  • I have commented and subscribed to your account several times under different names but I came back again because I was on a Marion Cotillard kick and I remembered this lovely interview. I highly enjoyed watching your videos and will be subscribing again and watching more again! :-)

  • marion is good and so necessaire well so high colloors you know i m so in sublime point of view to her, marion is super lagoon and diallogue universal hanging hands don't youknow she's happier from inside her days and beauty days sublime no erreur peut-etre pas necessaire maintenant la vie reste belle avecm

  • @brrrrr12 watch la vie en rose. It doesnt matter about the subtitles it is soooo amazing anf mezmorising. U will rememver it forever

  • She should sing indochine songs

  • My favorite scene from the movie was when she was being stubborn with her mother and she was yelling at her. LOL

  • She's beautiful!

  • She's soo fucking adorable!

  • Love her in Inception, and Public Enemies. I'd love to see La Vie En Rose, but subtitled films really wouldn't have the same effect.

  • When you hear people say that films are trashy these days simply refer them to this new classic film. Stephen Holt being a gregarious gay man makes me proud to be gay. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS OUTSTANDING VIDEO!

  • @darlinkula1 Thank you soooo much! This is the highest rated, most popular interview I've ever done! STILL! It's my #1 hit getter! Mon dieu! And I'm so grateful for the impact this video has had. Both on my career and Marion's too! Sasha posted this on her wonderful site Awardsdaily & ran it all season through the Oscar voting. This was before I was on You Tube even! And then she won the Oscar! The thrill of thrills! & her new movie "Midnight in Paris" is ALSO magnifque!

  • When I first saw the scene when she was 44, ill, outdoors reflecting I thought she was ancient; she was my age! Her body obviously was wreaking havoc from disease, alcohol, morphine....a hard life in general will age you then add the addictions. I believe God gave her voice and songs flowing through her as a gift; medicine to her soul and the soul of those who hear her music.

  • o i absolutely adore this interview! and i love her accent here when she's speaking in english ^__^

  • @s2MeJustYou And you'll love her even more in "Midnight in Paris" where Woody Allen has her photographed so beautifully, you could just faint! It's the leading female role, and she's incredible, as the muse who has inspired all the great art of the past centuries. And this one, too, if you count Woody's masterpiece. It's a beautiful, beautiful film.

  • @StephenHoltShow oo wow, thanks for the recommendation, i'll definitely be checking that out! ^__^

  • waiiit, he said she's in her twenties, i read that she was born in 1975, which would make her in her early thirties. can anyone clear that up for me? lol

  • @heyheyha193 You're right. That is her correct age. She was totally unknown in the US at that time, so there was no information on her.

  • I just saw the movie...it blew me away!!! She is soooo talanted! I couldnt believe that was her, shes done a wonderful job. Marion deserves Oscar ABSOLUTELY!

  • hi stephen my name's jorge, i'm mexican and i really love edith piaf....and marion...well she's an amazing actress...i have watched la vie en rose 5 times hehehe....good interview.

  • @EatherxDeens i've always loved france. there's always been some kind of connection to that country...i love the food, the language, the people, the fashion, the culture, france's history and i love paris! and this has been going on for way before i knew about this movie or even marion :) but now that i do, it just makes me wanna learn more about this country and french language and hopefully one day, i'll be able to move to france :)

  • its scary how confincing she played that part

    definitly a talented actress

  • Hehe I think you guys love France so much since Marion Cotillard is famous in US. (I'm French and it's just so funny to see how you admire an love France)

What do you love that much in France?

  • She is so gorgeous, an amazing actress and she is French! What more can you ask for?

  • "Will they understand what we are talking about?" LOL

    she's so cute

  • *pumps arms into air* STEVE HOLT!

    ...sorry... I really couldn't resist. :)

  • marion is a very shy person in interview and you succed to make her confortable, a real performance. i really liked her in nine when she said to daniel i'm empty. When you see hers eyes at this moment, you can say this actress acts with hers eyes. incredible.

  • All the compliments he told her are true.

  • Stephen I've been her fans for ages but I never post. When are you going to sit with her again for an inteview?? She was really at ease with you and we all know she's kind of shy for interviews.

  • @prohibitedname I honestly have no idea. "La Vie En Rose" was in a very unique situation. I immediately saw it's Oscar potential for her performance and hence this lovely ten minute interview. This was at a time in May of that year when no one had ever heard of her, and Edith Piaf was all but forgotten here in the Etats-Unis. Well, "La Vie En Rose" changed all that, but at the time, before the film opened, NOBODY wanted to cover it like I did because it was in French! I saw her Oscar potential.

