This is one of my favourite Micron tunes. I first hear it a couple years ago, and it was one of the ones that prompted me to get a Micron to make some music for my Xbox game. It's not as good, but I did upload it to my channel yesterday. I still come back to listen to this and other Micron tunes now and then. I need to make a good playlist. Please keep making tunes like this!
I'm an old dude. Use to play a band called Rainbow, and I just happen to run into you. I want a small and powerful synth, and wa-la, seems I found it.
Wow, that was so..................well to be honest Im kinda speechless! How much you buy this awesomeness for? Cause I have a mircoKorg at the moment and I saw this and now I want!!1
I JUST GOT THE SYNTH AND I LOVE IT... WHAT BRAND OF HEADPHONES WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR RECORD IN PERSONAL STUDIO!?(HOPE THEY ARE NO SO EXPENSIVE IM BETWEEN 150 -200 DLS.)
Unfortuneatly you're obviously a one hit wonder. One of the best instrumentals of any kind I've ever heard and then nothing else ????? Maybe you just got lucky or you shot your load and that's all that will ever be heard from you. At any rate, a goddamn beautiful piece and I'll find a way to always keep this around. Let's hope you're moved in such a way again some day,
Wow, i like it very much. Today i went to our local "MusicStore Cologne" an bought one Micron for playing around with it. It is my first Synthie and i hope i got a lot of fun with it.
Verryy nice mate :D i have a microkorg Xl and a moog little phatty stage II, Its good but i was wondering if you would reccomend me adding that to my rig?
-Can you use it with a P.A. system as well as your computer?
-Did you make the drum beats? Thank you very much! :) ur vidoes are very helpful to a newbie such as myself and i would like if you answered my questions.
Awesome demo i was considering this as my next purchase now im pretty sure ive made up my mind. tunes great mate reminds me of Metroid Prime if you have heard of it same notes same synth sounds thumbs up!
@KaslarProductions The pitch bender is very easy to use and easy to get used to, especially since you can edit the range of pitch bend. Besides I like the fact that it glows
@KaslarProductions The pitchbender automatically returns to the center position as soon as you release it and you can edit the bend range to the maximum of a full octave up or down or anything in between. You can also assign different pitch bend ranges for each oscillator.
I understand that it returns to the center, and i understand you can edit range... but what i mean is can you assign the pitch bend to only go up a full step and only go down an full octave on the same setting? cause when i play I like to bend down an octave but i don't want to bend UP an octave.... can you assign two different ranges like that?
This question has already been asked but im in a bit of a hurry to check so i apologise if thats the case but does this keyboard have any sort of computer editor software with it?
Quick question, I'm using a Kaoss Pro but on the look out for a drum machine/microKorg XL, but I don't have the cash at the mo', would this be the next best thing for me? Does it surpass the XL? Is the sequenced bass is done with this unit? Cheaper the better at the moment...
Do you need An amp to play a synth? Cause like. Im thinking about getting one. And i dont know how they work. Like. Do you need batteries. An amp. A computer. Anything like that. Please help. Thanks.
@faustoid45 you can get a keyboard amplifier, which looks similar to a guitar amp but has a much wider and flatter frequency response, or you can use use some phono leads and plug it into a home stereo system (you might need an adapter to convert jack to phono, depends on the synth).
@faustoid45 You need an amp, headphones or a connection to your stereo system. You can forget running the micron on batteries, it needs a 9V AC (!) adapter capable of a sustained output current of 1.5 Ampere, but that is included. The Micron is a cool little synth, but a real energy gulper.
you cant. MicroKorg is fully digital. This is a ripped off version of the Alesis ION, which is the best VA synth ever. MicroKorg is for complete amateurs... and I won't even mention the keys on it... such a toy.
@CybertechProject well... its not exactly a ripped off version, but it is essentially the ION(same sound engine) only severely reduced in size and minus a couple of keys on the keyboard and most of the real time controllers. Afaik the micron features a newly designed step sequencer, that the ION didn't have.
they are both really good. some say the microkorg is easier to navigate, others say the micron is more powerful. but they are both very sonicly different. you should listen to each, try them if you can and pick which one suits your style
