AT 6:21 we see the video of the alleged nuclear test at Christmas Island. It is a fraud. Notice how none of the clouds in the video move despite such a violent explosion
@itsameea1 I wasn't referring to the song or music. It is probably a good song. I am talking about the alleged nuclear test at 6:21 in the video at Christmas Island. It is fraud. It did not happen. There was no nuclear test at Christmas Island. They pretended that they killed Rudolph when really they did no such thing.
Buck Dharma is just better than everyone at everything. I think he's half human half alien and he's channelling some kinda of alien power from a dimension where only bosons and Buck Dharma are allowed in.
Blue Oyster Cult is the only one and original and all those hundreds of darks and gothics that follows are copies. Their fans need to know that. If they know they wouldn't state their fav bands are the greatest in the history blah blah. BOC are genesis for all of them.
When this song first came out, the Cold War was in full bloom. The fall of the Iron Curtain was over twenty years in the future. The Vietnam War was just ending. Between the US and Russia, there were literally tens of thousands of nuclear weapons in the world, ready to be fired at a second's notice. Cell phones were an impossibility. TV's had three channels and mebbe one or two of UHF. The intenet and PC's were dreams. It was a different world.
I have been to countless concerts over the years. i have seen BOC more than anyone else and it was by chance. i love these guys live. they blow doors. sad thing is, when they were at their best, they weren't popular with the mainstream audience. poor misguided fools... along with pink floyd, they will always be a favorite band to me.
Badass B O C Song. Memories of watchin Mid-nite Movies, Partyin, Cardi's Houston. Also brings back memories of my ex, Wonder what ever happened to Her? Rock-n-Roll!
@kurt771965 that shit was a joke! im not sayin hendrix wasnt one of the worlds greatest guitarists, but to categorize somebody as number one, (especially over forty years ago) is just ridiculous. he inspired a lot of guitarists to think outside the box, but its the same now as it was then: theres thousands of guitarists out there better than hendrix, better than dimebag, better than blackmore, that have yet to be discovered. big popularity contest. bunch of names being thrown out.
@ShaneMoFxxxinHuff No kidding. I think most of Jimi's "greatness" came from the fact that he invested so much of himself emotionally into his playing. I can honestly say that he's one of few players who put his entire body, mind, and soul into his guitar playing and that really comes out in his music. But there are several other guitarists who do this just as well, and can probably be considered more technically skilled than Jimi ever was.
@kurt771965 i bought that december 8th release for some humor and oh man.... essentially its a list pretty much put together for what folks want to see in a top 100. The Edge number 38 johnny ramone 28 brian may just two spots ahead of that. George Harrison should not be as high as 11 not big on stevie ray vaughan at 12. Jerry Garcia only 46. Bonnie friggin raitt on the list?
@notoriodtc George Harrison got 11, while Jerry only got 46??? Clearly whatever this "list" is was based on popularity and not outright skill. Jerry always makes at least the top fifteen for me, depending on what I'm listing. His skill in improvisation has gone completely unmatched since the sixties....there were probably some jazz players who were better back in the day, but from 65 on Jerry Garcia was the king of improv.
@jbender23 yeah about Jerry i had always passed him up when the dead got really into the bluegrass type sound UNTIL i got the fillmore west 3 disc set from 1969 and holy frjiole their blues influences shine - morning dew is mesmerizing and the rest of the show garcia shines, dark star, death dont have no mercy, st stephen all fantastic stuff
@kurt771965 Frank Zappa should be top 10 if not 5 no question. John Mclaughlin only 68... theres a top 10 guy as well seeing as how he helped miles davis invent a genre very few tried to even replicate. Notables left off include: dick wagner, terry kath (seeing as how hendrix said he was better heh heh), fogerty, george lynch, gary moore, steve hackett, martin barre, robin trower, adam jones, roy buchanan (a definite top 10), alvin lee, michael schenker, steve howe and plenty others
@partyboycoo i'm trolling because i don't believe in giving people credit in what they listen to due to their age? ok then, carry on influencing them to be arrogant as fuck.
@partyboycoo it would be his business, and would keep his own business, if he didn't state it as if it made him unique on a public site. it's just a gripe i have with people, when they think they're cool as fuck due to liking a few bands/genres others there age don't.