  • @StephenHoltShow I'll second that.I would love you to get the chance to interview her again. This is by far still her best English speaking interview.

And I do remember that you were the first to highlight La vie en rose and Marion's performance when no one else cared about it,you still do that with other films wish is really great!

  • @OliverEByrne Good news! I'm due to interview Marion for the first time since this amazing day a few years ago at the Toronto Film Festival where she will be with her new film"Little White Lies."!?! I hope this works out!

  • @StephenHoltShow YES! This is so great , I keep my finger crossed that it will work out. I eared a lot of good things about "Little white lies" .Guillaume Canet directed it ,his previous film "Tell no one" was pure genius so I cant wait to see it!!

  • @StephenHoltShow Lokked at your blog, good job...Yes Marion and Guillaume were very unlucky for the premiere of their film,It's actually Danny Boyle who saved the day for them.Still I am looking forward the interview.

  • @OliverEByrne Oliver I DID get the beateous Marion for another interview at TIFF for "Little White Lies"! Coming soon! But right now you can read about herTIFF experience in my brand new blog! At wordpress -Type in StephenHoltShow

  • @OliverEByrne Good news! I just got the transcribed vids of Marion's new interview with me at this year's Toronto Film Festival and I have a meeting with a new editor this week, Friday, so I'm hoping it's not much more than a week from Friday that it's posted. It's a one-camera shoot of her and she looks GORGEOUS!

  • What an incredibly good interview that was! You should be very proud i dont think many interviewers are able to show Marion's personality very well, she really is the most amazing woman i have never met.

  • @sammassammas13131313 Thank you. She haunts my dreams as she does Leonardo's character in the excellent "Inception". R U a subscrber Sammassa? You sound like you should be. Thx for the lovely comment!

  • HUGE MARION COTILLARD FAN! i <3 her! beautiful actress...with such amazing talent!

  • merciiii!!

  • She's so adorable :)

  • Bravo to Ms. Cotillard! She was absolutely incredible in La Vie En Rose! She richly deseved all the rewards for that year!

  • very cute indeed haha

  • I love her.. shes my little rock&roll queen

  • that is a very professionally done interview...man...i think u should appear in TV one day 4 that...haha

  • I love marion cotillard. she was great in Jeux D'enfants , la vie en rose, and i think moi et toi.

    she is a badass.

  • she is the nicest, most down to earth actress i have ever watched and she does all of her acting flawlessly. AND, after seeing "NINE"..wow! she has an amazing set of tubes on her :) her singing is haunting :) brava ma cherie x

  • im gay and marion cotillard is the ONLY woman other than meryl streep i would LOVE to have sex with!!!!!! lol

  • @artmania1990

I am straight but might go gay if it means to sleep with her and why not meryl too

  • i seriously need to see this movie. after i saw Nine, i was speechless! :D she is my new favorite actress.

i love her sooooo much! :) fantastic interview.

  • You should watch "La vie en rose" - her performance is better than "Nine". It was her best performance in life. I watch most of her movies.

  • Marion Cotillard is INCREDIBLY AMAZING! One of the few truly talented actresses of our time.

  • To me, she resembles everything a movie star should be.

  • I totally agree. And she's great in "Nine" too! You should definitely see it if you're a Marion fan! Are you a subscriber? You should be! Just click on the subscribe button on the upper right hand corner. It's free. It's easy and that you won't miss anything! Every hit counts!

  • @pianistnyc D'accord! And you should see her in "Inception"! She's again truly, truly gorgeous and a beautiful actress! She plays a character that haunts Leonardo Di Caprio named Mal and they keep playing "No, Je ne Regrette Rien"!

  • @pianistnyc Absolument!

  • She's beyond beautiful....there's something truly magical about her.

  • she's so beautiful... & she slightly reminds me of rachel weiz [sp?]

  • She's sooo sexy with that accent> Man I'd be trying to get with her if i were famous

  • What an amazing actress!! One of the greatest alive!!! She and Sylvie Testud are France's gift to contemporary French Cinema!!!

  • Please, what is not true, what she was told ?? 3:59 I didn't catch what he said...

  • that Piaf was harbouring same-sex tendencies!

    hope I helped!

