  • Check out My new cougar hunting video

  • pity i couldne hear the hounds baying .

  • nice video! I like the looks of that young walker ya got there. Ive bear hunted my whole life on the west coast now in Idaho and love it. nice to see people still doing it!

  • Great vid and nice looking dogs.

Are wolves an issue for you up there?

  • you have some good looking walker bitches bro..keep up the good work

  • Good I wish the sound wasn't cut from this video. It wou;d be great to hear their Howl.

  • for idiots who know nothing about hunting or wildlife conservation. hunting with dogs allows the hunter or biologist the chance to tree an animal with out killing it. and if you are looking to take a bear you can have the chance of not shooting a female or young bear and takeing only the animal you want. with out dogs most people shoot the first legal game they get a chance at. so instead of calling names and saying hound hunters are bad people they should go with a houndsman with a camera.

  • what kind of dogs are theys

  • murderers and fags, good dogs

  • @bobiswg youre retarted!!

  • I'm all for hunting but hunting with dogs in fucking gay, real tough to shoot it from a tree! Anyone who has "coon dogs" is a fucking redneck anyways

  • @waterbra1 actually I have a Coonhound and I am not a redneck, I am a vegan now but raised in a hunting family that killed each animal in a way more humane way than any slaughter house.

  • @waterbra1 your a douche bag...you no nothing about hunting..and prolly just sit there on your computer and jack off..dnt talk shit uless you know what the fuck you talking about

  • yep remember people its hard to get a bear permit and they provide alot of meat for people. bear populations need to be kept in check like all animals or else they will just be hit by cars and eat all the other animals food. thats a happy dog you got there, he is looking forward to a big dinner.

  • FUCKIN ASSHOLES NERDS GO TO GET LAID AND LEAVE THE ANIMALS ALONE!KILLERS!!

  • Nice walkers! I just got a 3 mo old pup for coon hunting. He's a good boy. Starting training when the scent comes in. We've been haveing a lot of over population of raccoon here (same everywere) and the kids wanted a dawg, so worked out good. Nice bears you got too! That's cool you actuly eat the bears. I would like to hunt them just to sell the fur and to help keep the population under control.

  • all these lil bitches complaining about us killing shit can go home a fuck themselves because they dont know any fucking thing about country life so eat shit u fucking niggas

  • @atlkinkyboi the kind of people that would have put Micheal Vick in jail are not the kind of people you see in this video or anyone that hunts for that matter. The kind of people that were mad at Vick and wanted him in jail are liberals. Guess who's a liberal. Your boy Obama and a majority of blacks and hispanics are liberals.

  • @andrewjpx Obama never put nobody in jail yet like he was suppose to, like the AIG guys. I don't even know why people worrie about Obama and thier rights. He hasn't done anything except spend money and go on vacation. He will definatly go down as one laziest presidents in my book. I wouldn't go so far to say that most blacks, ect are liberal, democrat, yes. Most the liberals are white San Fran kind of people.

  • Yet stupid ass white people cry over Michael Vick. I hate u fuckers. You are the biggest hypocrites on earth

  • I can understand the meat eating part of the killing (while I respectfully disagree with kiiling a bear) but to state that you eat meat of an animal falling from 30+ feet is ridiculous. Bruised flesh is terrible, internal organs will infest the rest of the body, and the adrenaline flowing for minutes before the kill makes this animal unsuitable for consumption... making this one a useless kill!

  • @topes1994 How many black bears do you want running around. Don't forget man is part of the ecco system. I believe the MOST important part.

  • You fellas sure have some hate directed your way. I wonder if these folks know that 99 percent of their ancestors survived like this. Factory farms are far more barbaric, IMHO.

  • Tell me how can ya kill a defenceless animal. I live in Prince George. Taken a moose the last 34 years. But to shoot a treed animal.Your fucked up.I bet ya beat your wife and kids too. You and me lets find out. My sister lives in Victoria. Anytime ya fuckin coward.

