@james64ok The narration at the beginning of The Source is voiced by no other that Peter Wingfield who plays an ancient immortal named Methos. Methos appeared throughout Highlander: The Series from Season 3 onwards. I've met Peter Wingfield and he's an exceptionally nice guy.

This whole franchise has turned into shit. Face it, we need new good guys to fall in love with and new bad guys to hate. Adrian Paul sucks and Christopher Lambert had his shot couldn't do it again. Lets get NEW BLOOD!

It's okay, to some tolerable, if you haven't heard the original in a while. To me... It's tolerable, but I'm only a Highlander fan by proxy. To a true fan of the series, or Queen, or BOTH... It's like someone took a plate of cookies and switched out the chocolate chips for rabbit droppings, then laced your milk with white paint.
My problem was how the song came the fuck out of nowhere; it's the kind of thing I was expecting to hear at the end credits, not some random montage that comes from having killed some nameless cannibals. In all truth, it's not an AWFUL cover...I more hate it for the context it was used in.

It's funny. At first I didn't mind this cover, the segment from 1:26 to 1:30 is particularly endearing, but the longer it goes on the more crude it is in comparison with the original. Awkward pauses, instrumentation that never gets any more complex than that same guitar riff, an unnecessary chorus... I'm not gonna blame them for mixing up the tune a bit since virtually no one has Freddie Mercury's superhuman vocal range, but all of it takes a fantastic song and makes it something very average.

While I recognize that the Mercury version is vastly superior, this is by no means a bad cover. It wasn't done by Queen, so it obviously isn't as good as the original.
I would ask that if any of you are thinking about becoming highlander fans. I beg you please watch the first movie from 1986 and only the first of that series, Then watch the tv series. Please avoid the other highlander movies about connor and for the love of your humanity don't subject yourself to the horridness of Endgame or the Source. Look at it from the other side, lets say you hold the rights to what once was a very succesful franchise. You can either let it disappear or profit from it. So there is no way a big franchise will end unless it's popularity is compleetly gone or there is a conflict over who holds the rights and thus nothing gets made. If its clear who is allowed to make a Highlander movie then there will be a highlander movie. Therefor I'm just happy its a reboot and not a sequel to ''the source''.

@Lokeydin In that case they would have made a bigger lose if they had used an unknown franchise. Point is they weren't able to make a 'kick ass' movie but they still had the rights to Highlander and won't stop (ab)using them and try to cash in on it.
Whether this worked or not is besides the point. Owners of rights will always use them so once again I say I'm happy they are now rebooting because the Highlander narrative was finished in part 1 so none of these sequels can really be great.

Queen's original was so much better, and Duncans weapons he used in this movie were so gay compared to his sword. Although I am glad they finally gave an answer to the one but it could have been so much better. Just sad to see how far all this has fallen.
I wouldn't say it is forgotten the original is still good to watch but the rest should be forgotten, except maybe the fourth one because that helped with mixing duncan into the story of it all.

While I recognize that the Mercury version is vastly superior, this is by no means a bad cover. It wasn't done by Queen, so it obviously isn't as good as the original.

I would ask that if any of you are thinking about becoming highlander fans. I beg you please watch the first movie from 1986 and only the first of that series, Then watch the tv series. Please avoid the other highlander movies about connor and for the love of your humanity don't subject yourself to the horridness of Endgame or the Source. Thank you this has ben a public service announcement to bring goodness back to the highlander series.

Look at it from the other side, lets say you hold the rights to what once was a very succesful franchise. You can either let it disappear or profit from it. So there is no way a big franchise will end unless it's popularity is compleetly gone or there is a conflict over who holds the rights and thus nothing gets made. If its clear who is allowed to make a Highlander movie then there will be a highlander movie. Therefor I'm just happy its a reboot and not a sequel to ''the source''.

That they screwed it up is evidend, and how they could screw up this much is beyond me aswell. But it still remains understandable that they wanted to use the rights for 'something' as it is always better then nothing. Especially if someone just wants to rent the rights (meaning you have nothing to lose).

@Ronnet Well i mean no insult by it, its just if you have a concept taking advantage of it and making it a real winner is the best way to go, i honestly have no belief whatsoever that they did this, i seriously picture coke heads around a table and crayons.
Its just how i feel, i personally could have done a better job!
It would have been better if they never made this, any money they did make from this is penny's compared to how easy it could have been, they could have made 100o times more.

@Lokeydin, Have a concept -> make a winner, that's the way to go huh? Ofcourse it is, but obviously the people involved with this aren't able to do so. They have a choice, screw up something new or screw up Highlander and atleast get a reasonable return on their investment based on highlander being a popular name.
I dont like it but obviously someone, somewhere is going to keep working on highlander. That is why I like the comming reboot, its that or another sequel.

I actually did like Highlander 3 and end game was not to shabby.
I sent Adrian Paul an e-mail asking him where i could maybe send highlander movie ideas or more because i will send them solid movie ideas, i just want them to make a kick ass highlander movie like the first one.

@Lokeydin In that case they would have made a bigger lose if they had used an unknown franchise. Point is they weren't able to make a 'kick ass' movie but they still had the rights to Highlander and won't stop (ab)using them and try to cash in on it.
Whether this worked or not is besides the point. Owners of rights will always use them so once again I say I'm happy they are now rebooting because the Highlander narrative was finished in part 1 so none of these sequels can really be great.

@Ronnet Actually if they made any other movie with a fresh concept they could have made money, i actually don't believe it did make any money at all, it went straight to video, i highly doubt they made any money from it.
I also feel the actors with there ability's really deserved something better, i feel like everyone who saw this, was involved it its making and the cast and fans should be greatly insulted by this, a 10 year old could have done better and i mean that.

It's a shame , we could have had three or four good Adrian Paul Highlander theatrical pictures , instead Highlander is reduced to the sci-fi movie of the week. I'm not sure who too blame , really.

Just logged in to say this possibly the worst cover ever.
The guitar riffs are predictable (something Brian May never was) and the singing is terrible. That talking bit in the middle was a complete joke.
What's wrong with using the original? (apart from a film so poor probably couldn't afford to pay the royalties)
Trying to update a Queen song is always going to be a pointless and unwinable task.
Anyway, having said the good points don't forget this is a very bad cover.

Queen's original was so much better, and Duncans weapons he used in this movie were so gay compared to his sword. Although I am glad they finally gave an answer to the one but it could have been so much better. Just sad to see how far all this has fallen.

I wouldn't say it is forgotten the original is still good to watch but the rest should be forgotten, except maybe the fourth one because that helped with mixing duncan into the story of it all.

this movie had a few bizzar cover tunes
i duno how many noticed but you hear "The Foo Fighters" along with "Brian May" and they perform pink floyds have a cigar : /
saying that though theirs 2 cuts of this film & this opening with methos is not the official sorce release,
i got the dvd & it is anna who does the intro talk, not methos, the dvd edits a better movie but they should of kept methos voice on intro : /

its a shame about the scan lines but its a prity good edit
i recently got the sorce on dvd (and it is diffrent from both the internet versions that are going round)
i have got both internet versions to lol, but the dvd is defo a diffrent edit (the online dvd rip is the same edit as the russian pirate copy, only in dvd quality)
i remember reading a few places said the dvd rip was the same & its defo not.
anna does the talk over, like it said on adrian pauls site :)
