  • I have no words. Kenyans this is home. Let us do something

  • The lack of opportunity is monstrous.

  • where is Barry at when you need him??

Hell,, just ship the unused Fema Trailers with cold a/c to these poor people

  • is this the same Kenya of Uhuru Kenyatta and Mutua? sad indeed

  • All they need to learn is how to hold their monkey paws out for free government benefits and remember to vote democrat.

Which US city is this filmed in anyways?

  • Liberal Hunting Season you are a cold hearted Motherfucker.

  • Is it me or is this journalist annoying? instead of being critical of politicians who represent this area in parliament she seems to have chosen to glorify this miserable life led by these poor souls, what a waste of opportunity. This is NOT normal, and i find it obscene to be forced relativize this. I am insulted on many levels.

Yes i am somali from Garissa, so spare me your stupid anti-somali hate.

  • NOT YET UHURU

  • aaa dee dii do duu lol,..bless!!

  • So disturbing indeed. How can we Kenyan in diaspora then unite and help these children to have a basic education.?This video makes me feel guilty as a kenyan...Guilty of,our small brothers and sisters back home are facing immeasurable hardships and as the firstborns we just need to act to save them. Forget about the selfish, heartless, greedy, inhuman kenya government. We just need to contribute to the acts of charity and God will reward us in His special ways..Peace to you all!

  • Lets talk of U.S. where I have been for nine years. I once worked in a very poor and dilapidated city , I mean homeless Americans, nothing to eat, no shower for months no cloth changing sometimes for a whole year. gun shots, woh! the order of the day and the thing is you will never see this in international websites. They want everybody to beleive that they are stable. American government covers all this mess through food stamps and well fare. G.O.K. do something! Patrick Mwangi U.S.A.

  • NTV, I am so touched by this video, is there anyway I could donate books and pens to these kids?

  • @Merc800 dude are you ssrious its not about books and pens its about infrastructre and rem oving corruption

  • Thank you TEACHERS;watoto; Nation; ROSE; Askari. May God bless you all. I know one Government Mercedes in the country called Kenya which is south of where you are will build more than 15 schools using the materials you used in this school; but that country is far away; that country does not know you exist; one day when you excel in school, then you might be able to visit that country. But beware of about 200 hyenas in that country - they are more equal than other animals.

  • Can you imagine our leaders are protesting about recalling the mercedes? If the VW were not double priced there is no good reason to complain-atleast we now know whatto do,buy cheaper vehicles with more Utils than prestigious cars.,

The money saved should used to redevelopment marginal areas.

  • Maddarch is absolutely right.

What he said hurts, but it's true. Africans in diaspora blame the media for airing programes showing troubled Africans on TV ststions abroad.

we have to fix our problems and make our continent better. States like Arizona, New Mexico were no better than northern kenya...California too. Irrigation and land reclamation transformed those states.

Why dont we make our homes better and have them seek for visas to live in in our good countries.

  • Well said!

  • Do the parliamentarians know this? They are either too stupid or greedy, none is good though. We want an egalitarian society where all Kenyans have the equal chances.

  • Any one who has been to north rift know what we go through.

  • This is what makes angry. Angry and Angry again. This could be areason why i'll easily be enticed into joining ageurilla army. This kids have to compete with those 'cerelac' babies in Nairobi and other privileged areas.

Are we Kenyans?-I went through what those kids are going through and i know...

The government has ignored us far much more than the colonial govt did.

Priviledged Africans in the diaspora dont want to see such images, they also dont want foreigners to help the poor kids.

  • "Priviledged Africans" want to see these images because rather than support the alcoholic cousins in Africa, they may feel inclined to send their money to more noble causes. I applaud NTV for their incisive and enligtening reporting and want them to go a step further and create the ecosystem to enable those diasporans to respond and contributing to the well-being of these kids.

  • Such images are only found in war torn countries like in Sudan, somalia or in Nigeria during the Biafra war. Surely is the government of Kenya at war? at war with the people of northern Kenya?

If Jolie or Bill can support more than a thousand of African kids, is there anything wrong with an African/kenyan in diaspora supporting akid from hard hit north rift...to be gurdian doesnt cost much... about 20 pounds or 40 $ amonth will make abig difference;and a follow up to make the kid benefits.

  • @mddarch - we act so smart because we ARE smart. A lot of us have come from nothing better than this to challenge the likes of yourselves on your own home ground - and win. To NTV - please post an account number or email link that we can utilize to lend a hand to these beautiful little children. I plan to spend a sabbatical in the North in a couple of years but wouldn't mind a headstart.

  • Thx Surambaya for that great response to the idiot @mddarch! White ppl caused the problem and then they always like to come and wag their little judgmental finger at us. Your sura may be mbaya, but your mind is NOT.

  • Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running. And we are running; faster than the rest of the world. We will soon catch up and lay to rest the age old question of who is the greatest.

  • that's true. Let us help these kids.

  • the idea of running is true but as far as catching up? ai.... it depends on where you are looking. if it's Africa...yes. the west...never

  • This is so sad and soo inspiring. We will overcome. We shall overcome!!

  • I could watch this video over and over again. Those kids are soooooo cute and innocent! I pray and hope you don't touch them with your never-ending stupid tribal wars. Iam sure God will make a way for them as long you don't touch them.

  • It leaves me into tears when I see such images like these from my own country.I have send this video to my very kind friends here in britain and they will be so happy to help,But where is uor government? This is its duty, obligation and madate to look after the needy,Where is the CDF funds for this particular region?Corruption still,Shame on you the area MP,you should just pack and go,you are very useless, good for nothing.

  • kudos to the teachers, keep up the spirit. CDF funds! how are they allocated?

