solid state rectifier folks thats how all these little new low wattage TUBE amps are not still 1500 bucks like the PRS sweet 16 or a dr z or matchless low wattage amp. Using the solid state rectifier cuts the cost and doesnt effect the tone to bad. All I know is I have two tube amps and the blackstar has a preamp tube and a power amp tube and sounds great!
@JDOwens1978 With a PRS or Dr Z you pay an insane markup/premium for the brand name. Adding a tube rect. doesn't up the cost that much. Plus those amps are made in the US, this is made overseas.

Nope, it has op-amps (solid state components) so I guess you could call it a hybrid amp. Its not all valve and if you ever played a valve amp compared to this you would realise it sounds and reacts nothing like a pure valve amp.
It isn't 50/50 at all. It's a tube amp. Many tube amps these days use solid state components in some place or other. Don't get hung up on the technicalities
Your talking crap. Have you even seen the inside of one of these? Its not a tube amp at all. Its just marketed that way to get fools like you to buy it.
I see many companies are now gettin 5W tube amps and I think is a nice solution for home use. You can gett it smoking without being too loud.
I have a 100W tube half stack and a 50 tube combo , putting it to 1third or half volume respectively and the paint start to melt from the walls. Cheers fo the nice presentation.
the gain is digital? or tube gain?
what's the ISF switch? digital amp modelling?

Chris: Again retard, it's not diode clipping...it's tube clipping

Chris: You obviously know nothing about amps.

No, your stupid Swedish amp tech is full of shit. It's all tube. 12ax7 pre-amp and a 12b-something for the power amp.
theblackkat101 2 years ago
and diode clipping. Your an idiot.

Strat's definately the way to go. Sounds like you are playing super loud but you're not.

which is better this amp or the marshall mg15 style amp like this
theboywhocantollie 2 years ago
If your talking about the Marshall MG4 series MG15, then this is definitely better. That marshall is solid state where the HT5 is all tube.

no its not, its solid state with tubes.
christhekiwi12 2 years ago
No, I think your thinking of the valvestate amps which are hybrid. The MG series is solid state all the way through.
Either way, the HT5 is much better.

All the ht5 is is the ht dual pedal in an amp. Its not a pure valve amp.
christhekiwi12 2 years ago
It's an all valve amp, but with a solid state rectifier.

I read that solid state components are NOT used for clipping the signal in the HT-5.

There is more diode clipping than preamp gain. So what you heard was wrong.
christhekiwi12 2 years ago
You have no idea what you're talking about. It's a tube amp and it sounds like one. So kindly fuck off ya troll

Actually, the HT-5 isnt all tube.
Its 50% solid-state, 50% tube in the preamp.
Still sounds pretty much all tube though.

Well, thats what i got told from a Swedish amp-tech.
Never said anything that it was something bad though!
I love this amp.. i have a Randall RM100 with modules worth roughly 2000$ new, and im honestly digging the Blackstar more.

This two part series is a good review on this amp. The celestion speaker definately has good tones on the clean channel.

can you put up some sounds with the same guitar and amp using the neck pickup?
DaveMacara89 2 years ago
Yeah, Ill try to this weekend. You want the MIA Strat in position 1 with high gain?
