That was the most tragic moment in the history of mankind. A young police officer was killed by this so called 'maniac' thief who stole the idling snow plow truck. Just a question, wasn't there other officers or police cruiser or was he following alone? The courage of Sgt. Ryan Russel in trying to stop from an illegal act is worth commendable and all the police personnel should take a lesson from him. Do not let criminals out there disturbing peace loving citizens' life. RIP Sgt. Ryan Russel!
@tomofcalgary maybe learn your facts before speaking! The people that showed up to his funerla wanted to be there most were there on their own time and dime. The only thing that was paid for was the actual funeral that the family so greatfully shared with everyone. He deserves all the respect he got and the least we tax payers could do was pay the little amount we did for his funeral considering he gave us more, 11 years of protection and his life!
Everyone that showed up to the funeral wanted to be there and the thousands that watched it. Paying for his actual funeral that his family was so thoughtful to shared with us was the least we could do and can even come close to the cost it cost him which was his life for you!
You guys have no respect and are complete idiots, yours cop haters really think about how long you would last on this earth with out them. How about what they go through everyday dealing with people like you. The G20 give me a break maybe if people knew how to act they police would not of had to defend themselves in the first place. Maybe walk in their shoes before posting such crap because that is what it is and your opinion means nothing. cont.......
Although my condolences go to his family and friends, he was not a hero. Just a constable doing what constables do and for what they get paid. Sgt. Russel made a very bad move that cost him his life. Making such big news out of this just shows how much taxpayers money got wasted and how fast this country turns into a police state.
This country is just in shock over police brutality and we havn,t recovered from the G-20 summit yet.I been viewing numerous videos over the past week like the RCMP officer kicking Buddy Tavares in the head in Kelowna and all the Toronto G-20 summit videos on Youtube. If you watch enough of those police brutality videos, you become a cop hater really quik.If the police didn,t treat us like crap they way they all do , they might regain our support.
Regardless of your own personal opinions of police officers, at the end of the day, this man was a husband, a son, a friend and a father. Cops save hundreds of lives each day and try to make the world a better place, a safer place for your children or your siblings, parents and neighbours. My heart and my thoughts are with his family. RIP
I really don't get why you're all arguing... A man died today in a terrible way; being stuck by a snow plow as he was trying to stop it... Can't you show some respect?
What makes me sratch my head is why do the Police consider them vulnerable or think their job is supposedly dangerous! He is the first out of 6,000 Toronto officers that had died in the line of duty in over 10 years. The firefighters countless due to cancers from toxic smoke inhalation from risking their life,The miners lose countless from dust inhalation and being trapped underground,CONSTRUCTION WORKERS lose more workers 1000 fold in a year than a couple so called lawibiding officers do.
@tallcanadiano I feel the same way you do...Someone should ask the chief if there is a "fabricated" video tape (like he says) on this crime like the one at G20. People are tired of cops and there corrupt superiors.
I sent condolences to my buddy who spent 3 days in Jail for being downtown Toronto during the G20..cops (these HEROS) laughed at him and myself. We were there looking for a music venue and he ended up in jail for not having ID.
@jacofan yea, that's really comparable to losing your life. This sergeant had a two year old that is now left without a father. Not even comparable by a long shot. Yea, I agree the whole G20 this was bogus. Firstly, not ALL police officers are bad. Secondly, put things into perspective sheesh! The man lost his life in the line of duty. Have some respect.
@Loverleezack - I don't respect anybody who makes money oppressing other people. If it is wrong, you don't do it. Period. I don't care for any cop..period. Don't need them, don't want them...ever under any circumstances. If we weren't such an under armed nation of pussies, we could defend our own family and property. Study some law and see for yourself the big scam that is the legal society and how they pull the wool over the eyes of the sheep who don't care to read and learn for themselves.
Respond to this video...- just love all of the little boys coming out of the wood work to voice their views on things they know nothing about. Grow up and fill out and after starting your own family, then I might engage you in debate. Until then..you're still wet behind the ears

@jacofan i agree that the whole g20 was over policed
i feel that if they didnt have barricades of cops in swat outfits
;instead had norm cops here and there it wouldnt have progressed as much
then had the swat not in sight, it would have gone better
alot of people showed up just to watch.
overall tho, they should have hosted somewhere more reasonable..
how about a place that was designed to be secure instead of securing something like torontos heart
i can think of atleast 5places
8Zeitgeist 1 year ago
@jacofan but since it was hosted there, your a dumbass for going there
you know that things had the potential to escalate, im not even sure you werent hoping for it.
people in group are idiots
they do stuff they ordinarily wouldnt do,
classic example is youtube
people say stuff they ordinarly would not say
that being said your an idiot.