  • If Edith had an affair with Marlene Diedrich

  • I wanna be an actor, and a talented filmaker, it would be a privilege and something awesome to make a movie opposite her.

  • loooooooove her♥

  • es muy bonita

  • She looks like the mature version Audrey Tautou.

  • what do u mean ?

  • yet another great interview Stephen, you definitely seemed to make Marion feel comfortable as I know she's quite a shy person! She seems like such a sweetheart and what an amazing performance she gave in 'la vie en rose' she definitely deserved the oscar!

  • She's soo beautiful

  • wow poor her....shes not in her 20's shes like 32 or 33.....but i luv her!

  • she is the prettiest woman alive

  • are you sure?

  • @xxwhoelse If you see her in "Midnight in Paris", that's what she's playing! Woody Allen and I both agree with you!

  • i love Stephen!! he is great!! ahhh j'adore marion, aussi!!!

  • shes very charming and she was a knock out as edith.. i would probably say this is actually 1 of top 10 biographical performances

  • goog questions (and answers), though. it would be a good interview on paper.

  • she was absolutly amazing i loved the movie and loved her!!

  • I was so happy for her when she won. She absolutely transformed for that part. This is great, Stephen.

  • Marion is a shy person and is not necessarily well-off, but in this interview, we can feel she is comfortable, smile. So great interview bravo. She is so amazing in la vie en rose.

  • She gave one of the most unforgettable performacess of the century. Surely to be in my top 5 for the decade.

  • ^ : : : : : SEE PROFILE : : : : : :
  • She ruled in "La Vie En Rose", she deserved the oscar...can you imagine 5 hours if make-up?

    I love your interviews :)

  • Merci beaucoup, dimi2680!

  • Hey Stephen I was curious how you felt about Charlize Theron's performance in Monster? It's also a major transformation but I think it's unfair when some people dismiss Charlize and Marion's performances as all makeup when clearly they dug deeper and inhabited their characters.People seem to applaud male actors who tranform but say when a beautiful actress wins "they just won for uglying up".I think Theron and Cotillard gave the 2 most amazing female performances of the decade.

  • I agree, but this is a very complex question and deserves a very complex response. And there's only 500 characters in this response box! Bottom line, actors optimally are supposed to be able to play ANYthing in a wide range of characters and emotions. And certainly Marion and Charlize did this in the films that won them their Oscars. Was there any emotions Marion DIDN'T play in "LVER"???

  • She is just so beautiful...good Lord! If I were a man...I'd flip for her....that movie is phenomenal also!!!! she is Unbelievable in that and the Oscar was so deserved

  • If I were a straight man, I'd flip for her, too! She's lovely in an unforgettable way that appeals to all genders and all nationalities. She's just started shooting the movie musical "Nine" I understand. Where she'll be singing in her own voice!

  • LOL!! That was funny...you are right..she appeals to both genders. She is just so adorable...wow! That will be wonderful to hear her sing because she has a pretty voice.

    Thanks!

  • I sang the song "la vie en rose"

I love Edith piaf and marion cotillard

I'm sorry for my english, I'm french.... =)

  • je suis si fière de toi marion ! tu joues vraiment super bien ! <3

  • Amazing interview. I really loved her in la vie en rose. She is such a talented actress. I'm so glad she won the oscar this year. Allez la france! (italian girl is saying this:P)

  • Amazing interview! I just loved her in la vie en rose. She is such a talented actress. I am so happy she won the Oscar this year. Allez la france!!! (Italian girl is saying this...:P)

  • Wow! This is a fantastic interview! Congratulations Stephen!! Marion is a very talented, genuinely beautiful and inspiring actress!! Lots of kisses from Greece!!! Bisous!! :-)

  • Oh my goodness, I am in love with Marion. She is so gorgeous. I am flying the flag for her here in the UK, and I'm always showing her Oscar win and press room singing to my friends, who all agree she seems to be the most lovely, genuine person.

Not to mention the performance, which is truly one for the ages. My favourite Best Actress performance of the 2000s.

Well done on this lovely interview, it is so nice to see Marion treated with courtesy and respect. She is clearly very receptive!

  • 1 question.......marion sings??????

  • Yes...I believe this is discussed few pages back. Check out her backstage post-Oscar win mini press conference. She sings there without any musical accompaniement(sp?), even. She sings "Pa-Dam."

