@akcessdenied LMAO. No doubt! But I hear it all the time about how people don't have the room. This skimmer can be scaled down for any size aquarium. The only donwside is the noise of an air pump.
Way to make it personal; just a critique, not a personal attack. There is in fact, far too much turbulence in the riser tube to form a good stable foam, which likely reduces efficacy. If you can't take criticism, don't post on youtube.
Good question, and no. I actually built it while recovering from a stroke, and put nothing on paper. There are some build pictures on my web site which you can find by googling "jnarowe". Any of my forum posts will have link to the site.
It extracts organic compounds by adhering them to the bubbles, which are then are skimmed off in the form of a foam head. Once the foam comes out of the water column, it settles into a liquid which is essentially what refer to as fish poo. That's not really correct, but man does it smell horrible. This is just one method of filtering aquarium water that we use to ensure good water quality for fish and corals.
And BTW, I fall into the "crazy hobbiest" catagory! :)
LMAO...don't trhink I haven't thought about that!

Too much for people who don't know anything about practical skimming.

How many gallons are you skimming? I looked that pump up and exspensive it is so is it worth all the work?
saltyguy52 2 years ago
very worth it. total system volume = 1,200g. I ran about 600gph through the skimmer @ 105W.
