The drum set is very similar to the Drummania KOC, they just kinda rearranged some things. What I believe happened is that Konami saw the rise in popularity of the rhythm rock band game genre and tried to hop on board. To be cost effective, they took most of their ideas from Drummania and made a horrible horrible US port of that game, slapped on a new interface and a new name and sold it here. Konami knows arcades, not home gaming.

This doesn't top Rock Band for me, but it's definitely better than Guitar [Homo]. It's very nostalgic of the DDR series which is why I got used to it so easily. If only they'd put more effort...I'd invest in it if there wasn't so much legal hassle.

Does it bother anyone that Rock Band uses the yellow note as a high hat, snare, and tom? I like the Guitar Hero drum kit because the cymbal notes stay with the cymbal pads. That's probably why Rock Band only has five notes while Guitar Hero has six.

I'm glad I decided go with the slanted 3D for my GH clone. I was thinking of doing it 2D because it's easier but then I thought of Rock Revolution and how people don't like that. Also, I personally like the GHWT drumset better. It comes with cymbals and I think it's well organized and easy to cross over.

good review, but as far as drum sets go, u cant really judge on things like toms and such, every drummers set is different, and plenty of drummers prefer only 2 toms anyway. theres no right or wrong

guitar and drum games are just like barbecue. both rock band and guitar hero cook their barbecue in slightly different sauces, and it depends on if you like both. now, rock revolution cooks barbecue in the same way, but its missing some ingredients in their recipe that both rock band and guitar hero included in their barbecue recipe (vocal support, manageable drumsets, etc.) and not that many people like the rock revolution barbecue recipe. thats why most people play rock band and guitar hero...

The drum set though looks so funny because the cymbals around it look like watermelon pieces to me.

I personally prefer the GHWT drum set but I like Rock Band 2 the game better itself.

True. I got GHWT on sale the band kit for the 360 for $100 at EB Games just on Tuesday. I hate the game though so I picked up Rock Band 2. I love the guitar though for GHWT much better then the guitar that came with GH3. The instruments are plain better then RB instruments but GHWT in my opinion just sucks compared to Rock Band. I never played GH1 but I do like GH2 a lot. But dislike GH3. Then again Harmonix made GH2 so maybe that explains a lot.

And on your RB2 setup: don't those pad covers take away from the responsiveness of the RB2 pads? I would use normal covers that fit completely over the drum. They sell them online for like 20-30 bucks, and they're like neoprene or something fancypants. They work fantastically, so I've heard. XD

You are aware that Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (the originals) and Rock Band 1 and 2 are made by the same company, Harmonix, correct? Harmonix was the first to create the concept of the guitar-based video game AND the full band game, with GH1 and RB1.
