish. Of course your stomach hurts, youve stretched it beyond normality. Dont get me wrong, i understand. I feel bad for these kids.. But this is not a condition, it is the lack of willpower. Even if it was a medical condition, which it is not, any sort of physical activity will help keep the pounds off.
I think if my kid were like this I would put them on a vegetarian diet :/ Of course I can't say I know what its like but I think I would just regulate their meals heavily and have them exercise a lot. Just so they can develop those habits when they're on their own.
There's nothing wrong with pasta people. Pasta is good for you. Carbs are good for you. I eat pasta all the time and I'm underweight. You just have to know how to moderate it.
@TiaRae101 yeah, especially white pasta. But if you use spagetti squash ( veggie) and use natural veggies and healthy ingredients then it's not bad :)
@2lasiiJAkuppi Gastric Bypass in someone who has a glitch in their brain that tells them to continue eating? Gastric Bypass is only helpful for those who can listen to their body- not for people who have something mentally wrong that tells them to constantly eat. This is an actual disorder not kids who think food is yummy.
Well, cant he eat healthier things when he's hungry all the time? like..an apple? or a salad? drinking lots of water also helps ease hunger pangs. I just think that fried foods should be avoided at all costs for him if possible.
If my child had this...I just wouldn't feed him what he wants. In fact prader willie people burn less calories than the average person. So I would feed him that...whatever is allowed and then let him scream, cry and yell...it is for his own good that he doesn't eat because if you let him he'd eat until he exploded.
@GhostWritersDragon If they feel like they are starved that is torturous. I would feed them the correct amounts of protein etc and then piles of salad.
:( so sad if I eat 1 chocolate bar I put on about 4pounds and once half a stone but I don't look like the wieght Iam,iam skinnyish but weigh about 9stone and it's wired coz I always won't to eat but this is sad and it's really not there fault :(
yes it's sad; but if my child had this disease i would make sure that they knew everything there is to know about good nutrition. i mean really, "pasta [is my favorite food] because it's the healthiest thing you can eat" NO! they really have no idea! they need fresh fruit and veges above all else!
just because they're constantly hungry it doesn't mean that they have to eat rubbish all the time. they should learn about proper meal sizes so they don't overeat and become obese.
I love how quadrillion of overweight blame the same diseases as these poor people for their reason of being obese/fat. How people can not put even 15-30 minutes to simple exercise, is hard for me to understand. Read this article, makes me we ant to kill myself. Search "Too fat to work" on google and read the article by the Telegraph. Makes me want to kill myself based on where humanity is standing right now.
Yeah it's not their fault, or the parents fault, it a "syndrome". I'm overweight, I'm huge, but I don't blame anyone else for it. I did it to myself. These parents should have their kids taken because obviously they don't know how to parent. Even if the kid says they're hungry, DON'T LET THEM EAT! it's a simple as that.
Actually, it's not as simple as that. This is an actual genetic disease which can be diagnosed through DNA analysis, and is incurable. The sensation of feeling full that we are used to is made possible by our brains, but this brain function doesn't work in people with this disease. The person is physically incapable of EVER feeling full. So it's not as simple as just not eating, because if they don't keep eating they will be in neverending state of torturous hunger.
@mazarusify I actually once babysat a girl with this same disease, and it can be controlled. You just have to limit portions and, when they're older, lock away food. In a way it is their fault, and in other ways it isn't. They can't control the fact that they constantly feel hungry, but they -can- control what they eat, it's just more difficult to control the urges.
@LivingDead53 if you want repair, i suggest you repair yourself with good oils. becoming rusty isn't going to help. going up and down with your weight does more damage to your body than being fat.
i have this problem. the only typee of food i can eat is japanese if I want to be a good weight, but they won't let me here, so I'm getting big. i also move 10Xs more than a normal person.
Thats horrible, I cant imagine feeling hungry all the time. I feel for these poor people, aside from the obvious health problems they will always be viewed as gluttons. Thats wouldnt be easy for anyone.
i knew a boy who had that boys syndrome, very sad, but he was a very very happy little boy, one of the things i did notice too was that he got upset very easily and he was very hungry all the time.
I took care of a little girl that had this syndrome. She was 5 years old and 120 pounds. She was an incredible little girl. We had to lock anything that had food in it and the garbage can we locked in a closet because she would eat whatever food was thrown away. Its sad and hard for anyone to live with. They feel like they're starving all the time and never get the satisfaction feeling of being full. anyone who makes fun of them are immature. u wouldn't make fun of someone wiTh cancer would u?
my mother who has a work friend who has a son with prader willi, his wife has to stay at home with a full time carer just stop him from eating himself to death, everything is locked up, the cupboards and the fridge, the freezer, or shop lifting from the corner store when he does get out of the house.
@Unzem You know nothing, internet crusader. This is a chronic illness, individuals will eat themselves to death if allowed. Imagine needed to take a piss, all the time, that's what it is equivalent to in terms of willpower.

there are kids though whose parents overfeed them when they're babies (they think a healthy baby's gotta be chubby) and so their stomachs stretch and they need to eat more and more. stomachs can shrink too, if you only eat a little bit every few hours your stomach will shrink and you will be satisfied with just a little bit of food.

