Maybe the US is different, but here the only people allowed to park at a mailbox are the Mail Pick Up vans.

In Manhattan most letter carriers are on foot and pick-up and drop-off mail into "relay boxes" which is actually what that 'mail box' in the video is.

I guess at some point a truck has to come by to pick up/drop off mail into the relay box, but that only takes a couple seconds so they can double-park if necessary.
