  • 3 kiwis dont like this

  • yes i agree but i think that new zealand were good but they had a bad season losing to the baabaas and the scarlets

  • @gezhughes tbh the all blacks are still awesome. their win - loss record is one of if not the best for any international side in any sport

  • @ 0:25 the No.8 passes the ball forward to the No.9 who then dots down for the corner try, "the greatest try ever" clearly a forward pass, "The greatest try ever" was by jonah lomu @ the 95 world cup where he bowled mike cats for six HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • What the ref doesn't see isn't illegal, and just brute force does not make a great try, I don't remember that try but that's what he usually does

  • R U KIDDING ME O_O mad ass try

Lol dey all had long hair derr

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • Scarlets beat them in 1973 aswell

  • Bludy HELL !!!

  • That's an amazing try, if only because the outhalf who started everything off actually ran the ball, instead of just trying to kick to touch. A lot of outhalves could learn a lot from this video.

  • Best try ever!

and the team is called barbarians

and it was a forward pas but they alowed it

  • was this wales?

  • Barbarians!(Y)

  • barabarians mate but full of welsh! we were the best then

  • amazing try but 0:25 is a forward pass. still the best try ever tho

  • Let's call it flat...

  • christ i think the commentater has shit him self lol

  • Not only was this an incredible try.

but the surroundings to the actual game was great as well, with the barbarians tour they lost every game but this one.

And as Edwards said, many people only remember the first few mins because of the try, by no means was that game an easy one.

  • thats amazing rugby for ya.

  • sum try......dats good quality rugby.

  • WHAT A TRY :|

  • Je suis d'accord pour dire que c'est un des plus beau essais au monde!

  • preety good

  • that is amazing!!

  • truly the best try ever

  • bennetts sidesteps are amazing

  • wicked try that.

  • that's awsome

  • WHOOO I MET GARETH EDWARDS THE OTHER DAY IN THE DUBAI RUGBY 7's!

  • amazing

  • there was a forwards pass

  • hahaha!

    funny joke

  • MEANNNNNNNNNN!

  • Gareth Edwards went to my school. He gave a speech the other day, was hard to understand him through that thick Welsh accent!

  • what a try

  • gets better every time i watch it. i love rugby like that, union or league

  • I Wouldn't say the best But i would say one of the best .

  • wow o.0

  • Terrific try, pity we don,t see this in union these days, more people might watch.

  • i think u may be confused, leauge has like 1 pass per game. union is all passing basically

  • i thought i posted another comment to fix wat i said. oh well wat i meant to say was league needs more passsing. Soz everyone.

  • and kicking and drawn out scrums and lineouts..league is all running and passing jackass! Am a kiwi and this is one of the best tries I have seen on youtube

  • Your the one confused - it's the other way around. You'd know that if you'd ever seen either game.

  • are u sure?

union - sarecens, the world cup,

leauge - st. helens, tri nations).

im not saying union is better (it is) jus that it has a LOT more passing!

  • In the 70's and 80's, Rugby union was a fantastic running and passing game but throughout the 90's and 2000's kicking has become far more prominent, with the exception of the All Blacks. There have been some good rule changes that have allowed the game to become more running styled but as it stands at the moment, League has far more passing movements and Union has far more kicking.

If Union can get back to the style of play shown in this clip it'll be all for the betterment of the game.

  • fair enuff..

  • This is the greatest try of all time. Its the peak moment in British rugby history(Prob that and beating SA 4-0 in SA and NZ 2-1 in NZ in the same period).

A try virtually from kickoff against the worlds most famous rugby team.

British Isles teams( except for the odd exception now and then) haven't lived up to that brilliance in attack. Mores the pity.

Pretty ordinary AB team as well on this occasion (if there is such a thing)

  • yo spazman football get different lines for defense and offense, where as a rugby team has to defend and score at the same time with one line. it isnt stop and go like football with all the timeouts and time to hudle up, its make it up as u go and remeber ur plays and w/e. so consider that when thinking of teamwork

  • yeah thats true, but most players, even in the college level occasionally, play both sides of the football.

btw, defense in football is almost completely based on positioning and reactions (rugby is the same thing).

and i stick by my previous statement, there is nothing more difficult in terms of teamwork than the o-line moving as one.