  • @IMA60SKID u a really stupid piece of shit shut the fuck up and stop cryin like a little bitch now go home and fuck ur mom u little bitch

  • @IMA60SKID u a really stupid piece of shit shut the fuck up and stop cryin like a little bitch now go home and fuck ur mom u little bitch

  • assholes

  • Looks pretty cool. Im a hog hunter, but thinking bout getting a hound or 2 and having @ some coons, cats or a bear

  • Most bear hunters have a completely separate rig for hunting... Usually one that they dont give 2 shits about and can barrel thru the woods without worrying that its scratching the paint or cracking the windshield. Whos gonna squeeze their daily driver down an old tight logging road with trees, pot holes and rocks? I know some but not many...

  • fight the bear with a knife or so, just dont be a pussy and fight him with equal weapons.....

  • I would get off on shooting your dogs.

  • @IMA60SKID your parents should have culled you at birth

  • @garho1 the best part of you ran down your mommies leg after the man who payed here got done moron

  • @IMA60SKID your a fucking loser shut your pussy ass mouth waste of time prick

  • @pskor Ok prickster. Then you wont have any problem when I find you and shot your dogs the same way, Then you might understand how people feel about lions. You need to be treated the same way. No mercy for you ya cunt.

  • @IMA60SKID ok thank you no dog though sorry

  • i am trying to make up my mind about hunting. an i dont raly see the point in killing animal you cant eat. all you can is have a carcass in your ??

  • how does bear taste like? I've been to Vancouver Island a couple of years ago.. also doing some hunting and fishing, but we didn't hunt for bear, so I don't know how it tastes..

  • Cracks in your windshield like that where I live will get you a ticket. It's an 'obstruction of view' and fineable. ARGH!

  • Also I've already read some of the comments but it seems like some idiots out there think you need meat to survive.

Now, I eat meat quite a lot, but that's a total lie. If you would actually do some research you would find that vegetarians tend to have LONGER life spans than meat eaters. Seems like some of these comments would like you to believe that you'll be caughing within weeks without a burger.

  • @LaymanX no your wrong. Red meat is a major source of protein, which is needed for muscle and organ health. The protein found in meat is "complete", meaning that it contains all the amino acids that the body cannot make on its own. It is essential for the body's repair and renewal as well as general health.Red meat is one of the best sources for these vitamins, which are found only in animal foods, and which help to maintain nerve cells and normal blood formatio.

  • @LaymanX i mean b vitamins.

  • Oh, come on. Bears are cool, live em alone. Chickens are stupid, kill them instead.

  • First off most bear hunters don't even kill a quarter of the bears they catch cause of course we don't want to burn our tag the first week of the season. I haven't killed a bear in probably about 3 seasons and have caught over 100 bears in those 3 seasons. It's more about training your younger hounds and keeping em wanting to hunt more than killing the bear. All you fags that are like omg there hunting harmless bears. Stfu cause you've never been and don't know what the fuck your talking about.

  • Good lookin walkers man

  • I really dont understand why people that doesnt like hunting, comment on hunting videos.

    MOTHER FUCKERS GET A LIFE!!!!!

  • i hape a big grizzly killin you and you fucking friends!!!

    gay asshole, faggot

  • @ernandex Why you search "bear hunting". DUMBASS.

  • lol owned

  • Hunting is legal, and seems like a perfectly "green" way to get meat. I mean if you believe in "Climate Change because of CO2," then aren't those bears just crapping in the woods and adding methane to "Mother Earth?" Seems to me these guys are just helping "Mother Earth" keep the bears from destroying her.

Plus, you gotta eat, so why not eat something you shot in the backyard.

Personally, I shoot two to three deer every year to keep them from eating trees and creating methane. :)

  • YouTube doesn't like hounds but I'm sure they sound good.

  • haha pussy ass jumped when the gun whent off!!! lol

  • We should hunt libs instead

  • Probably a bad idea: There are more of us, we are better educated (and therefore better at approaching complex situations, like guerrilla warfare), and oh yeah, we fuck better than you do. Ask your girl.

