Max Payne 2 was a good game, but man, did it not need to be made. All loose ends were tied up at the end of the first game, they were REALLY stretching for a plot in the second game, I can't imagineof how shitty and pointless the plot of the third game will be.
I think dead Mona is the right ending. In combination with "late goodbye" it make's the perfect ending of a perfect game. 100%/100%; 5/5; 10/10. These days they don't make such games any more.

The problem is, that most people only look at the gameplay of GTA and not the story. Well, there is another ending where Mona lives, and the voice actor for Max delivers the line slightly differently. They're both on YouTube, so compare them side-by-side. The difference is very subtle, but when Mona lives, his tone is slightly more positive, suggesting a different interpretation; now that he has Mona, he is at peace with his family's death, because he can now begin anew with her.
I understand they might want to do something different, but seriously. Max Payne in Africa? I foresee epic fail, but I know I have to check it out anyway. I guess there's a slight chance it could be cool.
