I think Emma did put her down. She takes her time to wait for Miss Wakefield to make a mistake. In my opinion it's worth waiting for.She lands a beauty of a karate chop, and Wakefield is ko'd in mid air.Just look at Wakefield in Steed's arms, whincing badly from that blow, she's been given the hiding of her life from Emma, even Steed looks surprised at how hard Emma's hit this woman, who is totally dazed.Ithink she's been well and truly put down by Emma.Has anyone any comments on this.I'd like to hear
Frankly, who cares. The Avengers is one of the all time greats, hammy fight scenes and all. I am happy to put up with the dodgy fight sequences and strange plots, if only to relive the same feeling of excitement, as I did when I used to hear the Avengers theme tune every week when I was a boy.
@carl75ful Yes I have seen it, although it seems to have disappeared from YT recently. For me, that could have been a brilliaint scene, but the way the women double summersaulted when they were hit was a bit TOO silly, even for an Avengers fight. I did like the way Emma finished off the last two though. It would have been terrific if we'd seen Emma knocking out all six of them "properly".
Ah, of course. Last of the Summer Wine. Hilariously naff extended Keystone Kops fight sequence to end it all, ending appropriately with Peter Bayliss getting cream pied. Pure slapstick.
Why is it that Emma has an extended fight with what appeared to be letter opener wielding secratary, where she clumsily stumbles and acts scared and never really does put her down ............ but when she fights some burly guy with a gun, she chops the gun out of his hand, bitch slaps him around and KO's him with some slick karate Judo combo?
Was the lady in this video some sort of super woman?... why did she have such a tough time with her?
@wjb4341 I heard this was the first Emma episode to be filmed (though seventh to air) so I don't think her character had been truly developed yet. Her fashion and demeanor are more like Cathy Gale, the witty rapport with Steed wasn't fully there yet, and the fight scenes with her were clumsy. Only in time did Emma finally have a style (fashion, wit, fighting) of her own.
I must say that you are an absolute angel for posting all these Avengers vids. I always favoured the New Avengers but I am absolutely loving all these Gale and Peel episodes. At some point I really must do something else with my spare time than watching the Avengers!! Please can you post some Tara King episodes at some point? Thanks again!!

Maybe the fight with Ms. Wakefield was long to fulfill the amount of time for each show?

The words "because she kills for a living" come to my mind.
