@TimberWolf99, I can understand Martha not wanting anything to do with the WWE! She holds Vince responsible for Owen's death and I feel he is responsible but to deny Owen the honor that he deserves is just wrong!!! Please dont misunderstand what i'm trying to say! Martha has every right to feel the way she does! All I'm saying is for her to deny Owen his place in the Hall of Fame is not right!
I think in his interview Shane really seems upset not only about Owen's death but the way things ended with the Hart and McMahon family. We all know Owen was treated badly in his last year on this earth and Shane knows it too
@TimberWolf99 Listen man, you may not agree with his wife's wishes, but that's his wife. Whatever she wants, she gets. If she doesn't want the WWE to acknowledge Owen, then they shouldn't. We may all want to honor him because we miss him, but nobody has been hurt more from this tragedy than Martha.
its hard to believe its been over 12 years since the incident. and believe me i with themillions and millions of fans cried after watching this raw. it was a heartfelt good move on wwes part.
@TheMJF100 The only reason that hasn't happened yet is because Martha Hart doesn't want anything to do with WWE. I just wish she knew how all of us, his fans still feel about him. We still love & miss Owen & we want him in the Hall Of Fame to honor him, his life, & his memory. There are no words to adequately describe our feelings for Owen. Whether he gets inducted or not, we all know Owen is Hall Of Fame.
i remember being there! Even for tribute show, the crowd was so hot! (That just goes to show that the attitude era crowd blows the pg crowd away!) So much raw emotion from the wrestlers and crowd that night it was just an honor being there!
Jerry Lawler said it best. Never leave home without telling your families/loved ones how you feel about them because you may never get another chance. RIP OWEN. Gone but never forgotten!
A lot of people criticised Vince and the WWF for doing this show, but I disagree with that. It showed us the most important and most unknown thing about Owen Hart, his relationships and friendships; how much he meant to the real people behind the show. It was so tragic, I think it was the best tribute possible that the stars and the fans mourned together.
Owen Hart was never a nugget but he will always be the king of harts. R.I.P Owen and remember to take your vitamins, say your prayers and drink your milk.
I remember crying so much that night and to this day, I can't help but cry when I watch this. R.i.p Owen. "Well ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... AND IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE !!!"
wow, Debra was so emotional, I Remember a friend of mine and I was going inside a local shopping center, when we both saw owen hart, and he was signing autographs, so my friend and i went over, and we got our picture taken with him, and I won't never forget that moment, On a lighter note, I hope that The Rock gets to be the guest host of WWE Raw.
I appreciate you posting this, you probably don't know how much. The night that happened, we actually watched the show, and at first, they made it seem like he was going to be okay. Then toward the middle of the show they announced that he had actually died. I don't remember any of the matches that night. I do remember spending the next night crying as the WWE wrestlers said goodbye to their friend. I remember watching Triple H hold Chyna. I didn't know it was real until then. Thank you.
I never did get a chance to see Owen Hart wrestler I became a fan a few years after Owen's death. But when I first learned about him and the kinda of person he was it broke my heart to learn of his death. I've come to respect and care alot about the Harts. I've come to care alot about Owen. I guess when you really think about it when another human being passes on you regert never getting to know that person. Owen Hart is one man I wish I could have gotten to know. God Bless and We Miss you Owen
Thanks so much for posting this. I can't help but stil hold back the tears from 7:13 - 8:05 especially what Lawlor says. Probably the most heartfelt thing I have ever heard or seen in the wrestling biz. Thanks again.
i fucking cryed like hell when king said to never leave home without saying that you love your family its soo true my wife just lost her cuz who was like a brother to her and i see the pain in her eyes bc she never got to say good buy we have a lil 3 year old name emma who like her daddy loves this sport and every time i go to wk i tell my wife and baby that i love them
And this whole night, you could tell the future of pro wrestling. The guys who clearly are in the business and willing to sacrifice so much for the job. At the end of the day, it is not about making millions of dollars. It is about making enough money to support your family. That is what Owen's death reminded everybody and why it was so emotional for even the guys who didn't know Owen that well. He was a good guy, wrestling to make enough money to retire early and be with his family.
