@iheartdropdeadblah I say play the first 3 before this one. However, be ready for a hell of a time. It's fun, but very hard. But it's worth it to get more familiar with the characters (and possibly used to the stealth gameplay). It enhances the experience of the 4th game immensely.

in hindsight I have to say MGS4 was pretty shit. It's the only game in the series I was disappointed in. After MGS3, I was expecting an epic, longer journey through larger areas...but it was so linear at times that on play 2 I could sneak through the whole game in an afternoon. The story wasn't that good either (Kojima seems to like changing the past to fit the present). It just wasn't that good...it was playable, but not amazing. MGO saved this game for me.

I only recently got a Ps3, one of the first games I wanted was Metal Gear 4 as I have never been let down by a Metal Gear game, I just beat it today, I must admit, it surpassed my expectations!
