  • scientifically what exactly is shell shock?

  • @francez123456789 Heavy stress

  • The worst story i heard about WWI, was something i actually couldn't believe. You now, my great grandfather had fought in WWI, as a Belgian soldier (1917-'18). After the bloody battle of the Yser, there were many casualty's. Most of these where taken to the hopital. But when these became to crowdy, the wounded soldiers (wich where not able to fight anymore) where taken to an abandoned area of the Yser, and where just trown over the banks, into the yser, and left there to die

  • World War 1 was defintly the most discusting, horrible, claustrofobic and hardest war wich was ever fought on this planet.

  • @XProductions92 all wars are disusting and pointless

  • @arnasgribas112 That's true!

  • @XProductions92 wasnt the civil war pretty bad too?

  • @thebestrebels yes ofcourse, no doubt about it! But its horrible to see all these disformed and burned soldiers. But every war is hard and pointless (the civil war, the 100 years war, waterloo, WWII and this war!), but i think it must be more than a hell to live in those trenches, those very small trenches, wich smell to rotten body's, shit and rotten food (wich they have to eat!). day and night, that same fear to get killed or disformed (like the soldiers in this clip), that must be horrible!!

  • Lions led by Donkeys

  • my grandmothers step dad suffured from shell shock he told storys of laying his friends dead disfigured bodys over barb-wire for them to crawl over to escape the mustard gas an machine-gun fire.

  • war... the worst crime men can commit against one another.

    :-(

    sad.

  • no one knows what it was like. it was probably worse than a living nightmare

  • Wow, thank you to the soldiers then and now and thank Elias5Barnes for this video.

  • 1:19 thats a man with shell shock

today is called bomb induced post traumatic stress disorder

  • Hey man, great song for the video!

  • My god what an unfitting song why the hell would you pick this for a serious video like this?

  • @NorthernerMatty123 This is elias5barnes, the one who made this video. I feel the song is very fitting. "You're in the army now" is a common phrase that new recruits often hear. It is said to them with great confidence as if the army is going to take them some place great ...well look where the army took these poor souls! I chose this song to make a strong point. You may disagree, but that's how I felt when I made the video and still feel now. Thanks for your feed back:)

  • I like the song.

  • The lengths that those in power go to in order to maintain that power is this worlds greatest source of agony and tragedy. But perhaps the most disturbing part of it all it that we allow it. We are easily manipulated and docile scared of revolution and content. Keep ipods and playstations in the hearts and minds of the youth and a government can do what the fuck they want.

  • @Taydon21 , very true, america is the greatest country of all, but the people in it r hidden behind a wall of propaganda for which each country is fighting for the same reason, the reason i dont know because there is to many assholes in this country who think they know everything, while those assholes r sittin at home our soldiers r dodging bullets for an unknown reason

  • i feel real sorry for him thats fucked up.

  • After all these wars and horrors why do people still gloryfiy war? sorry for my bad english

  • It sickens me no matter what country it is or race that the people in power continue their sickening act of disharmony by slaughtering thousands if not millions of innocent people including those fighting. I certainly condemn war. War affects all not matter where you are or what you're doing.

  • its been happening for tens of thousands of years it will always be the same. people think cos theres a little 2009 at the end of the date that somehow means we should behave differently.

  • why the hell is this still happening?

  • TRAGIC. Heroes one and ALL !

  • I am currently in the Marines, and I notice that most people take for granted what sacrafices have been made. It saddens me to watch this video.

  • @Matthewrylee12 What these men went through was a bloody disgrace and the attitude that people have now to it is also a disgrace I agree with you

  • damn dude. The guys in that time said the ppl with shellshock were cowards. but they were the BRAVEST men that ever existed. poor guys Respect!

  • @vuur150 I agree totally with your statement

  • of all the things i have seen in my life in terms of modern horror films or even videos that can be found on the internet, this is the most disturbing...im 19 years old and i can never begin to understand what these men went through. but i can pay my respect.

