The interface is great but it isn't a good idea to have that on your PC, simple because a computer can handle more than just boxes, fast movement, shortcuts. beside that,not everyone have the same color choice. They invented this type of interface for Mobile phones and Pads to have a much more reliable and faster system. This to me, shows how Microsoft got lazy after making Windows 7. Changes are good, but why change something that works.

I have a Win7 PC but it doesn't run any of my legacy apps: Word and Excel 97? Nope. Orcad? Nope. Palm address book? Nope. They just refuse to run. The OS won't recognize them as validexe's. I guess Ballmer want's me to buy new versions of everything. I might aswell have bought a Mac for all the non-existent compatibility of Win7. Next time I'm buying a Mac.

Also - who want's a touch interface on a desktop? Fingerprints all over the screen and no mouse pointer. Daft idea.

Windows 8 is simply Microsoft catching up with Apple. Windows 8 doesn't really offer anything new. It's an experience where they are trying to bring a tablet to a computer pc. For a home PC without a touch screen I don't think the Metro UI will be too useful with a mouse. Still doesn't show me anything worthy of jumping back to Microsoft from Mac OSX

There was nothing new about Windows 8 in this keynote... And they were talking only for the Metro interface. They are focusing too much on it. And I would like to see some demos on what are the new tools and functionalities in the regular interface. Metro is a touch friendly interface and it wouldn't be very practical for my laptop. So if I have to choose between beauty(Metro) and functionality(regular interface), I choose functionality. At least we have some info about it on the Windows 8 blog.

I'm pretty impressed with windows 8... But I still have a feeling that they are literally stealing Apple's ideas... Apple already developed this type of UI in Lion OS... It was like iOS on your Mac... In Windows 8, its like you have Windows Phone on your PC... Apple developed the Apple App Store and now Windows have it(Windows really needed one)... People are right.. @radaz77 You talking here about Intent system which is one of fundamential functions of Android, you don't see that as a user but Intents most basic function is executing apps, not shering, it's a system in which diffrentapps activities and system communicate with eachother. If you ever watch video or read book with introduction to Android development, the thing that they talk with most exitment is Intent system, it's so wide and can do a lot more stuff to get exited just by shere function ;]

I really like the Metro UI but I really hate how they give "programs" the ugly looking square tiles while the apps get the nice ones.

Also, I hate how you don't have the option to customize the background of Metro UI other than those provided by Microsoft. >:(

They should give an option where the background of the Metro UI would mimic that of the desktop but toned down to highlight the apps.
