The theory holds true in all circumstances- large concentration of wealth cannot coexist with representative government- and your points do nothing but back that assertion up. We have an unhealthy concentration of wealth, and as such, a government that doesn't work for us. And yes, people are distracted and dumb, but that is, I suspect, by design.

Free market - I own something you want, you have something I want, we make a trade. We both walk away with something we valued more than what we had; happy, amicably, no threats, harsh words or bloodshed. A simple, basic definition. Maybe not textbook but it gets the point across. And it happens everyday without government interference, as natural as the spring rain. As for value, like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder.
As for consolidation of wealth, do you really think the rich are all like Scrooge McDuck, hoarding their gold in some giant money bin to go swimming in? They use it to make more money by expanding their businesses, or investing in smaller businesses, or (believe it or not) giving to charity. That's where the job creation comes in. Even if they do go and buy a yacht or jet, someone has to be paid to gather the resources, refine them, transport, build it and then sell it. More jobs
But if the government goes and takes that money away through taxes, say $1,000,000 worth, that's 33 jobs that would have paid $30,000 each that will never exist. And if you take more and more of that money away, then of course the person who owns it will try to hang on to as much of it as he can, even if it means shrinking his business, laying off employees, or cutting a deal with legislators to make it harder for competition to take root.
And I'm sorry, Marx is wrong. Competition does not result in the consolidation of wealth. Very much the opposite. It drives costs down because you have to stay that much farther ahead of your opponents to keep the customer coming to you instead. Monopolies, on the other hand, don't have any such restriction and can drive up the cost as much as they want because where else are you going to go. For example, I live in Virginia, and by state law, Cable Companies cannot compete ..
with each other. They have the state cut up into regions where each company is the sole provider of their services (save for satellite services, there's some loop hole that lets them in I think.) Cox cable is allowed to charge me as much as they want for service because I can't go to Comcast who may be offering a lower price. I can pay Cox's ridiculous prices, which they tend to increase periodically, or go without, which I do, incidentally. God bless Netflix.
With competition, I would be able to keep more of my own money because the cable companies would be stumbling over each other to keep me as a customer. Their own greed and self interest would keep them in check because if they can't offer me a better deal than the other guys, they'd lose my business. But with government trying to play referee and eliminating that natural check, I'm forced to go without cable service and they lose my money. No one wins.

But if the government goes and takes that money away through taxes, say $1,000,000 worth, that's 33 jobs that would have paid $30,000 each that will never exist. And if you take more and more of that money away, then of course the person who owns it will try to hang on to as much of it as he can, even if it means shrinking his business, laying off employees, or cutting a deal with legislators to make it harder for competition to take root.

It drives costs down because you have to stay that much farther ahead of your opponents to keep the customer coming to you instead. Monopolies, on the other hand, don't have any such restriction and can drive up the cost as much as they want because where else are you going to go. With competition, I would be able to keep more of my own money because the cable companies would be stumbling over each other to keep me as a customer. Their own greed and self interest would keep them in check because if they can't offer me a better deal than the other guys, they'd lose my business. But with government trying to play referee and eliminating that natural check, I'm forced to go without cable service and they lose my money. No one wins.