Kickass song from a kickass animated movie! i was introduced to this song when i saw HM on TBS about 18 years ago when i was 12 thanks to looking at my TV Guide to see what will come on friday and saturday nights then wallah i watched it, loved it. I also watched other cool adult animated cult movies like Rock and Rule, Vampire Hunter D, American Pop and Robot Carnival as well, loved them too.
@Johnlindsey289 They chopped that movie all to hell on TBS. See it on DVD, man! I watched it on TNT, and was amazed that the running time for the TV version was shorter than the running time for the whole movie, including commercials.
Rock N Rule, Robot Carnival, and Vampire Hunter D were amazing!
When i was 15 i bought it on video when it finally came out legally with soundtrack and saw it uncut uncensored especially to see my animated crush known as Taarna in the buff. I made myself copies of RC, VHD and R&R on uncut rental tapes on blank tapes when i was 14, VHD is awesome but have you seen it's sequel? i got HM on DVD since 2000 after my high school graduation and own VHD and R&R on 2-Disc DVDs since they were released on DVD
@Johnlindsey289 what was the name of the movie??? i have vampier hunter d 1 n 2 that shit was awsome!! as well as both heavy metal movies (stuff of legends!!) man i even had the video game for psx back in the day!!
@zeroa69 did you know James Cameron is a fan of the movie Heavy Metal and the comic magazine? he used both as some of his various inspirations to his film Avatar and you can tell Avatar was like one big screen issue of HM Magazine or like HM the movie in CGI/Live-action as Cameron loves animated movies especially Sci-fi/fantasy. It's like Cameron combined HM with Ferngully, Nausicaa, Dune, Star Wars, Last of the Mohicans,Castle in The Sky, Princess Mononoke, Lightyears and Willow in one film

@soumyaaymous - I can agree with that. But then again Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" sounds alot like Blue Öyster Cult's "Shooting Shark". Very strange. But then again both Queen and Blue Öyster Cult are among my absolute favorite bands so I don't care. They're all good songs! :)
This is an amazing testimonial of what BOC was live, an awesome band that still playing around, and Buck's virtuosity at his most enhanced speed !!!. Needless to say that now plays better, since he has more experience. The best for him and all BOC present memebers !!!
Extended live version is on ETI Live ..Extraterrestrial live ..a must have Album for any rockers collection ..A Flic of my Bic and i am there again ! thanks for rocking my as off the last 40 years BOC .
With the Soft White Underbelly AKA BOC, you knew you were getting some cerebral Deep musical message, I was a bit surprised to learn they weren't writing the lyrical content and sometimes couldn't even define a particular song's real meaning. Also interesting that Eric Bloom ages pretty slow, he always looks about the same...like me

Is Buck playing a strat in this video? Can't believe he is not playing a gibson....
TideatMileHigh 2 days ago
popularity does not equal skill, ability etc.
BOC should take comfort from all the fans & musicians that they have and continue to inspire & influence.
Of course Buck is one of the very best guitarists out there. Any serious musician would know that. He just doesn't have mainstream popularity.
Just be thankful you have heard of BOC and enjoy!!!

soumyaaymous 7 months ago
@soumyaaymous - I can agree with that. But then again Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" sounds alot like Blue Öyster Cult's "Shooting Shark". Very strange. But then again both Queen and Blue Öyster Cult are among my absolute favorite bands so I don't care. They're all good songs! :)

@GeorgVanHalen yeh they all influenced each other...its only natural that people will be influenced by their contemporaries !!

this is just great. Stands on its own, even without the heavymetal cartoon.

wasn't this co-written with Michael Moorcock?

@touaregk
Don't think so : it was "Black Blade", whole text from MM

Wow, what a handful of badly applied, horrifically unpleasing 1980s video effects. Otherwise, BOC wins as usual :D
kashzone 8 months ago
@kashzone those video affects make this song soo much more eerie.

This is an amazing testimonial of what BOC was live, an awesome band that still playing around, and Buck's virtuosity at his most enhanced speed !!!. Needless to say that now plays better, since he has more experience. The best for him and all BOC present memebers !!!

literally the most tasteful guitar solo ever played.
