@jesubono For me Marvel is dead since Marvel Comics were bankrupt and reopened as just Marvel. Back in the day when i had no Internet, i was watching Spider-Man movie and first thing i noticed was the absence of Comics word, so it was just Marvel. I thought - WTF???
@jesubono Well I suppose that would depend on your definition of "admired." I don't think there ARE a lot of admired writers today in general but there are certainly some brilliant ones out there. Which "admired" modern writers would you consider "jokes?"
I was at this convention and due inpart to my wonderful mother and how well she can talk her way into and out of any sitiation i had lunch with John and his wife that day... we went to the pizza place in that mall right down from the con... I still have the sketch he made for me...
Absolutely incredible. Romita proves once again that he is easily one of the greatest comic book artists of all time, and definitely THE greatest at drawing faces. I've seen him do sketches like this in person, and the ease and total mastery with which he does them is STAGGERING.
There's John Romita drawing and talking away and we can't hear or see what he's drawing and talking about because the knob filming him is more interested in describing the crap that his camera can do. Lucky thing this guy had nothing to do with the filming of the moon landing. The World would have heard his description of the camera work instead of the "one small step for man..." speech. It's a wonder the cameraCLOWN didn't ask John Romita to film him.
This is the different of those artists and the ones today. Artists like RomitaSR only cared to make the art speak for itself. Nowadays? Its like a soap opera running around of burned bridges and internet attacks.
I enjoy some of the art toay, but its with artists of he caliber of RomitaSR that one actually learns something.
I love the talk about how awesome the camcorder is.

@jesubono Dude, most of those old characters are still around and most of the old writers that are still working today have turned into a joke.

good ol Ring-A-Ding Romita never takes short-cuts, or atleast if he does it certainly doesn't look like it!

Romita Sr and Jr are both phenominal artists but my taste for the classics always leaves me craving for Sr.

Instant depth! No other company touches Marvels' bullpen of artists' quality from the sixties. IMHO. :D