  • Nice hounds good shot

  • fucking white trash rednecks

  • Actually, WE DO EAT BEAR... get an education before you try to trash someones way of life

  • damn good video anyone who doesnt think so your foolish yea thats right we have stores with meat in them but i dont know if some low life like you handled it so im not gonna eat it. im not gonna take the chance either. Until then i will shoot many ducks turkeys bears, deer, and alot of other tastey little critters that fit on my grill =) so god bless, happy hunting and shoot straight

  • Right peckerwood... you hunt because you are worried about the hygiene of store bought meat... THAT is why you go hunt. Bullshit. What redneck taught you that argument? Just come out and say it: you like killing animals because it makes you feel accomplished despite your mediocre performance in life. Only when and until the trade and commerce of our great nation breaks down completely, you have NO justification to go hunt.

  • If youre gonna grill it, you got to kill it

If killing upsets you that much, talk to Colonel Sanders or a chicken Farmer

Or a Cattle or hog farmer

They kill by the tens of millions

Some of us like our sport, our tradition, and meat from Gods wilderness, which we were given Dominion over.

Now go back to starbucks and order a double latte for me.

  • yea we have stores but guess how the animals get there they put them in a tiny stall and chop there head off...then they put it in a package and tell you that hunting is bad....isnt that nice....wat we do is way better than that at least the animal has a chance wen we hunt it

  • @beagler45 and freedome while its still alive

  • your retarted, you have no idea about managing populations do u? and your probably some little flaky vegan who thinks meat is murder, these store sell meat too, go bitch at them

  • Great looking dogs.

  • nice to see hound getting his reward

  • coward. He, the bear was trapped and you executed him. Poor you, Poor us. One day One bear One dead. You.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice DOGS!!

  • what if you dont have experinced dogs whats the other best way

  • can you give me complete instorcians on traing a coonhound to hunt bears

  • best way is to get the dog out there and run it with experienced dogs. you can also lay a track of bear scent for the dog to follow

  • them taters went down fine didny they.

  • I don't hunt, and surely don't need drugs. I prefer shooting pictures. Having read back through all the posts here, I can appreciate that the hounds are for tracking, and if it is done respectfully to where the prey is not allowed to suffer, and you are hunting as responsibly as you know how, I can honor that. This video vs the pitbull mentality posted earlier, I'd rather see hunters such as these in the video.

  • Sorry, cannot understand the neanderthal mentality of killing an animal and considering it sport. The animal never has a chance and you actually think there was anything you did of worth?

  • the number one reason is to prevent over population. most people do it for food, and the rush. you dont need drugs when you can hunt!!

  • lol yea tell me then mr.hunter how comes the overpopulation of certain species didnt happen in the past huh?

its bullshit excuse, nature itself controls the population of the animals

but you huntards want all the game for youselves so you want to keep the population of predators in check

the only animal that should be kept from overpopulating is YOU

  • you had to have gone to college to come up with an answer like that you ignorant fuck. was there 300 million people living in the united states in that past? no you fucking moron. hunting helps the species you are hunting. at one point there was about the same number of american wild turkeys as there was bald eagles (less than 500 each) now there are only about 10 thousand bald eagles (because the gov't managed them) and millions of turkeys (because hunters managed them. go fuck yourself!

  • lol fucking asshole

sorry i didnt study zoology in the college, and neither did you

its like that: without human intervention the populations are ok, when hunters hunt deers and other plant-eaters then there is not enough for the hunters and the predators

so dickshit bitches like you come and start spewing shit like: zomfg we needs 2 killzor the fuckeh bearz coz there fckin makin teh herbivores go extinct

    lol go fuck yourself asshole

your still young ... and stupid lol

    get lost now

  • and how the fuck would you know if populations are ok without hunting you fucking idiot. native american hunted them even before people from europe and settled. you are one dumb mother fucker. you obviously know nothing about hunting. its better for you to not talk and let everyone assume your stupid rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  • how do i know?????

coz they've been ok for thousands of years

Lol dont even compare the indian hunters to the number of hunters today in america.

    lol go hang yourself retard

i know more about hunting than you'll ever learn

oh and hunting doesnt automatically make you know everything about the populations asshole

  • lmao refer to my last comment retard. have someone explain it to you. you obviously didnt comprehend it and you obviously know nothing about hunting still. oh and go fist yourself.

