Obama "always did say" he would strike at militants and warlords on the afghna-pakistan border, In fact it was "After" Obama suggested doing so on his campaign trail that Bush actally began doing it, Bush took a page from Obama's idea book on that one.

Hopefully with Obama the strike will be more precise with less civilian causualties, I think Bush was too accepting of killing an entire family just to kill one man, Obama might put rules in to lessen calateral damage.

I have a friend teaching in Pakistan and she said that the Pakistani government cannot risk publicly endorsing U.S. anti-terrorism attacks, but privately it does. Plus I remember seeing a news story here in Canada that the U.S. was secretly given specific targets by Pakistan security forces last year.

I think what we are now seeing is the Pakistani government trying to hang onto to power in an incredibly unstable country, versus anything nefarious in the new (or old) U.S. administration.
