  • Very short. What gives people?

  • jet mars is better than astro boy

  • If it weren't for Astroboy, every other anime wouldn't exist. That goes for Mazinger,Gatchaman,Gundam the originals, and many more.

  • definitely*

  • well drawn, but why does it have to be voiced by Americans?????????

i'll wait for DVD or until I find a Japanese voiced version. LOL

  • As long as you can understand it then why the fuck does it matter? Perhaps you just enjoy subtitles.

  • go watch a Japanese anime...anything. assume you have Cartoon Network. go watch the Gundam 00 or Fullmetal Alchemist in English Dub and then go watch the same exact episode in it's original Japanese with subs. I'm sure you will understand the difference and find the English dub amazingly stupid and all the voice actor has no emotions.

  • I've watched plenty of Japanese animes and they some of the stupidest shit in the world on them. First of all, the two you just named are subpar animes and so is Astrofag.

  • name'em.

those two are just examples of English dub vs original Japanese Senyu. has nothing to do with if the anime's good or not.

  • Dragon Ball Z has some really fucking stupid pointless shit in it.

  • you've watched many anime and that's the only thing you could name? an anime from 14 years ago?

  • Wow, do we really have to go through all this. Naruto (great anime....really stupid shit sometimes), Bleach (great anime....really stupid shit sometimes. Same with almost every other anime. It's the Japanese way.

  • this proves you ARE an idiot other than picking the great Tar Heels.

Naruto and Bleach anime are considered very shitty for those that actually read the comic book in it's original text.

  • Oh, and Gundam is just plain stupid. Very hard to keep up with that shit when there is like a thousand different versions. FMA was good every once in a while, but it has alot of episodes that put you to sleep. I guess those could come in handy if I need help sleeping.

  • Gundams = very hard to keep up with? LMAO. maybe it's hard to keep up because you've only watched whatever Cartoon Network is showing. LMAO...

  • LMFAO. you obviously have not seen a lot of animes judging from the list you mentioned. All of them were on Cartoon Network one time or another with shitty English dubs.

  • Watched all of Bleach up to where the Vizards and most of Soul Society is about to take on Aizen. Watched a hell of a lot of Naruto Shippuden. If CN is that far into it then holy shit.....that was fast.

  • Oh and yes. I am definiately an idiot for stating that I enjoyed an anime. In no way, shape, or form did I say, "Well compared to the manga....this anime fit it exactly and is therefore great". Dumbass.

  • ROFL....you need to start watching some real animes instead of ones that started as manga and gets turned into animes.

if you can't think clearly and make one single post, don't post at all.

  • Lol, this comes from the guy that called Mangas.....Comic Books. Seriously. You obviously know nothing. FMA....give me a fucking break.

  • ROFL...I apologize. I didn't know you actually would know what 漫画 means.

  • What is this movie rated?

  • I'd rather wait for it to go on tv cuz it doesn't look that worth watching but still I love astro boy

  • That what I first thought of Transforers.

  • I saw the trailer while watching Twilight on DVD this might look cool.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that plays in the trailer?

  • This is actually a pretty good representation of astroboy, asthetically. Sure everything isn't EXACTLY the same in every microscopic way, in my opinion it doesn't look bad though. Then again I may be the minority, espescially sense I thought the Speed Racer Movie was excellent. You guys are forgetting that even with anime it is the people doing a good job behind it and keeping the spirit of the anime that trully matters, not like shitty DB Evolution movie, ICH!

  • Who knows, they might actually do a DECENT job on this movie with it NOT BEING LIVE ACTION...but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • woooooow id rather watch the original

  • 音楽いいね 海外でもアトムが受けることを願うよ

  • Very nice

  • ew, i hate anime... especially when its turned into a movie.... two tumbs down... and a bit of throw up :/

  • hehehehe i like that . . and a bit of throw up :P

not that im agreeing astro boy rocks :))

    xx

  • at least they didnt turned it into a live action movie it would look soo retarded

  • AHHhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

  • Hah I bet they're "americanising" almost everything Japanese today because of the success that they had with "Speed Racer". Remember it? It was actually a popular anime series way before Dragon Ball and Naruto was born.

  • The cgi sux Americans ruin everything they touch (see: Godzilla)

  • (see: Dragon Ball: Evolution)

  • Yeah I guess.. *sighs*by the I just realised now that almost everything from animation to games that are made in Japan are being taken by USA and americanising them into movies. You know? Dragon Ball Oak Evolution, Legend of Chun Li, Zelda and now this one?

  • If 'Americanising' was a word, what you said may have made sense.

  • i thought it was gonna be live action when i first heard of it 3 years ago.... thank heaven its not live action.