  • Have they really been ok for thousands of years?? mother natures way of keeping poulations in check is disease and starvation, there gets to be so many animals the land cannot support them anymore and they die a slow and painful death. Isnt it better we responsible hunters keep overpoulation in check by humanely harvesting animals?? BTW black bears eat mostly berry, nut, and other vegetation. They eat fish and occasionally a carcass if they are really hungry. Educate yourself...

  • sad that you guys are argueing... spammin up this guys email.. like seriously get a life and ask for eachothers adresses so you can piss on eachother

And dont watch hunting videos just to be a dipshit and dis on them.

  • yo dont tell me to get a life ok?

how do you know that i dont have a life already??? you dont, so dont judge ok?

better look at your own life and see what you can improve, instead of telling me what to do, and anyway your still a kid, im an adult, so i dont think i should be listening to you

oh and nice nickname, rly suits you

YT is a place of free speech(well used to be awhile ago) so i can and WILL express my opinion on those matters

  • what those hunters dont understand is that basically there is way too many hunters in the US(around 10-30 mln people)

there is not enough game for the predators at the current level and the hunters

so they take the easy approach- kill the predators so they can have all the killing for themselves

and as i said, the nature can cope with any population of plant eaters and predators, so animal overpopulation is just a myth spewed by the hunters

it doesnt take much effort to research it

  • That all went out the window when HUMANS decided to populate damn near every inch of this planet. So, without displacing humans, yes, wildlife populations do need to be controlled. Hunting is far more humane than what nature has in store. Ever see a starving animal?? Its a LONG and PAINFUL death and I dont wish that on any creature. Not to mention it puts food on my table.

  • As far as numbers go... 10 to 30 million hunters compared to the over 300 million people who live in the US, and the total US deer population is tiny... Factor in that bear hunters only make up MAYBE 2 or 3% of the total hunters in the US... Its laughable how people target the "oh so many" hunters. MOST of whom just want to put food on the table and only kill enough to feed themselves or their families.

  • Overpopulation DID occur in the past... NATURE took care of it with DISEASE AND STARVATION, but nature has been modified by the hands of humans(ie cities, farmland, etc) Nature is naturally harsh, few wild animal deaths are as humane as those at the hands of humans. When humans cull animals there are governed methods and regulations to ensure that the harvested animal is taken as selectively and humanely as possible. Only we humans express compassion towards prey - certainly Nature does not.

  • Bears first season without mom by the looks of it.

  • Nice vid.....what kind of camera did you use to shoot the video???

  • I agree the bear wasn't quite what i see as a shooter but i guess in different parts you hold different standards. Also whats up with the guy with the long gun. Needs a Marlin guide gun. Nice mouth on the big pup. I love this sport. I firmly believe it is a tradition that all bear hunters need to pass on. Nice smack on em though. keep the vids coming

  • Way to shoot a bear that is not even 150 lbs. I hope it made you feel like men. I dont take a bear unless I am confident that it is well over 200 lbs. People like you give a bad name to bear hunting. Put on a shirt and shoot a bear worth killing rather than a cub. By the way your dogs are pussies. As soon as my bears hit the ground I let my dogs attack, and they do not hesitate like your pussified muts!

  • just enjoy the video and shut your mouth. its hound hunters like you thats gonna ruin it for all of us. anytime you wanna run your s**t against mine bring it. since your dogs do no hessitate i guess we'll see who's shedding tears when all of them are laying chewed up or dead by a bear. enjoy the video dont ruin it for us fellow bear hunters that actually support each other.

  • Wow, do you like the hide all torn up and meat spoiled? or how about injured or dead dogs because the bear came down still very alive?

Seems to me like YOU are one of those who gives bear hunting a bad name...

