@loudmouthspeaker by stop worshiping the Pope and the 'Saints'..lol. the problem with WYD is that there is a lot of hype with the Pope. If Hillsong would likely to get involve (my opnion only, may not be true) with WYD, the focus should be entirely on Jesus Christ--not the Pope, cardinals, vatican officials or "ineterceding" with the Saints.

I got what he was preaching perfectly... and sadly it's probably true in churches such as his that don't preach the bible that you can learn more about God at a bus stop or raising children or in the unemployment line, etc than you can from listening to sermons from his church, including this one.

If you go to a good bible expositing church, this could not be further from the truth.

Saying that you will learn more about God just living out your life than in the church or by reading the bible is completely unbiblical unless of course you are in a 2 Timothy 4:3 church. In fact, Paul says in Romans 7:7 '...Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."' In other words, you learn about sin by hearing, not by experiencing.

I would actually say that Jesus' most powerful contribution was not parable, miracle or recitation, but a vicarious death on the cross, but this has nothing to do with my point at all. I wasn't talking about effectiveness of ministry. I was saying that you learn more about God from his revealed word than anywhere else. You can hang out at a bus stop all day, but if you never have time alone studying the word, you'll never know God. Anyone who says otherwise has a very low view of scripture IMO
