I watched this video last night. I tried it today and it actually worked pretty well. Really like this move bro. Thanks for uploading it. Much appreciated
@CavemanProductions29 Not to be hateful, but I disagree with both parts... The Darce and Triangle can play very nicely together if you have a developed game and many options to threaten with. If everyone knows you've only got a darce (or any other sub) then of course it'll get harder to land it because everyone will avoid the Hell out of it.
I love the d'arce choke and everyone at my gym knows thats what im going for 99% of the time, this move is very nice but very hard to actually get unless the person is new to bjj.
@damng I actually disagree whole-heartedly that it's very hard to catch someone unless they're new to BJJ. The Darce is one of my go-to chokes on high-level opponents because of the level of control that it offers.
@TechniquePrevails .....I agree with you, this is a go to choke.....I get it on all types of people.....new and advanced.....really sneaky if you know what you are doing...
I have tried this several times on many different ppl. and they almost always get their closest knee back in for half guard or butterfly guard. Everybody in my gym knows I luv the D'arce from many different angles, and they expect it from me so now i use it to set them up. I like this one but cannot pull it off on anybody other than newbies.
The only problem I have with this technique is that when I'm going for darce, my opponent usually has me in half guard. This makes the necessary legwork much more difficult, since you have to free the leg before rolling to the triangle.
That depends on when during this transition he frees it as well as what he does with it. You always have an option- you just have to know which option to exercise.
umm at 1:49 do you think it would be easier to wrap your left leg around his head and triangle from there instead of rolling to your back? and just stay in the dominant position.
Looks cool! I will try this, but I think I would like to end up in a mounted triangle (if possible) instead of giving up position. I will try using this and when you lift up the head, step your leg all the way thru and then swing the other leg over to finish a mounted triangle. Probably not as easy to get, but you are already risking losing position if the person has good triangle defense. What do you think?

@damng Not necessarily Jeff Glover catches black belts in D'arce chokes all the time.

@damng if the darce is the only move you go for then obviously its going to make it more difficult to get.

Completely different setup all together. We cover that one in our Darce series in our store in great detail.

@compunerd22 maybe transfer into a japanese neck tie from half guard

you know, i always find your videos great and help me understand how to do the techniques. great transition from side mount to a triangle!!
Mikelangelo267 2 years ago
is there a way to go into a triangle choke from a side mount? because that seems a lot more useful
darkermage69 2 years ago
There are a few setups for it. There are some in our videos section at our site. Check it out.

what do u do if he frees the bottom arm,
when u go for the triangle?wut do u suggest..do u keep trying for the tri,?

Hmm... Thanks for the heads up. I've tested it on my three laptops and it seems to be working. Not sure what to tell you. Thanks for watching though!