  • Haha, you have the audacity to rip on these people for taking a smaller bear when on YOUR OWN video the bear you take is the size of a cub itself... lol we got 4 bears this year, smallest was 461 lbs, 511 lbs, 597 lbs, and biggest 708 lbs. We let MANY small ones go that would have womped your bear any day. ps we also didnt loose any dogs because we train them to stay back from the tree when we shoot the bear out. That way there is no injured or killed dogs, and no vet bills. Pussys they are not

  • Nice lookin' Walkers. APBT's are used more successfully as catch dogs for boar hunting. They aren't very good at Scent hunting.

  • Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

    'Nuff said.

Now everyone who disagrees can respond crying how the Bible isn't the authority but in the end I know you're wrong so I won't have to bother replying.

  • that is a great sound

  • fucking cowboys

  • Nerds.

  • one of the best ways to spend time in the woods.. good stuff

  • Great video. Looks like you got some real hair pullers there. Our season starts in less than two weeks here in VA and I can't wait. Good luck in the future and nice bear!

  • Awesome Dogs And Very Nice Bear!!!!

  • great job, bear hunting with hounds is probably some of the most exciting hunting there is.

  • I just wanted to say that I really liked your video. My husband & I hunt in Wisc using dogs and its the greatest thing. These are hunting dogs that have been born and raised to hunt. Their barking is like music, and it really makes us so proud to see these cute puppies grow into intelligent, faithful and smart companions that they are. Thank you

  • it just seems wrong to me

  • damn good lookin pack hounds, hell of a hunt, hell of a vid!

  • hahahaha animals kill each other too there dick tree, and it says in the video title what its going to be about, so dont watch it if you dont like hunting

  • please keep hate commments to yourself...all...they....do....is....promote...conflict...

  • how bout no flyby

  • you seem to like drawing attention to yourself....why do you post comments that wont change anything...and just make people hate you?

  • why did u feel the need to reply to that? you obviously know somthing about this is wrong or you wouldnt feel such a strong need to defend it huh??

  • i dont feel anything about this is wrong,i just defend it because i feel implyed to do so..however,staying on point, people have hunted animals for thousands of years,so why stop now?

  • vgawel, your comment is degrading and uncalled for. If you can't say something that is somehow connected to the conversation then say nothing as your verbal bashing is immature and reflects more about you than anyone you post about.

  • It's a figure of speech, moron.

  • I do not lower myself to petty name calling, why do you? Just wondering, I always thought it amazing when people cannot have healthy debates, ones without verbal bashing...

  • Look at my language, and the language vgawel used whom I replied to. Seriously, you're complaining about mine?? Your focus seems to be a bit skewed.

  • i love to bear hunt its my fav sport i love to bear hunt!!

  • I saw on the news tonight on CTV that a bear swam up to a fishermans boat at the dock in Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island and started to crawl up and into his boat. Guy freaked and threw the bear a fish. Bear still came aboard and attached the man. 5 people came and gafted the bear several times with hook...did nothing then someone came on board and took knife to bears throat and he died in boat. The man is now in hospital recovering with gashes to arms and shoulder. I am also from Van Island.

  • So? Are you saying that justifys killing bears? Thousands of humans are killed by other humans every year. About 100,000% more than by bears. Does that lead us to the absurd conclusion that we should hunt humans? I don't get your point.

  • What does killing people have anything to do with this subject? When we start to see overpopulation in animals we will see more human/animal encounters, this may be bears getting into garbages or houses, hit by cars, climbing power poles, or the rare human injury or death (ever been in the woods near a sow with cubs?) deer overpopulation leads to tremendous crop loss to farmers, which leads to higher prices for groceries, etc... not to mention car/deer accidents, Is this not reason enough?

  • God forbid we should ever have to pay a little more for our groceries.

There you go again with those tired old "animal overpopulation" excuses. What about human overpopulation? Why doesn't anyone ever talk about that? It's all those humans moving ever-further out into the wild that have those encounters. If we could keep our population growth at zero (two children per coulple) we would no longer have to continue to destroy habitats and force wildlife to forage in our garbage.

  • Completely agreed with above statement...

You clearly called me a moron... Quote from Journeyman47 "its a figure of speech, moron".. completely uncalled for and immature...