Yeah listen to what swpett said. For my band we we're looking for another to synth to add with my yamaha csx1 (woo old school! :P) but we ended up going with the microkorg. Micron is nice, very powerful, but microkorg is definitely easier to navigate. Only bad part for some people is the keys of the microkorg and you get a vocoder :] but yeah just try them out and see what sounds catch your attention and how comfortable you feel with the synths.
Funny I came to this video and saw your comment Fun4est. I bought a Micron a few months ago and was just cruising Micron videos watching other people do their thing and saw that you mentioned having a Yamaha CS1x. I've got one too. Woot !!!
MicroKorg has a much more Enter Shikari style tone in it thats easily programable. Micron is more of a different style. Very differnt from each other though.
Hahah true... I think I can make one out in their Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour vid,.. Im not 100% positive, but Im pretty sure they at least used one back then..... I know they're big into the Electribe EMX-1...
And the KAOSS Pad.
Considering both of those are Korg... Ill bet they had a microkorg.
between this and the micron latenight jam it definetly helped me make a decision between microkorg and micron, of course i researched more indepth but hearing what they can do really helps in the decision process
I have an Alesis. ive been watching this video for a while. and i finally learned this. you did exellent on this. I tried out for a local band around here. and i used this. and i got in so thanks alot!!!!
would this be a good starter synth this is exactly the kind of style im looking to make and was wondering if i should find somthing else for a starter
please, for the love of god, tell me what preset you started on!!
its soo nice!!
i need to get me one of these. a friend has the microKORG, and this Micron just seems sooo much better. dont get me wrong, the microKORG is a really nice peice of equipment, but i just need this micron!!
hmm im thinking about getting one of these.. cant choose between this or the MicroKorg one.. about the same price. but im new to all this.. hmmmm help?
Micron takes some getting used to as far as programming goes (you can always just use presets if you're not that into making your own noises). From what I've played on the MicroKorg, its simpler to just twiddle knobs due to the accessible knobs, but those mini keys just kill it for me.
In short, Micron if you're confident in synthesis, MK if you're just starting and wanting to try your hand at synthesizing.
Ah you're right I forgot about that. Yeah Micron is more of a workstation I suppose. Sorry, I'm new to synthesis as well but take it from me, even if I don't know what every filter, LFO, oscillator, etc does, I'm very happy with my Micron!
Oh, yeah ... I'm getting a Micron as soon as I can get the cash together!
The lack of control knobs looks like a pain but there's a few programs available to edit sounds via PC. A $6 MIDI to USB cable should be a good investment...
Hey man, I just sold my Dr-880 and am thinking about geting one of these. Is it just a glorified keyboard? Do I need a computer to use it? I currently record into a MicroBR 4 track.
no it's not really just a glorified keyboard... i'd say it's more like a sequencer except with emphasis on keys instead of knobs.. can't really record one loop then let it play while you record another though which is one of the funnest parts about sequencing.. What do you think of the MicroBR? I'm saving up to buy a recorder now, i'm leaning towards it or the tascam gt-r1 or just a laptop since I already have a line 6 1/4"-to USB box
I've been wanting to get a synth somewhat like this. I've always been upsessed with the mini-moog, the old korgs and oberheims and all that. How does this synth stand as an imitation of those old analogs? versus the eclectronica/techno type of sound
It has a few filters that are actually based off the oberheims and moogs, as well as alesis specific filters. As with any synths that aren't one trick ponies, you can get close to those sounds.

With MicroKorg you'll also need a separate drum machine, etc. MicroKorg is more for use as a lead synth.

This is a great sound!
The micron is a pretty cool machine - you´ve done very well!

Hey man, I just sold my Dr-880 and am thinking about geting one of these. Is it just a glorified keyboard? Do I need a computer to use it? I currently record into a MicroBR 4 track.
Thanks.

You don't need a computer, you can do this with only Micron.

no it's not really just a glorified keyboard... i'd say it's more like a sequencer except with emphasis on keys instead of knobs.. can't really record one loop then let it play while you record another though which is one of the funnest parts about sequencing..

How does this synth stand as an imitation of those old analogs? versus the eclectronica/techno type of sound
himtroy 2 years ago
It has a few filters that are actually based off the oberheims and moogs, as well as alesis specific filters. As with any synths that aren't one trick ponies, you can get close to those sounds.
