  • best 'closing' video I have seen. Very transparent and easy to follow. But agree with others ... what's up with the spotty paper ... take this exact video, some plain colored paper and you have yourself the unique distinction of being the only video that makes 'closing' actually accessible. Well done and thank you

  • Kaliz,

I have been trying to fold this model since 2006, and today I have succeded, with the help of your video.

Thanks a ton. Seriously, great help. Best of luck to you=)

    **

My problem was step 24 to 26. That's where I got stuck. I think there is a mistake on the diagram. The diagonal valley fold in step 24 is 3 squares long, while in your video (and my last, successful attempt) it's 4 squares. Am I missing something , or is it really a mistake and a time to mail honorable mr. Chan?

  • You are correct, on the usual version floating around there is a mistake. That's the reason why I link to another (unfortunately only archived) revised version up there in the info box about the video.

I'm glad you managed to succeed.

  • thank you very much for this video! it was very big problem for me at first, but after seeing this vid i think i could fold it! thank you so much man!

  • thank you soo much! i was having so much trouble with this part until i saw this video. thank you!!!!

  • hi kaliz!

im new member here at youtube, but i've been watching your videos for a while. i was wondering, could you make a video on how to do the precreasing?

  • dev.origami...

    That sight has the precreasing

  • yeah, i already knew how to fold it, but before i did, i always had difficulty on the increasing of the petals fold, but no one showed how to accurately do it! thats why i asked. besides, i would make a vid on how to do it, but my dad took away my video camera(i'm 10, not 16 like my profile says.) but, i'm taking suggestions, so just send me a message for any suggestions you have.(as in, anyone that reads this message.)

  • OMG!! that was really good steps!! its less comfuseing then the other vid i tried to do lol thanks dude!!

  • sry long time since i look back at this vid and mb if your not a guy lol

  • grr, may u please make a new video on each step? id appricaite it if u do :)

    also nice flower :P

  • i thought it was a rose lol

  • i thought roses were flowers O.o

  • I don't get step at 0:30....

  • nice instruction BUT your choice of paper makes it confusing. =)

  • nobody does

  • I don't get the step at 2:10...

  • What you are doing is folding over on creases that you made before, the mountain and valley from step 12. The mountain crease in the middle is used to form the cylinder of the rose which puts the outer two creases together. You are reaching in and folding the paper back a small triangle will need to be folded towards the inside. AdamsSara has a detailed video on it

  • Steps 25 - 27 are hard for me..any advice ppl can give me?Plz?

  • do you have any tips for doing step 9 in the instructions.

  • see AdamsSara video for precreasing

  • thnx alot but wuts up with the paper?

  • It´s having rubeola, so be carefull not to come near it ;)

  • Do you repeat steps 12 to 17 for 4 times or did you just do it once? I've managed to finish the rose, but I just can't figure out what steps 12 to 17 are for. I mean, the rose is still doable without having to go through those steps. But I'd really love to know if there's a purpose for them which I'm not aware of. Thank you for the video :)

  • Steps 13-16 are only there to change the direction of the creases. you could fold the rose without them as well, but it collapses a little bit better if you do them (on all four sides). Step 12 and 17 are important for collapsing the rose.

  • What do you mean it will collaspe better? Is it when you "open" the last four petals to finish the rose or is it part of something else? I have no difficulty with anything else except that last part of "flipping opver the petal..."

  • Now I get it! :) Thanks alot Kaliz!

  • Can you please, please, please make a video of how to make folds before the base.

    Thanks.

  • It look so good, I'm trying to do one but i'm stuck on the part that when you fold the little part on the rose patel. Can you fold the paper from the beginning and do it slowly when you get to the little part that split the patel. Your origami flower is great and beautiful.

  • Good job! I love it!

  • can you please make a video with all the steps icluded, cause ive tried this so many times, and still cannot get it! well thanks :]

  • i just uploaded my video, I can send you a hyperlink or something

  • could you please, that would be great xD

and sorry for such the long reply xD

  • well cant relle c the outcome all that great, but i think it looks pretty neat o.o....

  • wow you're right. also me is able to understand what you're doing now

    big compliment

what type of camera did you use?

  • Olympus Digital C-500 ZOOM

  • Thanks a lot for the tutorial.

  • i know its not the easyest to follow but it helpd though thanks

  • Would you mind explaining why at the end I have all this excess petal? I have followed all of these instructions and I get the sides of petals luffing out when I put it all together. I have a feeling something needs to be tucked in somehow. When this is complete it doesn't look the same as your's. I agree that the leopard print makes it too hard to tell what you're doing at the most critical parts. Please help. Thanks.

  • this is too difficult. I can only manage the simpler original kawasaki rose posted by litomonk. :(

I need someone to demonstrate to me on the spot. :(

  • I love this video, I have yet to understand how you did the last part of it to make such a nice holess back. If you ever decide to redo it and make a step by step videos. I'd be grateful. ^__^

  • nice, but i wont call this a kawasaki rose...n can u use any other papper??? y not zebra strips??

this leaopard pattern makes it really hard to see the creases, but still, thanks :D

  • How would you call it than? In fact it is a Kawasaki-Rose made after the Diagrams by Winson Chan. I know thare are a lot of other versions out there for example the old one diagrammed in "Origami for the Connoiseur", but it still is a Kawasaki-Rose.

About my choice of paper, yes it´s a little bit hard to be seen, next time I will use another one.

  • I thought kawasaki was the person who invented this folding method... toshido kawasaki?? i may be wrong.. i don't know if u know this, but roll the petals a bit, and it will look better

  • Toshikazu Kawasaki. In the video I only show the folding sequence, the shaping is up to you.

BTW I still prefer the "old" Kawasaki Rose...

  • well kawasaki made the rose so he called it with his name in it like mr toilet invented the toilet

  • Great job on the reversed engineered Kawasaki Rose. It too me forever to do the horrible precreases when I first did the model years ago. =)

What gets me excited now is that someone has posted the directions for the original Kawasaki Rose. Best of all, it only requires only a fraction of the precreases to do.

  • Awesome, thank you!!!

I see the icarus designed by Chris in the background :)

  • haha that's so awsome !! i tried making that xD but i couldnt .. obviously .. wow takes awhile