I dont know where you are from, But I am in Wisconsin, and here as well as MN and MI deer overpopulation is a BIG issue. there can be some major crop damage done and why should we have to pay more for groceries? I pay enough as it is, as well as feed my cattle and horses... its ubsurd

  • No, I called vgawel a moron, not you, as I said before... the one who used the f-word to me. I even replied to that person, not you. I don't know how you could have misunderstood that whole exchange.

I'm from Virginia but lived two years on the border of W. VA surrounded by woods. I would have loved to have seen a bear but they're being killed almost as fast as they reproduce, so I never saw one.

Anyway I can see that we're never going to agree on this, so let's just call it a night.

  • If you raise cattle, don't they eat in pastures? Do you feed them extra in winter? If so, isn't that hay? If so, do deer really cause that much of a problem eating grasses? Or is it corn you mean? If so, why are you feeding your cattle corn? That doesn't sound very natural. I admit I don't know much about raising cattle, but here's a thought: if you raised plants instead of animals, your feeding problem wouldn't exist.

  • I feed hay as well as grains and silage for a balanced diet for them (TMR) I am not really talking about grasses as deer really dont prefer "straight grass" as much as the alfalfa, corn, and soy beans, and of course my garden plants (the ones I grow to feed myself and family). It is not just about the animal feeding problem, do people not eat corn too? soy products? beef? poultry? vegetables? apples? It is a huge expense for farmers to be paying for the seed to grow crops to feed local deer.

  • yes my cattle go to pasture, but they also get fed a supplemental diet according to the land (what vit and minerals are missing in the soil) additional protein as well as calcium supplements. My horses eat (pasture) hay as well as corn, oats, wheat, soy beans, barley, etc mixed into a ration of grain with extra vitamins and minerals, which is what they need to get a balanced diet. My chickens free range and get a cracked corn and grain as well.

  • Gee.. With your population plan It sounds like maybe you should move to China :)

  • hourneyman47, I have been away, I was not trying to make any point, just a comment that a bear attacked a man who was minding his own business and in this case it took 5 unarmed men to kill a bear to save an innocent person. Are you so against killing of animals that you think this bear should have been spared? Had this been your family member would you sit on the sidelines and let your own loved one die while cleaning his fish that he caught earlier that day?

  • No, I just wasn't sure what your comment was referring to.

  • I live near where the fellows in this vid live on Vancouver Island and that bear that attacked the boater was not far north from them. Still on the mainland, Vancouver City and outskirts bears are coming into peoples yards, some are taken into the woods, others have been put down because they are nasty. Why are bears so frequently coming into the main population, and why are they not eating their food from their natural habitat?

  • Good lookin' pack of Walkers you got there. Keep on hound huntin & pay no attention to some of these jackasses that say otherwise.

  • I don't get it. How can you shoot your brothers of the forest after trapping them helplessly up a tree with dogs? Have you no compassion at all? How could you possibly get pleasure out of murdering your fellow mammals? Can't you find something better to do? (Here come all the excuses- there's too many, they're "killers", they'll eat your children, yaddah yaddah.) Spare me your lame old excuses and just leave the bears alone, would you?

  • journeyman47, maybe it is as simple as they like eating meat. I know people that hunt deer, bear, moose, and fish etc to eat. Some natives eat seal and hunt whale or other animals to make clothing, moccasins etc. Are you a vegatarian? Pleasure??? I am sure they do not get pleasure to kill but some people love wild game meat. I know people that eat buffalo. You saying you don't eat bacon with your eggs or steak and lobster?

  • cougarlady~ Possibly they eat the meat. I don't know how many bear hunters do that, but it still pains me to watch them be shot and fall out of trees. It just seems so barbaric. And if they don't eat them, and are simply shooting them for trophys/"sport", it's just downright wrong.

And no, I don't eat bacon, steak or lobster. You are correct, I am a vegetarian after realizing that our fellow animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on or use for entertainment. Thanks for the reply.

  • then what are the animals good for... so they can die rot, and go to waste...

i can't believe how many dumb ignorant people there are trying to control things in this world.

