  • obviously we have a major malfunction.

  • doh, US dont have right stuff anymore, might as well buy it from china like we buy everything else.

  • @vh90278 actually the rate of failure used to be much higher. we have had 10 years of near 100 percent success in rocket launches. I'd say that as far as space technology, we naturally always getting better. That is one thing we won't be buying from the chinese, who are trying to hack into our system to steal our tech ip secrets 1000 times a day.

  • So that is how you blow through a billion bucks in 1 minute. :)

    LIKE A BOSS!!!

  • "Oh no." Understatement, yes, but I think it sums it up. Not as elegant as the Delta II that showered the pad with solid fuel or as tragic as the Challenger explosion, but still an, "Oh no." kind of moment.

  • "America's silent hero", "last flight of..." then explodes? Grade B movie scriptwriting.

  • Press 7..........

  • Buddy fucks up on the count down. There's that great American education showing itself once again. He didn't even say "We have experienced an anomaly of the Titan IV-A" LOL!!!

  • $1.1 billion firework. Almost watched this one live, just didn't feel like driving 3 hours to watch it that day. Too bad, one of the biggest blow-ups ever! This looked a LOT cooler from the overhead view.

At the time, they said the range safety officer manually destroyed the rocket after it had deviated too much from the flight path. From the overhead view, you could see it start pitching down and after a few degrees it blows, probably at that point it was about to break up anyway.

  • "Let's get outta here!!"

  • At 0:56 i Understand "Oh lol" ...

  • 0:58 Cameraman! Zoom out! Zoom out!!

  • I like how the announcer says "4, 3...2,1".

  • OK so here's where I'm supposed to press the red button...

    "Oh no."

  • What caused it to explode?

  • Now THAT'S a firework worth waiting for xD

  • Better to go out with a BANG than with a whimper. In this case. :)

  • Tat waz epic...... i wounder if usama bin laden waz behind thiz? Hum...

  • Ka-boom! Good to go out with a bang, don't you think?

  • "Did you hit that Red Button?"

  • "Oh no." 0:53

  • I watched this live on TV and was only around 40 miles from where it happened.

  • Nice fireworks... A tad expensive, but nice none the less.

  • Mission Control guy 1: What is this rocket carrying again?

Mission Control guy 2: A billion dollar top secret sattelite

Mission Control guy 1: THERE IS A NON EXISTENT PROBLEM SELF DESTRUCT

  • Oh No!!

    LMFAO!!!

That would make a spectacular 4th of July show!!! LOL

  • Oh no!

    LMFAO!! Oops!

  • I'm getting one of these for New year's eve!

  • More American junk!

  • @philglassfan I read this with a Russian accent and now I am ashamed. ._.

  • was this going to like bomb the russians??

  • @McChuugy

naw it was putting up a satellite in space

  • u all dumb ! it goes hyperspaceeee :P

  • lol. I love this guy. He is so enthusiastic at the beginning and then at the end, he's like ".....oh no..."

  • beautiful fireworks ^^

  • Hmmm, this guy didn't seem to notice the rocket going off course like the other video states. Nor does he seem to notice any self destruct commands being given. Actually, he sounds quite shocked. Odd that the launch controller (if that's what he is) would not realize any of that stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • R u talking about the "Titan IV Explosion at Cape Canaveral 8-20-98 (High Definition)"?

Because one of the highest voted comments of that vid states that the facts were all wrong.

A short circuit caused an outage of the guidance computer, which made it lose it's orientation relative to the earth. When it came back up it issued a pitch down command, which put it in an angle it wasn't built for. Causing a SRB to separate, rocket initiates self destruct. Flight control sent one 2 seconds afterwards

  • @bweazel Who said it was a launch controller. I think it was more of a spectator.

  • It was the last Titan 4A, Titan 4B flew until 2005.

  • "This is the final Titan 4 to be flown...."

    You got that right!!! LOLOLOL!!

    DAMN!!!

  • Now that's what I call a spectacular firework. The last Titan IV went with a BANG

  • expensive fireworks.. :')