@kannddaa What's really ironic is that the WWF promotors tried to talk owen into doing a angle where he would fall for the sex symbol Debra(who was 38 Freakin' years old at the TIME). Owen using common sense declined and said that he didn't want it to look like he was cheating on Martha every week. So he returned as the Blue Blazer and this happened.
i remember it, it broke my heart when i heard about it. ive been a WWF/E fan for life, and remember Owen when he debuted. Such life in him, wish he was still around. We all miss you Owen. Rest In Peace Brother!
is there a video of the fall becuse my friend said there was and then he wanted to show mw but it was not right to look at it si i dinet look at it RIP OWEN
Yes, it is just you because no McMahon is guilty of any thing. Law enforcement investigations and civil court proceedings proved conclusively that the only guilt in Owen's death was on the corrupt company that manufactured the defective harness that broke and killed Owen. It was the same company that made the harnesses when Sting used to do the same stunt, so it could have just as easily been Sting dead instead of Owen, but I bet unknowing smarks would not have blamed Turner and Bischoff .
Well if that is the case, how come it was WWF that paid the Hart Family $18million, and the harness company were dismissed from the case by the Hart Family????
The harness company was sued out of existence by Vince McMahon and out of the goodness of McMahon's heart he gave the greedy widow Martha $18 million of his winnings from the herness company. McMahon knew he could beat Martha in court, but it would be bad publicity, so he paid her off to go away. The Hart family never sued McMahon as all the Harts, except Bret and Martha, were dead against suing McMahon for what was clearly an accident. All the facts and investigations supported McMahon period
well youtube won't let me post the links to prove my point but if you go to the Owen Hart Wikipedia page and then go to cite notes 49 and 50, that will take you to the website of the law firm that represented the Hart family against the WWF. Martha Hart was awarded $10million, Owen's two children were awarded $3million each and Owen's parents were both awarded $1million. To call a greiving family greedy for wanting financial compensation for the negligent death of their loved one is sick.
You are a sick smark with your goofy McMahon conspiracy theories, so I will waste no more time with you since you clearly know nothing. When all you can use to back up your crap is unreliable Wiki you know you are weak. Federal, state, and local law enforcement all investigated as well as local and national media and they placed 0 blame on any McMahon for Owen's accident. McMahon's out of court settlement with the greedy widow contained no admission of guilt and no real Harts sued McMahon.
I'm using wikipedia citations which link to the website of a law firm. if you read what is said in the report from that firm you will see that the WWF settled with Martha Hart, Oje Hart (Owen's son and therefore a 'real' Hart), Athena Hart (Owen's daughter, therefore also a 'real' Hart), and Stu and Helen Hart (if they aren't real Harts then there is no such thing). You don't settle a case if you think you can win in a court. If you know you are going to lose, you cut your losses and settle.
I was going to ignore you and I will ignore you after this, but I had to mock you for your ignorance 1 last time. If "You don't settle a case if you think you can win in a court" as you say, then why did the greedy widow Martha settle out of court if she was sure to win (she sued for over $100 million)? Major companies settle out of court all the time nuissance suits like this that will cause bad publicity and court costs. Vince won over twice as much from the harness maker so he could afford it
@MRobert21 i would hardly say she was being greedy dude, her children had been denied there father, and the financial support he would have given.
I do agree with the point that it wasnt directly the WWFs fault, but the bottom line is it was the WWF who hired these people in the first place. I would be surprised if anyone would have acted any differant than she did, imagine the grief, anger and fear for the future she would have been going through
She was greedy and I have said all I have to say about the issue. Martha was fine financially because Owen saved every penny, McMahon was always going to make sure Owen's kids were taken care of as he does with Droz to this day, and Martha was shacked up with another guy shortly after Owen was in the ground. Martha and Bret forced senile Stu and Helen in to the law suit (Stu and Helen never saw a penny from it), which is why none of the Hart brothers and sisters talk to Martha or Bret any more
@Tornado1994 Yes, you are a flaming smark troll, hence you have nothing intelligent or on topic to say and you just type this gibberish, but I am glad you at least admitted it. I am glad you wrote this little slice of trash though because it gave me a reason to review these genius comments I made 4 months ago about the greedy widow Martha that have now been totally proven to the world by her most recent frivolous law suit that she is about to lose big on because she has no case at all.
