Beautiful. I want to see more videos of pets being rescued. There are so many showing them getting out of the mills, but never enough of the dogs AFTER the mills and the ones that were saved.
They buy the puppies and resell them. If you look at this shelter's tax form (990) on guidestarorg, you will see the Pres. Stevenson makes over $350k per year and there are 6 others making between $150 and $200K salaries. Annual revenues are abt $30 million, with bt $8 mil to pet care and $9 mil to reduced vet services. So do not feel bad getting your pets elsewhere.
I'm always glad about adoptions. I wonder how many of these owners still have their pets. NSAL needs adult dogs to be adopted. The puppies cover costs (from $150 to $250 each). Last Sunday 70 animals were adopted. On Saturday - just that day - 7 were returned. If you say the right things, live in a house, have anyone for 2 references, you can walk home with a dog the same day. That is great for people who are ready. If you are new to shelters, as I was, this is a disaster. For the animals.
I don't get it, there's a huge overpopulation crisis, millions of unwanted dogs end up euthanised or waste away in shelters every year, what's to stop these people adopting a dog before this particular lot of animals came to this particular shelter?
I mean, still props to them for having the heart to let a rescue dog into their lives but...yeah.
Suddenly when a load 'purebreds' come along with high media coverage there's so much interest.
my sis and i were # 7 on line she got the love of her life "darla" her name was lollipop she is the sweetest thing ever and 2 ebolaoukast we have been lookin for a puppy in shelters 4 months but none of them fit our life styles many r aggressive it would be much worse if we adopted 1 nd then had to give it back ppl should line up at shelters but i think your wrong when u say they only showed up becuz of the news ur needed to be approved by the shelter b4 u cud even think of taking a puppy home
I have mixed feelings...I'm grateful these people are adopting but what prevented them from doing so before? Dogs never stop needing homes...and people only show up when their's a story on the news...or more likely, because they're purebreds. There needs to be 'lines' in other shelters.
A lot of the time people aren't aware of where to adopt from a respectable shelter. Not to mention a lot of people's apartments do not allow large dogs. Let's face it. There aren't as many small dogs in shelters. At least on that day they had a bit of a choice of small dogs to adopt.
I personally prefer dogs athat are around 50 pounds but I have a small white mutt who's pretty awesome.
This warms my heart & brings tears to my eyes! I wish I could adopt all of them! If I ever win the lottery & someone asks me what I'm gonna do with the money, the first thing out of my mouth will be "take care of homeless/unwanted animals" & then I'll say "praise Jesus"!
I got my cute doggy there but not that day

I think those videos are really important too.
