  • approx 200,000 died in both bombs in Japan. Estimates of 2 million dead if we had sent in ground troops instead. Also, Japan had a very developed nuclear bomb program & had already exploded a test version in Korea. Germany was sending all of their technology with blueprints and even sent 1,200 lbs of Uranium to Japan which was intercepted at sea when Germany surrendered. If we would not have dropped the bomb, Japan had plans to do so to us already, If that uranium had gotten through

  • @SuperDanerz Japan had NO nuclear programme and Germans were years away from being able to produce a weapon, by 1945 they had got nowhere. Their heavy water supply in Norway kept being destroyed by SOE and the RAF.

  • The guy whos been killing so many people just laughing trough the whole interview.

  • @meetman3 yeah fuck hirohito for not surrendering and kill their own people

  • Dutch Van Kirk does not regret have completed his mission because he cannot. He is a soldier and he has been trained to obey orders. He is the perfect result of a US army training. Part of his human nature is blocked or lost. No remorse, no tears, cold blood. Yes Van Kirk , you deserve all those medals. No doubt.

  • Thank you Dutch. You are a true American and i wish you many more happy years

  • alright another interview

  • A generation who knew how to get the job done. Bravo! The best move we ever made during WWII........

  • How do you think the Japanese felt about Pearl Harbor? Eye for an eye, the United States always counter-attacks with a bigger blow, and every other country is the same way if they get the chance.

  • Some of the comments made towards him in the interview weren't neccissary. This guy did his job, war is evil, get over it. Hiroshima was just another piece of war history. He served his country and he was proud, some may not agree but if a guy with a gun is a hero, a guy navigating a bomb is the same. Things are different now then they were then, it was looked at like a great accomplishment, and it was, it took Japan out of the war. Regardless of how many people died, it was still a success.

  • Did you see how this old man showed no emotion regarding the Super Mass Murder of thousands of human being?..saying after they dropped the bomb he return home celebrating! and thoght nothing of it. This is pure Evil):

and Prejudise" how could anybody kill people like playing golf.

  • @globehunter2

It's called war. The biggest and deadliest war in the history of mankind, and he played a major part in ending it

  • A great continuation of a great interview with a great guy.

  • @jamesjeffreypaul

    completely agree.

Was much different kinda video than I expected, but pleasantly so.

Poster, just an fyi you would prob get more views with a better / more descriptive title

  • The fire bombs did, indeed, kill many more people than the a-bombs, but take into consideration that the Japanese were afraid that unconditional surrender, which is what America called for, could have meant the loss of their Emperor. Someone, whose name slips my mind, suggested calling for the military's surrender, but leaving the Emperor in his place, because that would have probably gotten them to surrender. However, Truman wouldn't do this.

  • poor old farth... him and his little crew´s gonna have to face trial for all those deaths when his old ass goes away.

  • i dont know if it was a good or bad thing dropping the a bomb but i am sure he regrets having to kill all those women and children anyone would with a heart would i guess

  • 3) The first bomb did not break the Japanese high command's determination to fight, that is why a second bomb was dropped. If you don't believe me read Toshikazu Kase's book he was there.

    4) and finally Mr2046 is Australian not an American

  • Machetazo: A few of things you should take into consideration.

    1) The Japanese started the war against the Americans.

    2) The towns on which the bombs where dropped where small and the number of casualties were RELATIVELY small, compared to other bombing raids throughout WWII.

  • "Uuuhhl it was to save lives" HOW BOUT YOU JUST GO THE FUCK BACK TO EUROPE AND TAKE THAT PIECE OF SHIT COLONY AMERICA BACK WITH YOU! THAT....saves lives, stupid muthafucka.

  • Always in colonial hegemony... those people try to rewrite histpry for a sympathetic reading, to redefine the notions of common sense. The "bad, weak them, the good, victorious us." Little do the socio-isolationist americans know, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES ON THIS PLANET who see themselves as such. Quite a small, visually contorted percentage.

  • HE ADMITTED WHY...it was a TERRORIST attack on a CIVILIAN city... ABSOLUTELY NO ENEMY FIRE TO THE PLANE,"We didn't see anything to cause us any concern"...FUKIN TERRORIST.I'm GLAD YOU'RE DEAD.Muthafucka.

  • Yeaaaaah muthafucka why didnt you go back to Hiroshima since then? SCARED that you might get your muthafuckin WIG PUSHED BACK BY SOMEONE THERE? Stupid fuck. Paul tibbet just died yesterday. When are YOU gonna DIE?Pig.

  • If the Japanese wanted to fight to the last one 2 bombs would not have prevented that. This is a myth the american public is fed, so people can easily accept what happened without ever questioning the motives. Live anywhere outside the US and you won't learn this bullshit in text books. The fact is those 2 bombs had more to do with geopolitical motives and the start of the cold war. The US wanted to push off the russian who were already making their move into north japan.

  • There's nothing great about exterminating an entire civilian population. Sadam was hanged for that. Depending on whether you are on the winners or losers side of history war crimes can be heroic acts or viceversa. ONe never has to look back as long as he's not judges by others, but people need to live their life according to how they truly feel, deep down.

  • I wasn't sure what I'd think when watching this, as I have very strong opinions on the issue of the Atomic Bomb, but it's impossible not to respect the guy. He seems like a fully decent sort of guy.

  • A mass murderer? ..."fully decent guy"? You sure are "american".

  • Definitely one of the Greatest Generation.

Do the job and move on.

  • This guy is a straight shooter.

  • what can u say wow

  • Truely the greatest generation!
