Lou performs this classic comedy skit..with Sid Fields playing the crazy, abusive old bum here.Lou is the victim of Sid's violent rages..but Lou plays the scene with a little more subtly than Curly Howard.
One could also suspect the man who comes in at the end is the same actor as the old man in the cell. When the guy in the cell starts beating Costello, it's hard to see his face; it could be a different actor.
@flash472002 This was filmed in 1951. There was no CGI (and VERY few computers as a matter of fact!). Sid Fields played two roles in this sketch and he is indeed is in the cell as the "hobo" with Lou in addition to Costello's lawyer at the end. The final scene where the vagrant is beating upon the head of Sid as Lou's lawyer is, of course, utilizing a double.
@Carycomic Actually, this series was filmed during the years 1951-1952. At that time Shemp Howard had taken his brother Curly's spot in the team. Shemp held that part until he died in 1955. Joe Besser held the part of "Curly Joe" until he left (or was thrown out depending on your sources) by Joe DeRita. So Besser's A&C role would be considered pre-Stooges.
NIAGRA FALLS! When i saw him standing there slowly I turned step by step step by step I crept upon him and when I felt his hot breath on my cheek I struck!
Stolen from the Three Stooges.

Sid Fields also co-starred on their series as their temperamental landlord. With a post-Three Stooges Joe Besser as his spoiled brat-nephew!

And, I also love the very end when the lawyer says "Niagara Falls" and the guy in jail grabs him from the cell and pounds his head repeatedly! LOL!!

"Mine is rather a sad story. Would you like to hear it?"
"No, sir."
"Well...then I'll...tell it to you."
Costello said "no", but the guy intended on telling him the story anyway. LOL
I also like when the guy yells for "Mary" and Costello copies him...then yells for Abbott. Heck, the whole skit is awesome!
