This is only one of the delightful stories in Terrell Dougan's book THAT WENT WELL. It's a heart warming read that became the holiday gift for all my friends. Thanks Terrell for your stamina, courage, good heart and great writing skills!
I filmed it myself, which you can certainly see......sorry it isn't more professionally done. But it was hard to get the firement organized to re-film the thing (by the way, there were at least 10 fireman when it really happened.)
Thanks for your reply! You can see my daughter Olivia on a video I posted to my YouTube account. She spoke her first word a couple of weeks ago.
I look forward to reading your book. Found it through Sandra Dallas' picks. Always looking for books about people dealing with adversity, especially related to developmental disability.
Loved this! As a mom to daughter with cognitive disabilities, it's both heart-warming and reassuring to see kindness in our society. Thanks for posting.
This is a lovely video! kudos to her fireman friends :)
The book is one of my all time favorites.. and now lives on a shelf at the school where I work with special needs kids, so that others can peek into Irene's life too.
This moving movie is generous-spirited and has a happy ending; inspiring stuff, just like the book. Brava to both Terrell and Irene...and to the firemen! (And to those kids who changed their minds).
I've met Terrell and have read "That Went Well." I LOVED the book and the honesty and reality that Terrell depicted in the book about life with Irene. This video clip is really special. I'm so impressed by Terrell and Irene's relationship.
I had the privilege of meeting Terrell and sometime later Irene. I have read "That Went Well" which I enjoy up to the most and learned much more about Irene and life with her great sister. It takes a special kind of love to have a sister like Terrell.
This is one of the most memorable parts of Terrell and Irene's story! My three school-age daughters and I have read "That Went Well" and learned a lot about how we treat one another as sisters, and unique individuals with our own special needs. We are fans of Irene and it is great to see this story in action! Thanks for sharing.