an owen hart tribute video isnt the right place for this discussion, but now that you bring it up, bret hart had 1 month left on his WWF contract after survivor series. That's 4 weeks! You mean to tell me the WWF cant organize Bret losing or relinquishing his title on any one of those shows instead of his last appearance in his home country, against his arch rival (who told bret he would not lose to him if he was champion, when bret tells hbk that he is willing to lose to him)?
debra had imo th most heartfelt speech along with hhh and mark hnry's poem hit me hard--you know he was truly hurt--as was everybody else, but those 3 stood out for me the most, and stone cold and road dogg got me very choked up---austin showed his emotion to a guy who almost paralyzed him a couple years prior to this---that shows the respect he had for owen--you know austin never looked at owen the same after summerslam in 1997, but he knew owen was special---we miss you owen--rip always---
JR & Lawler at 7:12-8:00 had me choked up big time. Damn, I remember these two nights like yesterday and still has the same affect. Debra and Jarret's comments also got me. You can tell what a great guy he was. I wonder how Martha and his kids are these days.
I havnt watched this since it first aired on sky sports when i was a kid. When youre 8/9 years old you don't actually understand fully whats going on, to you its just a hero dying. When I watch this now and i realise that everybody there, all my childhood heroes are crying because they lost a truely great man its hard to watch. Thanks for the post dude.
you could see quite clearly at over the edge that taker may have been too broken up to do an interview, as with steve austin in this video, you can see that he got choked up and wanted to cry.
peace and light be with you and your family owen R.I.P.
@asnycnow15 Mark Calloway and Shawn Michaels flew to Calgary to console the Harts. Bret was also told by Michaels(who was at home in San Antonio and was crying on the phone the night it happened) that he would be willing to deliver the eulogy.
Owen Hart, how many hearts were broken the day you left us. Wrestling will never be the same without you. R.I.P. Owen James Hart and rest assured, you will always have a place in our hearts and memories.
When I saw this, I had tears in my eyes. The lost of a great superstars was something I can't believe to happen so soon. Owen was 34 years old. He was too young to die. Like all of you, I miss Owen and I wish he was still alive. RIP Owen Hart. We love you, we miss you and we will never forget you. Long live Owen Hart's soul and memories.
@mjhartlebury That is very true and though a short sentence, it's a very powerful one. No one is guaranteed tommorow and since at the drop of a hat, our world can be turned upside down, the biggest thing to remember is after all the BS, being shooken up, and occasionally those of us who have been around a bit having our worlds turned upside down, at the end of it all and when the dust clears, we are going to have a regrets and ask what if. Don't let the what if be What if I didn't say I love you
i remember that episode of raw. it wuz hard 2 swallow the fact that the wwf (aka wwe) lost one of their funniest superstars of all time. Long Live Owen Hart we will never forget u.
We, the fans, never got the chance to know you Owen. But...I hope you know and I'm sure you do, how much we still love you. A world full of greed and hatred, war, there is still love and 10 years have gone by and it could be 100, we will still love you. I write this with the same tears I had when I first heard the horrible news. I won't ever say goodbye, there is no goodbye.
it wuz an accident, it wuz not the wwe's fault, or owen's fault. nobody expected that 2 happen. she should b looking forward 2 meeting up with him again in heaven.
@matth13767 WWF is still guilty of incompetence. The rigging used for the stunt was deemed unsafe. It wasn't the same one he praticed with. Vince and the WWF are forever responsible for his death.
I agree that he probably wouldnt be wrestling... i think if he was here he and bret would have re-opened the dungeon and restarted Stampede Wrestling in Canada
I 100% agree with The king's comment to make sure that you let your loved ones know how you feel about them, because as in Owen's case he was unable to do that simple thing. Such a tragic accident. Rip Owen Hart!
To this day, I still don't understand why Val Venis was much bigger than he was in the WWE. Such an underrated wrestler as there ever will be for that company.
there is no more of a tear jerking comment than JR saying "ladies and gentleman all i can say about owen hart is that i hope i can be as good a man as him, so i can see him again, someday"
7:10 - 8:02 that was really sad... and when Austin came out what do you think he was saying?

