@JamesPliny 8x10. Plenty of room for 2 plus gear in open configurations and very spacious for one. For about an extra 4 +/- ounces and 8x10 gives you alot of options compared to a 6x10 or smaller, and loads of living space if your by yourself.
Great vids, question. I heard from another youtuber that its best for the opening of the tarp to be south facing but what if the wind is blowing south?
@defuzed28 There are cultures that always pitch there shelters so the exit is facing south, mostly from a religious point of view.... I prefer to always be facing south eastish with the door, so my head can point north west (I seem to sleep best like that), but if the conditions didn't allow that, then yeah, I'd face the entrance out of the wind.
@jdunc usually some deet based repellant, being careful not to get it on skin or anything nylon. In the summer its some lightweigh netting, though frankly after growing up in marshy South Carolina i dont find the southern Appalachians that buggy. Where I grew up It was tent or be driven insane by mosquitoes and gnats and well....all kinds of critters.
fantastic video im starting to get into tarp camping, ive been a little worried about this type of shelter cos of the amount of spiders and snakes that we do have in australia but i guess thats something i'll have to work out for myself. thanks for the idears though
Hey brother! There is nothing I can say but excellent video. These are perfect demonstrations of wilderness survival is about. you got 5 stars in my book, keep the good work, hiker Lou.

@Masowai skeeters. LOL

@vivitar45 Your right on that. Netting or some other bug tending option becomes neccesary in buggy territory.

@Pagansdad What do you use for bug protection?

great stuff, thanks for sharing. I'm hoping to use a tarp as my shelter, and this has been a great help.
