@vh90278 actually the rate of failure used to be much higher. we have had 10 years of near 100 percent success in rocket launches. I'd say that as far as space technology, we naturally always getting better. That is one thing we won't be buying from the chinese, who are trying to hack into our system to steal our tech ip secrets 1000 times a day.
"Oh no." Understatement, yes, but I think it sums it up. Not as elegant as the Delta II that showered the pad with solid fuel or as tragic as the Challenger explosion, but still an, "Oh no." kind of moment.
That camera must have been some way away.. As you still hear the engines running long after the explosion, with the film finishing before the explosion was heard...
what a cheap ass rocket. lol i could by a better one at a supermarket in the fireworks section for about 5 bucks! at least would save the tx payers money and would of worked well too
Buddy fucks up on the count down. There's that great American education showing itself once again. He didn't even say "We have experienced an anomaly of the Titan IV-A" LOL!!!
$1.1 billion firework. Almost watched this one live, just didn't feel like driving 3 hours to watch it that day. Too bad, one of the biggest blow-ups ever! This looked a LOT cooler from the overhead view.
At the time, they said the range safety officer manually destroyed the rocket after it had deviated too much from the flight path. From the overhead view, you could see it start pitching down and after a few degrees it blows, probably at that point it was about to break up anyway.
I had thinked a proposal of realisation to one universal vehicle, good on Earth but and in cosmos. The source of energy is a thermonuclear controlled reactor, and the traction is realized through a set of reactive electromagnetic motors. The realization of these, impose a revision and elucidation to some parts from the actual science, which is strangled of the theoretical physics with a series of metaphysical laws and principles.

Because one of the highest voted comments of that vid states that the facts were all wrong.
A short circuit caused an outage of the guidance computer, which made it lose it's orientation relative to the earth. When it came back up it issued a pitch down command, which put it in an angle it wasn't built for. Causing a SRB to separate, rocket initiates self destruct. Flight control sent one 2 seconds afterwards
obviously we have a major malfunction.