um..... so why if that kid is hungry all the time, why don't they just either
a. NOT give him big ass bowl of pasta, how about a giant salad or steamed veggies
or
b. just because he says he wants food, you don't have to give it to him. you're the adult, and he doesn't need all that food to live. just tell them no.
@toribjork10 This has nothing to do with the parents. Its a problem with the appetite centers of the brain. They are always hungry. Its not that the parents are over feeding their kids.
I agree that they have a problem with the difference between whats healthy and whats not but the brain is the problem. Its a chemical issue.
It isn't their fault - the part of the brain that tells us when to stop eating doesn't work with them. It is also often linked to mental health problems, so they don;t always understand why they feel like this/why they can't have food. So watch it all the way through before you start passing judgement.
This video is a joke I understand that they feel the need to eat constantly but there is a thing called HEALTHY EATING!!! and EXERCISE!!!! Put them on the show the biggest loser.
there is also other symptoms such as learning difficulties and behavioural challenges that is linked with this disorder that makes it extremely difficult to say just stop! trust me the parents try and try to stop them and they cant its like someone who is anorexic or bulimic they can hide it... difference being you cannot cure prada willi its an obsession that takes over every single moment of their day/lives!!
there is also other symptoms such as learning difficulties and behavioural challenges that is linked with this disorder that makes it extremely difficult to say just stop! trust me the parents try and try to stop them and they cant its like someone who is anorexic or bulimic they can hide it... difference being you cannot cure prada willi its an obsession that takes over every single moment of their day/lives!!
I mean, I understand this disease and how it works but even if they say they are eating the healthiest thing possible, they're not. They could eat way healthier things and they could exercise. None of them say they make their kids work out or do sports or anything. If they ate healthier and exercise, they wouldn't be fat. They wouldn't be super skinny but they wouldn't be so obese.
Ok, I get this syndrome. I understand it, Ive studied it. However, the families are NOT providing healthy food, so in a sense they are making it much much worse than it has to be. Like look at their plates...like, the problem is that with this syndrome. Their bodies don't NEED this amount of food, their are just chemicals in the body that are making their bodies think they need food. These parents have noooo idea what they are dealing with and because they haven't researched, it's their fault
I haven't weighed myself In several months maybe even a year, but I know for a fact that I'm not nearly as tall or big as the kids in the video but I'm not skinny though for being fifteen.
I have a few extra pounds (5'6 145lbs, blubber butt) but its my fault. No one to blame for my lack of will power.....but man does watching this make me hungry. *drinks water in hopes to curb my appetite.
Listen....2 years ago, I was severely obese for a 12 year old, even a 13 and 14 year old, I'm 14 now. I weighed 350 pounds. I could walk barely. I weigh 192 pounds now, and feel greater than ever. Also, I still feel hungry all the time, but get full quicker and wait about 2 hours before I snack on 1 or 2 things. I don't 15 or 16 snacks a day, I don't eat 30 or 40 meals a day. I try hard.
Whaaaaat that 13 year old weighs like 20 pounds less than me and he looks way bigger O_O Maybe it's cause I'm a 5'7 16 year old girl...But damn. I feel so bad. I know how it feels to always be hungry. Now I have a eating disorder that is the complete opposite (EDNOS) so yeah...I'm a all or nothing kind of girl.
Even if they feel hungry all the time they can still watch what and when they eat. They order big fatty ass food. It really isn't that hard. For breakfast eat a small bowl of non-sugary cereal. lunch eat a salad. dinner eat a proper portion size of steak with green beans or something healthy. And for your 2 snacks for the day, eat an apple, or a carrot. They need a schedule for what times they are allowed to eat.
Wow some of you are so disgustingly disrespectful. They can't excersise much as they have little muscle tone and a lack of energy. I've met a few PWS kids and they've all been amazing, it just needs more awareness and hopefully more people will understand the condition. Obviously some small minded idiots will never understand!
@Maggie3039 Look up the disorder. What would you do if you felt like you were starving all the time... oh yeah, you'd eat. I know some one with this syndrome. It take a lot more than just simple will power, dieting, & exercise.
@likeomgutube I can tell by your name that you are probably a tween or young teenager so my suggestion is for you to grow up a little and try to put yourself into somebody else's shoes before you make fun of some one. If you had this disorder you would feel like you were starving all the time and it would take over your life.
It's a genetic mutation from the father ... if the same mutation comes from the mother, the opposite happens - the child doesn't eat much and eventually dies (Angelman syndrome).
@MissGummyTeddy it is in their brain. they think they are hungary even when the body isn't hungary. if they got by-pass they would still keep eating and stretch out their stomach again.
An ex of mine, his brother had this disease. For all of you people that are demanding these kids should exercise more, do you expect them to be working out 24/7? They need to live a life too. Imagine not having control over being hungry or how much you eat! There is literally nothing these people can do. Not only does it affect the people with the disease but the entire family. I saw it first hand.
I can't believe that parent called her own child "Tweedle Dum". That was awful. I feel sorry for all of them. I has to be hard to go through this. Have the parents thought of gluten free food. Maybe healthier foods in the house.
Then she says 4 Britney Spears. Geez what a Mom.

These parents have noooo idea what they are dealing with and because they haven't researched, it's their fault

no such thing as "healthy" and "unhealthy" unless your talking about a food that causes cancer or some shit...

I do think they could eat healthier. I know eating is chronically uncontrollable, which is terrible, but eat healthier from what you do eat.

I try hard.

They need a schedule for what times they are allowed to eat.
avrilrockz5 1 month ago
Wow some of you are so disgustingly disrespectful. They can't excersise much as they have little muscle tone and a lack of energy. I've met a few PWS kids and they've all been amazing, it just needs more awareness and hopefully more people will understand the condition. Obviously some small minded idiots will never understand!
