I used to "hate" this music as a teenager back then when anything psychedelic seemed good. However I cannot deny myself, unconsciously I liked Ray Conniff and his group but just didn't want to let my peers know it. Some 40 yrs later, the feeling is still the same. Hearing this again brings back a rush of memories!

One of my FAVORITE memories from childhood. I STILL have the LP and have to convert it to an mp3 before something happens to it. It will be priceless to have the "pops" in the spots where I am used to them. Wouldn't trade that album for anything. Just the other day at work (I am 42) and I was singing, "My name is Michael, I got a nickel...I got a nickel shiny and new. I'm gonna buy me all kinds of candy, that's what I'm gonna do!" My coworkers know I'm NUTS! LOL I work in a factory!

I grew up listening to Ray Conniff. Even when I was too small to stand, I would sit in front of my mothers huge oak stereo and listen while lost in the glow of the electron tubes in the back. When the album would end, I would sit there and cry until my mother would start the album over. I think Ray Conniff is just as good as it can possibly get. . .

Ray Coniff now and has always rmeinded me of my late Father who loved their records. I recently acquired a copy of their 1967 Christmas Show on DVD. I learned that the woman on the far right of this video is the one that you can hear singing so high. I've always loved a choir with a high woman singer like her. Awesome group.

I am very sorry to know that. I saw your grand mother on stage many times in Europe and in Brazil and we listen to her recordings and videos almost everyday. What a superb singer she was and what a lovely lady. We met her at the Opera House in São Paulo and had a long chat with her.

No more singers like Jackie, who will always be unforgetable. Her voice was unique.

During the early 70's on the small singer ensemble recordings, Ray employed a group of studio singers, who in the music business trade were known as the "Ron Hicklin Singers". This group of singers are considered the most recorded voices in history to this day, and perhaps the most widely heard, yet anonymous, studio vocal group in the world. Ray would have had a "vocal contractor" (e.g., Jay Meyer, Gene Merlino, Dave Thibeault) put these groups together for him.

@chersch5 Only the technicians, stage crew and perhaps a few friends in the studio when these were taped as "inserts" to the David Frost Show. Such is the nature of television production.  Ray was on his British tour at the time in 1973 and playing to large audiences throughout Britain.

For there were not singers like Loulie Jean Norman and jackie Allen anymore. After Jackie left the chorus, the sound, his sound changed completely because replacing a top soprano like her he would need to contract five "normal sopranos".