  • wow, i got the 60,000th view!

  • pfff i could do that in my sleep...

  • hahahahahahahahahahaaha oh man watevaa

  • you dont see that kind of teamwork in the NFL

  • wtf are you talking about, 11 guys on an american football team have to work together just as much as these guys, having played both i can safely say that both require the same amounts of teamwork, in different ways perhaps but still... I think you're not paying attention to the offensive line (the height of teamwork) or the entire defense on a football team.

  • u are right dude, all sports are good. there are is no "best" sport. its HOW you play, not WHAT you play.

  • you're getting bagged on by narrowminded Euros! I find that funny - I expected your comment to be an ignorant assessment of rugby from someone who doesn't know the game (which there is plenty of from NFL fans). I agree with you entirely - place value on both sports, yet entirely prefer rugby.

  • you dont see that kind of teamwork in the NFL

  • Asolutely brilliant piece of sporting history .From the place ,the players ,the try ,the commentary the moment.Thank you Wales!

  • Debate all you like....that is the greatest try ever!!! "Oh...that fellow Edwards!"

  • good but not the best

  • mean try but not best ever

  • brilliant try but not best ever

  • c mon u welsh !!!! , well c mon u 75 % welsh

  • This is NOT the best try ever. The best try was scored by France against New-Zeland, it's official!

  • that was sweet

  • the bah-bahs back then were basically the welsh team!

  • damn that was good lol, need I say anymore?

  • WHAT A EFFING TRY !:-O

  • that is incredible. no arguing, best try ever

  • I cannot ever see this try being surpassed especially the way the mordern game is played nowadays.

  • BRILLANT BY QUINNELL

  • but seriously. what poetry, what a moment in rugby. This try will forever echoe in the universe

  • the best try ever was mine at 4th team rugby practice. it was so good i wanted to cry.

  • forward, but awesome none the less

  • didn't go forward, just a poor camera angle! you can see the line where the grass changes length that it wasn't forward :)

  • Was abit forward ... but hay, great rugby that. Wales had sime big talent then

  • what a move i have 2 say but 1 pass looked forward

  • went forward... ;)

  • strange, how come none of the dudes here are meatheads like nowadays??

  • o n every 1 who touched the ball was welsh execpt pullen

  • no im not u ass garth edwards welsh n phil bennet dick head

  • yeah that was the best

  • best try ever....enough said

  • best try ever! and it doesnt matter if the last pass was forward because the side stepping and offloading in the tackle are probably about the best youll ever see. AWESOME

  • You are talking bollocks jackbutton169

  • and some say rugby doesnt require skill! shows the pussy footballers how its done

  • sorry folks, the last pass is FORWARD. Shouldnt have been awarded. :(

  • Smart ass.lol Compare that pass angle to the 22 meter line that appears soon after, its not forward....the camera angle decieved you.

  • wow

  • fucking goosebumps

  • Is this League or Union?

  • This is Rugby Union. The game was The Barbarians v New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park, 27th Jan 1973. Welsh international Gareth Edwards scored the try.

  • Are you serious?

  • yes..lol I started to play rugby this year (im trying to learn more about it)... and in my country we just have rugby union...

  • Sorry, It's Rugby Union, the All Blacks are the New Zealand rugby Union team, the Barbarians are an invitational side from all over the world, although this try was mostly Welsh players (and 1 English).

  • I see... So de Barbarians are like a "selection" of the best union players... aren't they?

  • Yes, kind of. They traditionally don't have much time to train together or work out tactics, and so the games have traditionally been very open, free-flowing games, but tend not to be too concerned with the 'tighter' areas of the game. Normally no-one kicks penalties in Barbarians games, but try to score tries, as it's an exhibition game.

  • that is the best try you will ever see. sows how crap football is

  • This is one of those tries you have to show and explain to every young player. Its incredible skill yet looks so simple.

  • check my video for another great try. fantastic try this one though

  • oh my god

  • Still the best try even after 34 years

  • i bought the whole game for my dad on DVD. the whole thing is briliant

  • hahahahah views: 10,288 comments: 3
