Did you know?: This video was like the first trailer they came out with, so obviously there are differences with the characters (Dante never uses sword, Beatrice looks different, Death doesn't have wings, and Phylegus is covered in fire not gas) and events (Death doesn't take Beatrice). Plus, they only showed up to greed here :T

Also, a rip off of God of War? If you know so much about God of War, then you'll know that the guy who worked on it also worked on Dante's Inferno as well.

@Kaesoism IDK, I think its more likely that GOW (though I absolutely love it) is a rip of Dante's inferno since the plot to that was written a few hundred years ago, it sticks to the poem really well too. I have to admit the gameplay style is very similar to GOW

There was a book written in the seventies or about a man who dies at a party (champagne cork!) and ends up in Dante's version of hell. It's also called Inferno. It's by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Check that out first.

Actually, the gluttons in Dante's Inferno were not punished with being drenched in excrement, that punishment did not come until Dante and Virgil entered the city of Dis. I believe they were forced to lie in in freezing slush and ash while being pummeled by freezing rain.

It's funny, I see a lot of people being defensive about it being too much like God of War and being pissed about it. Watch some of the interview vids and you may feel differently. I am surprised that no one seems to mention that one of the main guys who worked on this also designed levels for God of War - the similarity really lies in them trying to make a kick ass game with the same epic quality that series has, and in my opinion if you compare both demos, they've done a damn good job.

God of War is classic Greek mythology. Dante's Inferno is good too, but a bit too exaggerated with the Hellacious environment. Does he only weild one gigantic blade which even seems to have a bigger metal grip than his hands? Typical Japanese ripoff with the weapon of choice. The combat is hollow, but the story seems awesome. I would still prefer God of War, since its better in every aspect and its "original" in its genre.
