Warranty had passed anyway. He was pretty quickly nearing the end of it's life anyway so this would be a good way for it to go if it was even going to.
i've thought about doing this very thing myself but haven't been able to find any info online about primers, paints, masking etc. What did you use to mask off everything...especially like the power button and the touchpad area...and any info on the types of paints and where to but those would be great too...thanks
Well you just need a basic primer similar in color to what you want to paint the laptop with. We didn't have much so we just used some generic grey primer. As for the masking off we just used blue painter's tape, you can get it in wide and thin widths. For most of the laptop we painted it with black matte camo paint which i also use for repainting airsoft guns.

just a question? is the dell inspiron 3500 an ok model.. i've been offered one for a 2 GB ipod nano that cost me 200 dollars. Should i take it?
tumnus32 3 years ago
The inspiron 3500 is worth about $30 on ebay. It's a Pentium 2 300Mhz, don't waste your time with it.

You'll have to find the service manual for your laptop. It describes everything you need to do to disassemble it.

Would white look good?
igadgetreviews 4 years ago
I don't see why it wouldn't. Though with white i'd probably go for semi-gloss white...
bemasher 4 years ago
i might paint mine white