  • Um, speaking of dumb/ignorant.... why do our fellow animals have to be "good for"? Why can't they just be? Imagine a world without them; isn't it pretty great that they're around at all? They certainly aren't all here simply for humans to shoot. Talk about people trying to "control things in this world". I'm not trying to control anything, I just want people to leave them alone. It sounds like you're the one who wants to control/kill them.

  • control the animals. ha.. spending time in the outdoors with friends and family and putting your own food on the table is one of the most rewarding things you can do. That is why there are bag limits, you can only harvest a certain amount of game per season. So before you try to ruin the american tradition get you animal compassion zone out of here. Respect for nature is needed, but we dont need you dumbasses. Why dont you listen to sarah palin, she thinks clearer than you.

  • Sarah Palin wants to be able to kill polar bears just for a few extra bucks for Alaska. She's already made it legal again to shoot wolves from airplanes-- in my mind the most despicable and cowardly "hunting" of all.

  • We eat the bear, not just to "hang on the wall." And hunting is not only a way to feed yourself and family, and get into the outdoors and enjoy your surroundings, but also a logical and effective way to control overpopulation of any wild animal... if not for hunters culling these animals would the farms, prairies, and woods be able to sustain such numbers? Take deer for example.. I completely agree with CSC, putting your own food on the table is the most rewarding and valuable thing you can do.

  • *sigh* I'm so sick of hearing that lame old hunter's excuse that their killing is "needed to control overpopulation".... before humans came along, no hunting was necessary, Mother Nature did just fine, thank you. Why? Because there were predators around. If humans hadn't killed off (and keep killing) wolves, cougars and coyotes, the populations would be just fine.

So spare me your excuses. You don't HAVE to eat meat; I haven't eaten any in a year and I've never felt better.

  • Truth is that humans DO HAVE TO eat meat... Humans are true omnivores, without proper nutrition (especially from some key B vitamins meat contains and no vegetable carries) your brain cannot develop or function properly. Naturally we all should be eating at least some meat as well as vegetables of course, but one without the other is pointless, and honestly I believe it is child abuse when I see Vegan parents making their children be vegan. They are not getting the proper nutrition.

  • Also, before humans came along there would be mass starvation in the animal populus if there was not enough food. Which is more humane? dying the slow painful death of starvation or going somewhat quickly (hunted and shot humanely with a bow and arrow or gun? Say what you want, but that is why the DNR has seasons for game animals and bag limits on them, to control overpopulation.

  • Hmmm. I'm afraid you've been brainwashed by the meat industry, a powerful lobby with deep pockets and subtle advertising saturating America. Actually there are millions of people who eat no meat or other animal products, for years, and do just fine (including me).

Eating meat is the main cause of dozens of diseases including the two biggest killers, cancer and heart disease. If you ask me, feeding your kids animal flesh is closer to child abuse than NOT feeding them. Do some more research.

  • I am not the one who has been brainwashed here obviously, Nutrition is my major, what is yours? PETA and other select groups have been lying to people about meat and hunting for years, Yes, eating too much can be bad for you, drinking too much water can be bad for you too, should we not do that as well? You do what you want and I will do what I want. I am not going around trying to tell people how to live their life, and what to do and not to do.

  • vitamin B12, which used to be thought to be available only in meat, is actually a microbe and does not naturally occur in meat either! It is the cobalt that we need, and is easily obtained with a supplement.

Also, B12 has been found in yeast, seaweed and soy products. It has also been found that B12 absorbtion from meat is much poorer than previously thought, so even people who eat meat can be B12 deficient. I can't post websites here but google "vitamins not in vegetables" for more info.

  • meat is the most naturally occurring, well balanced and easily obtained and digested package of proteins, essential acids and source of iron and vitamin B12 that you can find. Which is why vegetarians need to take vitamin supplements, because their diet is not "complete" Of course you can go without eating meat, is it natural? no. are the vitamins needed to replace meet derived protiens and amino acids natural? no not many are, in fact most are synthetially made in a lab and are harder to digest

  • Did you know that all the other great apes except us are vegetarian? They share over 95% of our DNA (chimps about 98.7%), and all have larger canines than we do. Yet people ignore them when they claim our species "needs meat".