  • Merci beaucoup

    Muchas gracias

    Thank you

  • thank you stephen!! thank you for not falling into polemics (it was 2 a.m at the Catacombes, so.. you know..!it was completly out of context!:))!!..You appreciate her talent and that's pretty cool to think that is the really first time a french actress won an oscar for a french movie, directing in french, on a french singer! i mean! Simone signoret won for a part lead in english!! (forgive my english! i hope you could understand me!!:() Pleins de bises! a+!!

  • Thanks Stephen!..This is a nice interview..I love Marion!...

  • ahaha !!!! you fall in love !!!

  • I think this has to be one of my favorite films and I was totally captivated by this performance - I think it is for sure one of the best in many, many years. When I went to look to see what she looked like after I saw this I was floored! I was really rooting for her to win the Oscar and she did! Yay!

  • J'espere du fond du coeur que les américains seront assez comprehensif pour lui laisser ses prix . Cest trop triste sinon .

  • Elle parle super bien anglais ! J'adore Marion .

  • Moi, aussi!

  • Damn She's Beautiful! The Movie was amazing! Best movie of the year

  • "I sing when she is drunk and she sings like hell" haha... priceless

    she is awesome

  • The scene where she does sing in her own voice is about half-way through the film, and yes, she's in a bar and there's a lot of people around her. She's not on stage, and yes, she does sing like hell. But she still sounds like Piaf and she sounds absolutely authentic.

  • oh my goodness with all the makeup on i would never have guessed she was so young! She's beautiful.

  • The Make-Up for this film also won an Oscar. They had to devise a special "Make-Up Bed" for her to lie on, so she could sleep as they applied the make-up, which took hours. She said sometimes she would cry in her sleep and wash the make-up away and they would have to start all over again. But they tried not to wake her until it was finished. Laura Linney said that Marion was "acting on a different level than the rest of us", meaning the other nominees. Marion DESERVED her Oscar!

  • (sorry) GORGEOUS!

  • she is SOOOO

  • TRES BIEN! MARVELOU MARVELOU in all honestly this is by far my favorite movie yet she was absolutly magnificent. its amazing how shes so humble in real life and yet plays the total opposite of that by far the best actress. totaly deserved that oscar beautiful beautiful girl shes soo hottttt

  • she more than deserved that award. what a difficult role for her to play--yet she did it so damn well; what a lovely, talented woman.

  • What a lovely interview!! Unlike many interviewers here in the U.S., you truly seem to enjoy interviewing her and I enjoyed watching it.

    I will subscribe!!

  • Thank you for subscribing and your lovely comments, AJ! Yes, I do truly love interviewing these wonderful talented people. They're artists and should be treated as such. And it was beyond exciting to know that I was doing the first in-depth US TV interview with La Belle Marion. And she liked me, too. They liked me so much they've put me on the French DVD in the special features section!! I haven't seen it yet, but posters here keep telling me about it. They're in France, of course.

  • Very interesting interview, great questions. Thank you!

  • This is a great interview! Just subscribed!

  • jcnsync, thank you for subscribing!

  • What an awesome interview! It's so candid and your questions are unique, definitely not that common blabber you typically hear :)

  • Thankx, totallychicken! Why don't you subscribe then you won't miss anything?

  • I think this is one week scandal maximum two. After that she returns like she is: a brilliant and talented star. It's unfair about her critics, but it's also true that she has a lot of fans and defenders of this issue.

Again Congratulations Marion, Very well deserving Oscar for her marvelous and outstanding performance in La vie en rose

  • Exactement, mon ami, exactement Deux semaines, son beau et doux talent fera tout oublier.

  • Thank you Stephen Holtt for the video and I am glad that you say that that peice of tabloid garbage is allready getting too much undeserved attention, very sad Marion his such a sweet genuine person she certainly dont deserve all that crap.

Pauvre Marion , esperons quelle garde le courage , il vont vraiment lui rendre la vie dure.

  • Marion.. Sad but true, don't go to Hollywood... If you go there maybe you'll suffer the curse (Hunt, Paltrow, Swank, Berry and Witherspoon) or you'll stay in the limbo (Roberts, Kidman and Theron). You must stay in Europe Better roles in better places. Hollywood losts you not you

Hollywood losts you not you. Just a favor silence is prettier. OK!!

  • totally agree with your comment ILCP87

  • she's so pretty and she sings pretty

  • This video is not the best place for questions about 9/11. Marion Cotillard is not considered as an expert for this subject in France.

patriotsquestion911 dot com (with 130 artist names) is an interesting site if you are searching some real US experts thoughts as well.