  • ah men to that!!

  • It looks OK. Not the best but OK.

  • hey man astroboy is cool but im extremely disappointed its animated :( so i proly wont see it

  • wow. another stupid kid movie.

  • By the way I heard that this movie will be based on the ORIGINAL story by Osamu Tezuka, the original creator of ATOM Boy.

It's not based on the new ASTRO Boy anime on 2005.

  • One thing is the story, but another thing is the visual appearance of the characters. The movie might be faithful to the story, but from what I have seen from this trailer, it is not faithful to the characters' intended appearance. Just look at Dr. Elefun - does he look like Dr. Elefun? NO NO NO! Where's his characteristic elephant nose? Nowhere to be seen! The movie got rid of what really identified him as Dr. Elefun - his nose. And Dr. Tenma - does he look like Tenma? NO! Not anymore.

  • So, what matters is not just the story, but also the visual appeal - remember, Tezuka wasn't a novelist, but a manga artist, where BOTH story AND art have equal weight or importance. If the movie is faithful to the original story but not to the original art, then it is not faithful to Tezuka's original work. Period.

In other words, this movie sucks, even more than the 2005 anime. Indeed, the 2005 anime didn't suck - it was Sony America's (Columbia/Tristar's) handling of it that sucked.

  • Wait a minute, in the original story did Dr. Tenma and Elefun create Astro?

  • In the original story, Dr. Tenma, then director of the Institute of Science, created Astro Boy to replace his dead son, but was unsatisfied with it because it was unable to grow so he sold it to a robot circus. Something then happened to Tenma that he left his director position, and Dr. Elefun, who was not involved with the creation of Astro, took over the vacant. He later attended a robot circus event and spotted Astro there, then he bought it back upon spotting the apparent robot abuse there.

  • So, in other words, this movie screwed up the origin of Astro Boy by putting both Tenma and Elefun together, something that never happened in the original story. So far the only two Astro Boy productions that are largely faithful to the original manga story are the 1963 Japanese anime (the American version did some plot and location changes, in addition to the name changes) and the 1983 color anime.

  • Good looking CGI. However In moving him into the 3-D realm, the producers should have done a more faithful transcription of Astro's original character design. The Americanized look is not really working all that well with me.

  • what do you mean "Americanized"?

  • By 'Americanized' he means that this movie; Astroboy which was originally a japanese cartoon (aka anime) is now beign made by America, therefore Americanised.

I agree.. I remember watching Astroboy and collecting his figures when I was a kid.. this is too americansied for me too

  • Agreed. This movie should've been left to the Japanese, not to the same company that screwed TMNT back in 2006.

And now I'm starting to worry about Steven Spielberg's plans to bring Ghost in the Shell to live action.

  • Not as much as I'm afraid of Evangelion's live action interpretation.

  • I understand that this is going to be produced by an american production crew, but I still dont really see anything thats been changed from his original design.

  • But now that you mention it,his face looks a little uh...eh I dunno weird. And im really skeptical about the idea of that little bastard from "charle and the chocolate factory " voicing him.

  • Yeah me too...Freddie Highmore huh?... he's not bad but I'm worried about the other character's voices too. I think Astro's just wearing clothes because he's going to school or something but the voice is definitely shocking to look at..ihis face reminds me of Monster House and Polar Express which by I think Dreamworks produced this..just hope that they don't change the original story

  • i think they did the best job they could do with it and it looks great in my opinion

  • Also, from that trailer, I have noticed that Dr. Elefun has lost his characteristic "elephant nose", so the Elefun name will no longer make sense. As I said, this should've been left to the Japanese, only to those who really know and remember Tezuka's graphical work.

  • yeah but we only saw one angle of him so maybe in the theatrical trailer we'll see the others and decide if we like'm

  • It's a cartoon. Ever heard of voice-overs?

  • The only failure in this pergectly succesful Jvpanese series is that THIS MOVIE in "american". How Japanese people accepted to give this wonderful masterpiece to "them"?!.

I can't imagine how astroboy is going to sout and scream like a typical american monkey.

Guys I'm also tired of WILL SMITH movies. SO american. Why don't they engage some european touches in order the movies to be more succesful?

    anyway.

    bye

  • actually if you looked at the voice cast

    astro boy is british.

and the company, if you even checked it out has an asian president, and all story scripts go by him first before production

    american? who knows

but dont go saying things you hardly even know about.

  • ok I accept what you say but I see on this video that faces are euro-americanised and lost the jap touch.

  • fan want live action

  • Not me no thanks, I don't want another A.I. (Artificial Intellegence) movie.

  • a.i eE... i dont like that movie...