debra had imo th most heartfelt speech along with hhh and mark hnry's poem hit me hard--you know he was truly hurt--as was everybody else, but those 3 stood out for me the most, and stone cold and road dogg got me very choked up---austin showed his emotion to a guy who almost paralyzed him a couple years prior to this---that shows the respect he had for owen--you know austin never looked at owen the same after summerslam in 1997, but he knew owen was special---we miss you owen--rip always---

JR & Lawler at 7:12-8:00 had me choked up big time. Damn, I remember these two nights like yesterday and still has the same affect. Debra and Jarret's comments also got me. You can tell what a great guy he was. I wonder how Martha and his kids are these days.
Tbone3471 2 years ago 5
I balled like a baby at Lawler and JR too. I just couldn't belive that Owen was gone. Damn Vince and that dumb Blue Blazer gimmick!

Thanks for the post dude.
evilgrungeboy98 2 years ago
you could see quite clearly at over the edge that taker may have been too broken up to do an interview, as with steve austin in this video, you can see that he got choked up and wanted to cry.
peace and light be with you and your family owen R.I.P.
IndianOutlaw0301 2 years ago
No interviews at all with taker or austin about Owen?

apparently taker was was at the hart family home that night. austin i dunno but the guy did break his neck once.

@masterpete24 Undertaker was friends with the Harts, and was in Canada
asnycnow15 1 year ago
@asnycnow15 Mark Calloway and Shawn Michaels flew to Calgary to console the Harts. Bret was also told by Michaels(who was at home in San Antonio and was crying on the phone the night it happened) that he would be willing to deliver the eulogy.

Long live Owen Hart's soul and memories.

what the king said was and still is true never ever leave home without saying i love you to the people you care about
mjhartlebury 2 years ago 76
@mjhartlebury That is very true and though a short sentence, it's a very powerful one. No one is guaranteed tommorow and since at the drop of a hat, our world can be turned upside down, the biggest thing to remember is after all the BS, being shooken up, and occasionally those of us who have been around a bit having our worlds turned upside down, at the end of it all and when the dust clears, we are going to have a regrets and ask what if. Don't let the what if be What if I didn't say I love you
SuperWarking 1 year ago
@mjhartlebury I never thought a comment would be the most liked comment on a video. Thanks people :D

I won't ever say goodbye, there is no goodbye.

it wuz an accident, it wuz not the wwe's fault, or owen's fault. nobody expected that 2 happen. she should b looking forward 2 meeting up with him again in heaven.
matth13767 2 years ago 3
Yeah, however wether you want to admit it or not,the WWE was negligible in the preparation of the stunt.
bkraven191 2 years ago
@matth13767 WWF is still guilty of incompetence. The rigging used for the stunt was deemed unsafe. It wasn't the same one he praticed with. Vince and the WWF are forever responsible for his death.

kinggaga2009 2 years ago
I don't think he would still be wrestling to be honest, he always expressed that he wanted to retire in a couple of years back at around 98/99.
There's no doubt in my mind they would have given him a title run out of respect if they had the chance.
WesFR 2 years ago
I agree that he probably wouldnt be wrestling... i think if he was here he and bret would have re-opened the dungeon and restarted Stampede Wrestling in Canada

Normally I love stone cold for being so crass mean, loudmouthed and his general Redneckery.
but just showing class like that, giving a toast and "leaving that one beer" that was differnt and i respect Stone Cold even more.

I 100% agree with The king's comment to make sure that you let your loved ones know how you feel about them, because as in Owen's case he was unable to do that simple thing. Such a tragic accident. Rip Owen Hart!