Winning an Oscar is also one month of interviews especially when you are not famous as her in the US. She particularly talked about that in France (so much english interviews is quite exhausting for a french).

  • I'm sure she misspoke or was mis-translated. We were ALL lied to by the present administration about many things. I think what Marion really meant was lost in translation and this site is certainly not the place to discuss anything but her beautiful performance and her triumphant, historic Oscar win,s'il vous plait.

  • Once again, I can't help repeating that I just love this vid, she's amazing and speaks english so well!... she's just the best!! ^^ thx for publishing this video! ;D

  • SHE TOTALLY DESRVED THAT OSCAR!

  • D'accord!

  • "In a interview she reportedly gave a year ago, the star is shown commenting on the events of 11 September 2001.

"I think we're lied to about a number of things," the Paris-born 32-year-old is seen saying in French.

Cotillard's best actress Oscar was one of several awards she won for playing singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.

She is due to begin filming gangster movie Public Enemies with actor Johnny Depp shortly. "

    THE BBC NEWS

Needless to say, my new favorite actress!!!

  • Stephan did you ear all the bad stuff people say about Marion now. They took a very innocent interview and things she said about Conspiracy theories and 9/11, took them out of context to try to dammage her image.I guess when a French actress winn people allways have to look for something mean to say about them. That makes me sad especially that Marion his just a good person.

I am disapointed and sad because I feel that the U.S in general really have something against anyting French.

  • No, Oliver I have not heard anything about this.

  • what did she say..???

  • wow... just wow

  • Stephan you are the best: "Ohh la vie en rose fantastique, incroyable" lol.. Marion is one of my oldest friend from Paris.

Elle certainment a un future tres brilliante ahead of her. J'espere sincerement c'est ca.

  • tu as vraiment de la chance de connaitre marion... J'aimerais juste dire que tu as entièrement raison d'affirmer qu'elle le mérite, pour "la môme" ou "la vie en rose" to english people, she was just amazing! thank you marion for everything you bring to us... and once again : FELICITATION tu le mérites!

  • Merci, cyberce!

  • No problem, I can re-post :D. So I told you that in the french edition of de DVD, you can be seen speaking a bit of french, saying that you predict who will be nominee at the Oscar, and then you say that Marion Cotillard is a possible nominee for best actress (and you were right !). Then, ce can see Marion and you tell each other good bye.

    Et voilà :)

  • Merci mille fois, Anne Chechile! That's great news! Thank you for re-posting!

  • It would be a good idea for Picture House to come out with Special Edition DVD of the movie plus another DVD behind the scenes, the making and documentary high light her journey to all her 4 major awards and of course some interviews like yours which is my favourite. I'm sure Marion's fans all around the world would love to own them.

I'll be the first inline for it. Mr. Holt, could you pass along this message to Picture House possible? Thank you.

  • Bonne idee! I will try to do this, but I bet a Post-Oscar Special Edition DVD is probably in the works. I think they were waiting nervously to see if Marion did, indeed win. And she did!

  • I get the impression that you don't get my comments because they are not published (or I can't see them, I don' t know). As I said in a comment which has not been published, I wondered if the DVD was being sold in USA, because if it was, it would be a great news. This film is so... WAHOU ! It's always a pleasure to watch it, it always brings so powerful emotions !

  • It's either out now in the US or coming out very shortly. But it is not the same as the DVD in France, where in a section in Special Features, I am here in a segment about Marion going to NY. Or so I'm told. I have not actually seen it myself.

  • La Vie en Rose has been out for a few months now it's an awesome movie

  • Ohmigosh, AnneChechile! I hit the wrong button pressing "remove" instead of reply! Can you re-post your very considerate description of the French DVD of LVER. I have not seen it, only heard about it.

  • I watched it allso and it felt just right thinking that she wonn for the role. I keep watching your vid lol I'm a big Marion fan and like I mentioned VERY little people in the U.S gaved her a serious interview so I love that this one exist. You should take somme proud Mister Holt in the fact you were the first in the U.S media that have given her a chance to speak to an American audience about the film. In fact this is the longest U.S interview of her,I'm sure of that.NOW they'll be interested :(

  • Merci mille fois encore une fois, Oliver. It was a great day. I knew it was going to be a very important moment for the both of us and as you can see, she liked me. She really liked me. And so did all her people. They put me on the DVD in France in the special features section. I have not seen her since but I am sure she's aware of all this. She said about me at the time, "He makes me smile."(!!!)But her international film career, after winning the Oscar is such a great surprise, is assured.

