its not eguptian its from macedonia and thrace(ie northern greece) it derives from the word Κοπτω(kopto) which means to cut and the greek name is kopida it was used in ancient thrace originally and it progressed to the rest of the world due to it being something between a sword and an axe,it is very easy to use in combat(even for a novice) but has very restricted moves, unlike a xiphos which requires a lot of training but is more manipulable!
think its pronounce ko-pesh but its great weapon eather way you say it, not only is it great for hacking slashing but its still got a point for stabing but the tip is like a hook so you can also youse it to pull down a shield or even pull the other persons sword right out there hand and the bottem point of the curve is good for holding some 1 hostage, put some 1s neck in the flat part between the handgard and the point so if the move you rip out the adams apple, veary tatical sword
@epicfantasy Thanks so much! Yeah, I made a giant battle axe out of cardboard (I can send you a video of it) And it bent over in like, four places. :(
Ok I see lots of people making cardboard and paper weapons but I never can seem to find out why? Can anybody answer that? If you're a kid or making it for a kid great but is there any other reason?
@7689568 some people do various types of role playing with weapons and armor, cosplay and larping. some of my viewers make them as movie props for their youtube vids. This particular sword is kind of interesting because of the history of it.
@ClaudiuMarijuana Wow! What a fantastic story. Thanks! I am going to look this up. It would be cool to travel to Romania. Dracula's Castle not far from there right?
In the Romanian folklore there is a story about our ancestors called Daci.
Well Dacii used to fight against the romans, and since we where outnumbered we used the terrain and the fear on our side, when we went to battle we used to have in the top of our flags a wolf shaped form and when air used to gash in it it made a sound as a wolf howl, think about going at war in the forest at night and hearing in the distance thousands of wolfs coming your way (next post)
you went Cairo COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome sword. I'll do this when i have everything i need.Cardboard time strong enough scissors. You know, everything it takes. But i will get to it before December.
This would make a great forge project. Not sure if I will be shutting down the forge for the winter though. Starting to get really cold here in New England!
@ArtistBlade1972 Lol at your channel and name. If it is not hard, do it yourself! :D I guess this guy doesn't have the experience/materials for a real one. Or the tools.
@Naba008 He is trying to get into making functional/decorative knives and swords. He just seems a little apprehensive about it, so I keep trying to nudge him into giving it a shot. It would be a good first time design because it would be somewhat easy to forge into that shape. He has all the tools he needs to do it. Experience is gained through practice. Maybe I'll make a video of the forging process of a blade of this design...
@versatilechicken Good eye on this. You are right. Those corrugations definitely take away from it. I was thinking about using celluclay or paper mache on this sword. It would make a very big difference.
u know what you could do with a sword like that? if you make the curve bigger somehow tie string onto the curve ends and make a half bow, half sword and half axe:0
@dragonheart96 yeah youd need to cut an opening on the axe part of the blade for your hands to hold for when you want to fire your arrows.. ITs a good idea. But you might need the handle to be longer for two hands to balance it cause it'd get some weight on the blade end.. But thats a hella cool idea.
It wasnt made for hacking it the curved part of the blade was meant to deflect the blade ofe the enemies sword

Would you recomend cardboard, or posterboard? Because I see you using cardboard in your older videos more. Thank you! :D
BeenieBomb 3 months ago
@BeenieBomb Definitely poster board. The thing about cardboard is that you can usually get it for free. The posterboard costs a few dolllars.

you should paper mache it the corrugation makes the sword looks less pretty =)

@epicfantasy Why not just sandwich the sides with cereal box cardbord, use the stronger corrugated stuff for a strong base.
