  • I was going to make an amazing science joke... but the best ones argon.

  • I HATE SCHOOL...

  • so its what obi wan used....

  • I love that shade of blue...

  • I am going to study Chemistry when I grow up...and I hope it is at this freaking place that I do so...under the Professor and others...

  • Blue argon = argon + mercury, pure argon gas makes a mostly purple band

  • @EgadsNo

    This. But whatever.

  • Why is only argon gas used in mig welding and not, say neon, etc..??

  • @shortlinebryan Because argon is cheapest noble gas. Argon costs around 3 dollars per cubic meter, while neon costs sixty dollars per cubic meter. The most expensive noble gas by far is xenon, at a whopping FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS per cubic meter.

  • in my class, we are doing elements and reports on them. my friend was assigned argon, which sparked a chain of events leading to the de-WAIT WAT

  • all the jokes about the periodic table Argon

  • So Neon gives off a red light and argon gives off a blue light, how can one produce other colors like green or purple?

  • @efrem1

    Phosphors.

  • @efrem1 purple is Xenon, but i'm not sure about green

  • @XionZacor err... i was about to say radon but i don't think so cuz of the radioactivity...

  • @XionZacor Krypton gas is also combined with other gases to make luminous signs that glow with a bright greenish-yellow light. - Wikipedia

  • @efrem1 They make different colors by using colored tubing with mercury vapor inside.

  • Argon is produced by natural radioactivity as helium?

  • When you don't have any more of them, they Argon.

  • argon molecules?

  • This is a argon gas, in a discharge tube, produces a greenish blue light when irradiated by a discharge of electrons (current). The red light is neon.

  • Yeah, thanks, I was really just questioning the use of the word molecules, since argon gas exists as atoms; not molecules.

  • This gas, like all inert gases are monatomic, meaning that their molecules consist of a single atom, are simple elements.

    Greetings :-)

  • Argon, one of the noble gases. They are call noble because such as nobles and aristocrats, they don't mix with others. How true.

  • No wonder why it took a lot of time to make a first true argon compound - argon fluorohydride (HArF) - in the year 2000.

  • is argon toxic?

  • not to living beings here on earth. the atmosphere got more argon in it then carbon dioxide so i think it's pretty safe. of course if you inhale it you get dizzy from lack of oxygen and can faint or stop breathing

  • Yes it made me dizzy because I did an experiment on the noble gasses by inflating balloons with them and inhaling them for a small amount of time. Helium made me high, as well as my voice (^_^), argon was somehow heavy, krypton was really heavy, xenon made my voice really deep and it feels like I couldn't breathe for awhile..so yeah..

  • sharinganx12, that sounds quite interesting, however i thought xenon is a general anesthetic. I wander how it does that?

  • I don't know we did an experiment at school (they have the noble gas canisters there so yeah lol..) except for neon and radon of course

  • wow, dude thats cool, i 'd like to see more experiments on youtube.. rather than.. shit like fred.. lol

  • lol Fred I wonder why everyone hates him anyways...

  • he's a kid

    his videos are dumb

and there is no entertainment factor.

there is much better on youtube to find

  • Yeah but how did he get on iCarly...

  • he's popular with kids?

  • ahh ok lol

  • Well lighter gasses tend to fall on top of heavier gasses (for example helium above argon above air). Go figure, maybe we would find helium in trace amounts in the upper level of our atmoshphere...

  • It also happens to be very reactive, as mentioned in the video, which is just like people who have nothing better to do with their time... to over react.

  • @Anamonopeia Nice grammar.

  • Huzzah!

People don't say "huzzah" nearly often enough. :)

  • sounds like everyone is high on Argon

  • Argon is the gas used inside of a Geiger-Mueller Tube (G-M Tube).

  • I freaggin Love the prof's HAIR!

  • @sukarno lol hes an einstein try-hard :P (jokes dont troll)

  • I once knew a guy called "Argon" (he changed his name). He told me that the original greek meaning of the word "Argon" meant "pure" in the uncontaminated sense. A good way to remember the characteristics of this groovy element.

  • Huh???

  • Superb series of videos. Many thanks for posting

  • 1% of the world's atmosphere - wow!

  • I just want to pat his hair. Its just so puffy. lol. And yay for Noble gases!
