  • Hey Jrock

I'm from germany and I'm gonna travel to Los Angeles on the 28th of march for 2 weeks

Could you please tell me where and when you are teaching? and where else i could take classes where the original styles are thought ?

  • @Jrockabmcrew - this was absolutely inspirational. I need some help - I'm all the way in the UK, so I'm not too sure where to learn these styles from. Also, how do you know when you have basics down before you start mixing it up to create your own 'style'? I notice people rarely do a single style anymore, instead mixing techniques and feelings up.

Sorry I'm quite new to this

    Peace!

  • very inspirational, learned alot watching this vid, thnx

  • @JRockABMCrew Thanks a ton for spilling your knowledge! Started a Popping club here at UCSD called Poptikz. Wanna bring Popping to UCSD. Popping and it's related styles. Its foundations. Its feel. Its culture. Appreciate it a ton. Good reminder that I'm always a student. If you are ever in SD, hit me up.

  • True word 7:19 to 7:26

  • amen brotha!!! preach that divine knowledge. thank you!

  • where do you teach j rock? it looks like california

  • That was pretty amazing. Mad love and respect!

  • Very insightful! I hope to learn from you one day when I visit LA.

  • very informative video, I'm a krump dancer and I think this applies to krumping also. I think this applies to all kind of freestyle dancing.

  • what song is that in the background?

  • Jrock, are there any new yorkers that teach popping? the actual style popping

  • @PMJustinY One of the best in the world...Jazzy J, Electric Boogaloos. He teaches twice a week in Manhattan at Perry Dance Studios. I think Sundays and Wednesdays? not sure...google the studio and call and find out. He teaches a fusion of all styles...but ask to show you straight Popping and he will! Tell him JRock sent you! lol Peace.

  • @JRockABMCrew who would you name to teach scarecrow?

  • @Browneeentertainment Myself, Walid, Sweepy, Jazzy J...Skeet left the best clips for reference.

  • @JRockABMCrew thank you brother!

imma be on the lookout ;)

  • This was a very great interview that's what i was looking for after being a little upset!

  • MY EYES ARE OPEN NOW...thank u

  • you tell the truth untill the end, USA is lost, you're one of the few that can save new cats.... Man I think it is time for you, like a FEW in this world to start to break the rules, poppin is young, I know you understand me, it's like in art, mentors told you to paint, at a certain point, when you know the core, the basics, the mechanics it's time for you to create you're own thing, and break the rules, like many genius did (picasso, van gogh...) i was thinking exactly the same way as yours.

  • most inspiring video i have seen so far ( and i seen a lot)

  • This is so true, now Ive a deeper feeling to poppin.

  • This is gold. I feel like I've seen a good handful of popping commentary (including another one you've done, JRock), but this one really approaches the subject with a humble, realistic wisdom. We are in an interestingly pivotal era in street dancing. The original styles of the OGs are just far enough away—and the predominance of YouTube videos with half-baked styles are just widespread enough — that the dancing world runs the risk of watered down styles. Remember, remember: "styles upon styles."

  • This is just simply amazing. I wish I could take an actual class from you, you have just, a great outlook on everything. I've found myself lost in popping. You explain things in such a great way that I just, need to learn.

How you explained freestyling and solo-ing is just perfect. I have never taken a class. And now I've seen what I've missed out on from trying to teach myself.

Even though I haven't taken a class, this small insight has opened my eyes and I thank you so much for that.

  • Nice one!

  • very inspirational !

  • That was badass

  • I've always looked up to you as a great dancer, but after watching this I respect you 10x more

  • j rock i hope that i also acsend to new hights with the info provide to us poppers because its our lifesytle

  • Subt...fail, but very very nice interview, so much thanks.

  • Where do you teach? I need your classes advice and guidence. Stay blessed your very talented and dedicated to your craft.

  • I'm so serious I want to learn from you. I'm very inspired but have no one to guide me through my journey. I live in philly and desperately need a tutor or even a partner to get down with. Thanks for the break down i only hope to get with you one day! Keep it up JRock

  • YES!!!

  • this video speaks to me... nice post Jrock.

  • Words of Wisdom!

  • Awesome! I'm in Nebraska and want to start learning these styles. All I have really is youtube. Do you recommend anything along the lines of the working on things on my own?

  • I've never been more inspired by anyone in my entire life! I've been so stuck when it comes to dancing! I realize now it's because haven't learned my foundations. Thanks JRock! I'm going to be a new dancer entirely because of this interview.

  • So much knowledge!!!Thanks JRock!!:)

  • thanks men!!!

  • dam dude, i wish u was in ny...........i would love for u to teach me

  • I appreciate your knowledge and understanding of dance. This video helped fill in alot of things that I feel are missing when I try to dance. I've tried to mimic you for years and now I understand I have alot more to grasp than just mimicing moves. Thanks.

  • this is excactly what cats are missing ...experience!!!! good ish' J...school em'

  • Sick Dude. Thank you so much for the knowledge and perspective.

  • i like it ,finally ......but there are also other categories to judge!!!!

  • @robozeee for sure! Every judge has their own approach....Im just explaining mine. Much respect!

  • @JRockABMCrew can you come to baltimore for a workshop i would really appreciate it

  • This is absolute GOLD

  • stokes for waves robot prince for animation boppin cant forget about them first

  • he aint lyin when he says some people really can't be on beat. it's kinda sad acutally

  • As A Dancer or just a person in life, There isn't a day when you stop learning. =) My Inspirations are LES TWINS!!!

  • Well said sir. Well said.

  • this is nice

  • I mean really? This is one of the guys who said; if you don't do boogaloo you are not a popper. He doesn't respect all styles. He will call you racist if you say; respect the origins and the culture. When OG Slick Dogg (G-Style), firstly went against these restriction of self expression within the dance. JRock was and is fighting Slick Dogg. But he have completely stolen those ideas, as if he came up with them!

JRock hates Slick Dogg, but mostly does everything he stands. Double standards? yep

  • @Notskill3d Try pressing the "ALT" key while pressing thumbs up on the previous comment LOL!? Why does it appear that way... weird..

  • @Notskill3d Racist? Really?

  • yes! very inspirational! thank you!

  • very true so true

  • @stetg19 I dont believe you can be racist and live in L.A. ....

  • @sifujordan ok 1 YOUR FUCKING AWESOME AND PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDs and 2 i meant the whole video dude your great though u just made my day

  • the wisdom spoken in this video is unparalleled by any other...much respect...i wish i lived in cali to take your classes...i feel like the reason us "new generation" dancers are not learning all the foundations of each style first is because many people aren't teaching like that whether it be through youtube video tutorials or in workshops...hopefully you see this cuz as a dancer at Penn State with nobody to teach me besides myself, it'll be nice to have some tutorials on foundation.thanks!

  • thanks man this realy inspired me to make my dance more unique.

  • Very inspirational man I'm sharing this

  • first!!!!!!

  • @stetg19 brilliant
