I use China Glaze and Orly. For me, as long as you properly use a base coat and top coat, and you thoroughly clean your nails and hands prior to polishing them, it lasts a week. The only reason why mine doesn't is because I'm ready for a polish change.

Try using Sally Hansen Diamond Strength .

Ok, u dont really have to buy a certain brand. And u dont have to buy the fancy one. I paint my nails when they need to be repainted(which is like in 3 weeks, because they grow out... yea 3 weeks), and what I do is I rough up my nails with a nail file and I just slap some paint on them. Sometimes a top shiny coat cause I have some that are laquers and arent shiny. But also, I work with food(with gloves) and I wash my hands like constantly by doing dishes and stuff. MINE NEVER COMES OFF!

And what I mean by 3 weeks isss thats how long my nail polish stays, with the way I do it... even doing a lot of things with my hands it will stay on. Its kind of like when u have to paint furniture, and u have to sand the wood first so that the stain will stick. I use like NYC and/or WET N WILD, with a Sally Hansen clear top coat.

Thanks Pursebuzz! I hadn't heard of China Glaze until this vid. I renewed my card @ Sally's Beauty Store. Thanx to their "Buy 2 get 1 Free" sale, I purchased Jamaican Out (which is orange-ish). What amazed me is that I only needed one coat. I also bought Coconut Kiss (which is a purple) and Pink Voltage (Neon). I can't wait to use those later. =) I also bought a Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and I really liked it. I use Sally Hansen's Color Wear Maximum Adhesion Base Coat & it kinda works.

When I used Zoya or China Glaze nail polish it worked but not cheaper drug store nail polish. I found a great base coat called no more wraps at CVS or Bed, Bath and Beyond that seems to work without any top coat. I am using it right now with a cheap polish, the top coat and hurry up drops and there's not a chip after several days. I like that combo best.

Thanks for the review -- even tho I wear rubber gloves to do dishes and housework, my nail polish always chips after one day. No more! This kit truly works great - and the polish rejuvenator in the kit made my years-old polish as good as new. Just one drop, and the polish is just like new. Thank you sooo much for the fantastic tip!

Just from what I've heard... it's best to stick to light colors when the nails are short. But with so many beautiful dark colors out there... who can resist??? Give one a try and you be the judge. =) Good luck!!!

that's weird, i've heard that the shorter your nails, the darker you go and vice versa.

I think that a lighter color is better for short nails... Look at it this way... darker colors bring too much attention to the nail and makes it's size very obvious... whereas, the lighter color fools the eye into thinking that the nail appears to be longer. (Even in clothing "Dark" is "sliming" and "Light" does the opposite... I think the same applies to painting the walls of a room)But anyhow... that's just my humble opinion. One should wear whatever color they are in the mood for. =)

I work in a hardware store so I use my nails a lot with taking off price stickers, opening boxes, etc, etc, and I often get packing tape stuck to my nails, so after about a day I get a lot of chipping going on with my nails. It's been a couple days since I put the NYX polish on, and it's amazing because I have no chipping AT ALL.

i just use orly bonder rubberized base coat and seche vite dry fast top coat, together they cost $15 at sally beauty supply and do the exact same thing. my cheap polish lasts all week, and the top coat doubles as that quick dry drop thing she used...your nails will be dry in like five minutes even with 3, 4, 5 coats.

whenever i have a nail polish that isnt thick enough and i have to do multiple numbers of coats, i apply like 3 coats but i find when it dries that since it is so thick that i can peel all of the color off at once and it just doesnt work at all. Do you know why this is?
