Naturally, maxi-minis or anemones split on their own. He isn't doing anything that the anemone wouldn't do itself, he is just helping it along. That being said, coral propagation is the only thing saving reefs from being over-harvested so to those of you who DISLIKED this, obviously is not a hobbyist. He's a reef-farmer who aqua-cultures corals, and this is how you do it for this particular species of coral.
Protip! Keep the anemones in either plastic koi baskets (like the aquatic plant pot things) or line the tank with astro turf or netting. Super easy to peel off.

he cuts them up to get more. Great video thanks man i am getting my 1st in a couple days and after a while will def prop them.