  • Those facial injuries are just shocking,"war is the condonded and calculated slaughter of men".(harry patch)

  • "War is nessecary, even of no one wins" Fredrick Bassum

  • It's sad that young men have to fight the wars that old men start. However, as "

CattleRanche (1 week ago)" so aptly put it, we would all be wearing swastikas if our young men had not gone to war to protect us.

We all should sleep well at night because there are young men out there who are quite willing to do violence on those who are trying to destroy us here in America.

We are not by any ways perfect, but thank the Lord that we have freedom because of our troops and God's mercy on us!

  • are you serious?

  • This was not about Nazi's at all though.

Germany was just a country like everybody else in WW1.

Besides, America isnt the only country to be targeted for destruction you know.

  • obviously he does not...

  • sad part is each one of these men was once someone's little baby, someone's young man, someone's father or brother. they slept in their mothers arms and played.I have 3 young boys and would rather be dead than think of this happening to one of them. that being said it's obvious this was made by a pacifist and that sounds great on the surface sadly tyranny and oppression exist and asking them to stop doesn't work. i assure you pictures of rape, homes burning and genocide are just as bad.

  • Didn't bother me??? Did you even read my comment?? your response makes no sense?? I'm against war as well. who in their right mind wouldn't be? I also know if every soldier who ever enlisted DIDN'T we'd all be wearing a swastika on our shoulders right now. Before you come back criticizing me make sure you get your facts straight.

  • My apologies, I am sick with a bad cold at the moment and misread pacifist for something else. I agree with you 100%.

I also agree that sometimes fighting is needed. Sometimes tough action is required in order to fight for what is right. My great uncle was killed in WW1, and my grandfather was a shell-shock victim from WW2. I have much respect for veterans. I made this video to show people the horrors of war, but also in honor of these people. Thanks for viewing my video. Peace to you.

  • Did that man at 1:44 have thousand-yard stare?

  • Yes, that is thousand-yard stare.

  • la guerra es mala

  • I hope those horribly disfigured men were well cared for after coming home!

  • The sad thing is they most likely were not, after having seen the horror of war most of them would have had trouble living a normal life and because they were men if they spoke out about their problem they would have been made fun of.

  • Hello Tarantula619, Thanks for your comment on my video. Yes, you are right about some of these men getting being made fun of. Many of them were pointed out as monsters. The French made villages for those wounded with facial injuries so that they could live among other veterans, if they could not function in society.

  • well they were actually just send back to war. And if you did not wanted to go to the front or even go to war they were simpally shot because they were cowards!!!

    and yes thats weird

  • How can someone live with the wound in 1:12 and nice song.

  • and whats the songs name.

  • "Your in the army now"

    Status quo

  • there are people who have MRSA infections that required their entire face be removed-along with the eyes. yes, you can live without any face at all. may need to get nutrition thru a tube, but it is quite possible. people are very resistant.

  • i agree with you but having to go home with wounds in 2:01 i couldn't i m an ex soldier myself and never seen any thing like it i have the up most respect for those men who went to fight in a war to end all war

  • its Tyler just sayin congrats nice job on the vid

  • hey steve nice video mon

  • Very very good. I still think a lot of people don't realise exactly what these men went through, due to limited footage. Videos like this really hit hard.

  • Thanks for the comment! Yes this footage is getting rare, and so is just about everything else from world war 1. There used to be a time when you you could pick up old amo boxes, gas masks ect for dirt cheap. Now they have gone way way up in price. A world war 1 gas mask starts at at least $500. If you ever come across someone selling world war 1 items cheap, I highly recommend you pick them up! Peace mate! Send other people to this video, the more views the better! Thanks!

  • Indeed.

  • Well done, an eye opener hard to believe shell shock victims were considered cowards.

  • lots of them even got executed

  • and alot was only 13,14 or 15 years old just kids