  • thank you Marion all peoples in France are proud of you ... and of this movie ... and of "the Big" Edith Piaf of course ^^ Bruno Paris/France PS 1 : I repeat that everywhere in Youtube but what do you want that summarizes my mind as well as possible lol PS 2 : Superbe interview plein de vie, de naturel et de joie merci mister "StephenholtShow" ;-) thks Mister "StephenHoltShow"
  • Merci bien, monsieur. C'est un chose incroyable pour le cinema mondial, je pense, et bien sur, pour le cinema francaise. I watched LVER on DVD ce soir. And I was riveted encore une fois! Marion, oui, est superbe. Le chanson final "No,Rien de Rien" ---I'm speechless! Like she was when she won the Oscar! Merci La Belle Marion pour tous! She gave her heart and soul in that movie! It's one of the great screen performances.

  • Is the DVD sold in USA ? If it is, it's a very good news for the film. And a very good news for people I think, because it' so good to watch the film as much as we want. Every time I watch this film the emotion of the first time is still here. It's magic !

  • Je vous découvre, cher Stephen, et j'adore votre rire. C'est contagieux!

Bien sûr félicitations à Marion, elle méritait toutes ces récompenses.

This interview is great. A very talented actress. I'm glad her talent was rewarded in the USA. It's huge here in France that she got the oscar. Incroyable!

    Love from France

  • Merci beaucoup, Severine. I wish my French was better so I could respond to your lovely post totallement en Francais.

Aussi, dans ma "Channel" il est une autre piece quand je parle avec la belle Emmanuelle Seigner et elle parle de Piaf et LVER. Elle joue la prostitute "Tintine" dans cette film. Elle est comme une mere de le petit Piaf.

  • lool! your French is very good! I rarely heard English speakers pronouncing so well our tricky "r"s. Just as your "h"s are pretty difficult for us to pronounce;))

Emmanuelle Seigner is a great actress too. Olivier Dahan (the director) clearly chose beautiful and great actors for his movie. Congratulations to the whole crew for this amazing movie

  • But you'll note in Emmanuelle Seigner's interview that she was unhappy with O.D. in LVER. "They made me look so ugly in that film," she says surprisingly. She's MUCH happier with "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"! I think she looked beautiful in BOTH! And both were memorable performances,je pense.

  • Marion est fantastique... vraiment superbe dans cet extrait (l)

Je suis très fiere d'elle, fière qu'elle ait gagné l'Oscar, elle le méritait largement !

  • To Stephen Holt : Thank you for posting this, it's an interesting interview, and it shows how warm and natural she is. I'm so happy she won the Oscar, she really deserved it, and it would have been a crime not to give it to her. Thank you again !

PS : I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm french.

  • You can post in French. Lots of people here do. Even me, de temps en temps!

  • She looks like Monica Bellucci ♥

  • To ReigningNINYA : I don't think she looks like Monica Bellucci. Their physical appearance is really different. Marion has an original beauty, she's natural, contrary to Monica Bellucci who looks really superficial I think.

  • Noooo .. Marion is better than Monica BELLUCI .. faut pas exagérer qd même !! loool

  • no!!!

i like marion but..... nothing looks like monica bellucci!!!! NOTHING!!!!

  • je t'aime marion! elle est le plus belle

  • Cate already won oscar, so maybe this year she saw all the "playing" of the nominated actress, and she felt in love with La vie en rose, like I did. Mostly everyone who talk shit against her winning don't even saw the movie or just don't like french people, because she deserved it. I really like Jonnhy Depp, but I don't think that he deserved an oscar for his last movie!

  • When you have already won an Oscar like Cate Blanchett or Julie Christie, it is even harder to win Oscar #2. Johnny Depp was really poised for a win this year between two previous winners, Daniel Day-Lewis and George Clooney. Unfortunately, "Sweeney" didn't rate with the Academy. Too gory, as opposed to violent. "No Country For Old Men" was violent and so was "The Departed", so things have changed.NCFOM was a study in evil, rather than a singing horror movie, which is what they thought of "ST."

  • About Cate Blanchett, considering how much the Academy loves her, I think she's destined to win a second Oscar eventually.
