@jeremyx2k1 I will add gates should be used when recording drums with or without a rack, but toms can be allowed a much more natural and longer release/decay/hold time, and the kick will have a much more clean sound, by using a rack. I would think a rack would have been used for this sort of venue. Cleaner mix and longer decay can be more easily achieved with a rack. Have you tried it before?

It's a little ironic that you guys are doing sound clinics and allowing such terrible audio quality for the actual video.

@boomerhawk01 On the board? Only if you're clipping with the gain all the way down.

@boomerhawk01 I find that its almost always ideal to engage the pad on the kickdrum channel.. Why? the kick drum send a powerfull signal, such that you may see that the gain knob is turned all the way down. I like the channel preamps to go to work. especially if using a good mixer with good preamps. They add something extra. Soo, engaging the pad allows the signal to be lowered before the preamp, allowing the preamp to work up the signal to 0db.

That kick drum sounded like crap, you NEVER put a blanket in it. A MUFFLE head would have been a lot better. They kick has no attach now ... it's MUFFLED with no attack... just saying...

@robdrums69 i think the sounds isn't good cus they are using the audio compression from the camera in the video. I'm sure it doesn't sound as bad in the room

@robdrums69 The kick would sound A LOT better if the toms were floating on a rack. No rack = crappy kick with toms ringing every time you kick it.