And meat is not that "easily obtained", when you consider all the pollution, land waste, deforestation, animal misery and slaughter, soil degredation, wasted water, antibiotic overuse, zoonoses, meat-processing injuries, and wasted energy. It's pretty expensive.

  • I have no problem getting home grown organic(or wild) meat, any animal I slaughter DOES NOT suffer, In fact up until the moment it dies it lives the good life, and it is ended in a very quick and humane way... All of the people I bear hunt with eat the bear, I actually dont know anyone who doesnt. Most of the apes and chimps eat various bugs as well as vegetation, so they are getting their animal derived protiens and amino acids from them, do you suggest us humans try to be more like apes?

  • Actually that's not a bad idea. Gorillas, bonobos and orang-utans live peacefully, hurting no one and nothing, eating no animals... a lesson we could all learn from. Chimpanzees do occasionally go to war against neighboring tribes, a disturbing behavior that we can only surmise is where our war-like penchants came from. But for the vast majority of the time they, too, live in peace.

Not that we need to eat insects (yuk!); we can get our nutritive needs elsewhere, like from soy and yeasts.

  • But there again, soy DOES NOT contain the right proteins and amino acids that our bodies (nervous system to be specific) need. Insects would, as they are protein packed little buggers but I do not want to eat insects.

I will do what I want to do, you can do what you want to. Do you really think I care if you or anyone is a vegetarian? No, I care about people trying to tell me how to live and survive. Look at many of the indians and inuits, they do not have a growing season, they eat only meat.

  • Do you care about pollution, global warming, loss of wilderness, zoonoses, higher insurance rates, energy, oil and water waste, soil erosion, disease, massive animal misery? Because meat eaters cause all that. Do you know anyone who has cancer, heart disease, diabetes, gout, high cholesterol/blood pressure, rheumatism, kidney stones, obesity or food poisoning? Will you care when you or a family member gets one of those? All caused by eating meat. If not for the animals, care for the planet.

  • Do you own a house? drive a car? create waste? then YOU TOO are a part of the never ending problem of pollution, global warming, loss of wilderness, and "animal misery". There are MANY things OTHER than meat eating that causes cancer and pollution, and it sounds like you've been reading more peta propaganda. The human population is to blame here, not "what people eat" lol Loss of wilderness because of our need to spread and reproduce, building new houses, driving vehicles period

  • Nope, don't own a house, I drivd a hybrid, the best gas-saver I could find. I would drive an all-electric if GM hadn't mysteriously halted their production of them, probably because of pressure from their oil buddies.

  • I drive a truck, not because of its great gas mileage (it doesnt) but because I have a need for it with my horses, a car just cant do what a truck can do.

  • Do you even know what zoonoses are and what it has to do with this subject? There are zoonotic diseases I can get from my dogs, cats, horses, and lizards when they are alive, do you have pets? I know people who have died of heart disease or lung cancer not from eating meat, from being an alcoholic, a smoker, and a genetic blood abnormaility (cancerous) from their mother taking fertility drugs back in the 60's and 70's. I would seriously love to see your sources...

  • Sure, there are other causes of death and disease, including from the big drug companies, big tobbaco, and alcohol.

(For those who don't know, zoonoses are diseases that humans can get from nonhuman animals). Many zoonoses come from farm animals as well, as I'm sure someone of you vast knowledge is aware of. Bovine spongioform encephalitis (mad cow) comes to mind. E. coli. Brucellosis and anthrax. Campylobacter and crypto. Avian flu. Rabies. Ever hear of Q fever? Ringworm? The list goes on...

  • yes, and again, I ask what this has to do with origional subject?

  • Higher insurance rates because of car/deer accidents? soil erosion from farming, farmers grow plants to feed everyone, your soy products are eroding the soil and displacing animals that could be using that land, your house could have displaced a small marsh or wetland if you live in a development or townhome, your car is polluting. Did you know that over exposure to pine sap can cause cancer? I know 90+ year olds who have eaten red meat their whole life every meal and they are healthy as can be
