Yes, it is correct what has been said here about Frank's thoughts on being remembered, and he wouldn't have asked for any of this...BUT... I think it's a good thing for those of us who respected him, and for others to understand who he really was, and why it's important...PLUS his music of course!
Frank lampooned politicians for going around with the express purpose of naming shit after one another in an attempt to immortalized themselves. Toward the end of his life he did say in an interview that "It's not important to be remembered." While I doubt Frank was so full of himself to want a statue of his own or a street named after him, it appeared to me in watching that interview that those words were coming from a man that was truly angry and disappointed that he was dying.
A statue??? LOL! Frank must be spinning in his grave. One can only imagine the satirical song he would write if he saw this. Toward the end of his life, when asked "How do you want to be remembered?" He said, point blank, "I don't want to be remembered." Frank wasn't about "remembrance". He was about "now". His music speaks more eloquently than any statues or remembrance ceremonies could ever hope to.

I really wanted to go to Baltimore for this event. Looks like it was a fun day.
I've been to the other FZ statue in Lithuania. I wonder where they will put the third one they made.