  • This is very, very encouraging,am deeply tourched,BUT, who is the area M.P for this area, and what has he done with the CDF money.he should at lest build some classrooms for this poor children and dig a borehole to make their lives better,if not at home,in school.Welldone for the feeding in schools. Please Hon MP,assist this children.

  • Yes...the MP should do something. But the challenges are too much.without security, you cannot drill a borehole there because the cattle rustlers will come and take over the water point.....and people expect these kids to do the same KCPE with the cerelax babies of nairobi!!!...no wonder there will always be poverty in Kenya....why would the governemnt allocate Ksh 2 billion to Nyeri and 10 million to Turkana district for water programs?

  • We cannot always rely on govt. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela, Che, Stephen Hawking, Einstein, Mother Theresa - all these people were not in govt but they effected change that will last through generations to come. It's up to you and I to do what we can to bring about change "we can believe in". I cannot for the love of me, name a single hero that was a "govt team". Maybe I'm just uninformed.

  • wasted bullets :two

  • stupid mannerless...you talk of bullets and not human beings wasted.

  • Lol. I killed a snake the kenyan way today. I had no 'rungu' so I 'broke' (nilivunja) a branch from a tree ripped the leaves and approached the reptile. I gave it a thorough beating on the head. the wazungu's were afraid ...they said i have no mercy.

  • so why dont their parents go and get jobs. If they had jobs then they would not have to leave their kids to go through this. Also they should go looking for jobs in african own local businesses.

  • I grew up there and i wish to tell you, there are no jobs there.Their parents have no education or skills and will not be able to compete for jobs in the cities. livestock keeping is the only economical activity there. Organisation like oxfam GB have helped drill boreholes in some area where irrigation has helped the natives grow food. Medicines Sanfrontiers has provided medical care.

Can you imagine all this is happening and leaders are comfortable in the city; sleek cars, nice homes etc

  • Are you from Kenya or a foreigner my friend?

  • Im from africa and my point simply is the continuous supply of aid creates this situation. IT competes for jobs.

  • Good so u see even here in the uk were i am educated and cating, people dont need degrees to move forward. In africa there are many places that can be filled by the unskilled and training for them to gain certain skills . This can not happen as long as aid is the source of income as it bankrupts local business and doesnt target what is actually need 4 the countries to move forward. Aid is like a plaster on a deep gunshot wound. Let us stop with the excuses and start dealing from where we can.

  • Education is not what is needed targeting the missing holes is what we need. But aid which is taking over the economy is what puts them out of jobs skilled and unskilled. It bankrupts local businesses and create dependency. In nigeria by the way people in the poor community live better than this they too are farmers. U know why we dont get aid so they have to work. Its not the best life, but nigeria is how ever the 2nd economy in africa. Point blank aid is destructive to africans.

  • Comment removed

  • For starters i think ur right about the education thing cos u clearly cant read. I said its the 2nd biggest econony. 2ndly i am only here to study and thanku very much i intend to return to nigeria to create or help improve the lives of my fellow ppl. I have seen what it takes to suceed in africa and its not depending on other people. 2ndly running around at universities doesnt remove poverty. Last over the last decade millions of africans have gone to skool and yet they are hungry.

  • Eygpt is not considered sub saharan africa. Again eypt does not sharew the international image of poverty as africa. Eygpt is considered more arabic than african. Ask a north african what they are and see their response. Again nigeria is the 2nd largest economy in africa.

  • Comment removed

  • Egypt is still considered a developing country.

  • Yes but i said like africa. When the Imf or world bank gives africa aid they determine what it is used for. Hence the reason i have been screaming infrastructure. Many aid organisations and gov to gov aid do not use it to build infrastructure like in japan, ireland, britain etc. This is why i told u giving aid the way it is given to africa has not worked any where on the planet. But cutting off aid has e..g india ,china all blocked the west out of their income. Rwanda cut their aid supply by 15%

  • And they had a 20% increase in wages and double digit national growth to their system. Currently kagame is pushing to completely eliminate the aid. And u want to know who said he was crazy and is about to cause another genocide, the west and all the african educated beggars. Yet they are now progressing a higher rate. They have chosen trade over aid. Most ppl like u are asking for an increase in aid, instead of a phasing out of it. Educated beggars like u is destroying africa.

  • Comment removed

  • Thousands more are gaining when they get it they fly out u know why, BECAUSE THERE AINT NO JOBS OR ECONOMY FOR THEM TO WORK IN because their leaders have been too busy depending on aid. And let me inform u, educating them only creates much smarter soldiers. What africa needs is infrastructure and discipline, if aid should be sent in it should be for building infrastructure. Yet when its forcefully alocated it is sent to food and education. Which means they dont have what it take to advance from

  • where they started due to lack of infrastructures. The donors determine what the aid is used for as there are no african on the aid boards in most cases and they dont stop to ask what is actually need. There are millions of unemployed educated africans, educating more means nothing. The uneducated should be trained in unskilled forms to make the grass roots and jobs created for the educated. These jobs cant come from aid, as aid is created to create jobs for the west 500000 to be precised.

  • So before u start running ur mouth and proving to know to much look at the big picture. Its all u educated beggars that further screw africa up. Africa must be dependent on it own to grow. And as i said look at nigeria. We get no aid, thus we have less of the problems seen. So all we have against us now is poor leadership. How many african countries can boost of that. By the way thats a bad thing in case u dont know, but most cant even say they have that. Give me a country where aid worked,

  • Not just worked but was used in the same format as is done in africa. And i will give u countries that went independent and grew or atleast were allowed to build infrastructures. Also my point can be proven with what the chinese are doing in africa.
