If you research VietNam/US history as far back as 1919, your opinion, like mine, might change.In1945,end of WW2,HoChiMinh asked Pres.Truman to support a free democracy in VN.At that time Ho was seeking to have close ties w/US. Truman instead supported France and,in so doing,we became a hostile aggressor,w/France,against the VN-ese fighting their War of Independence. There was no N&SVietNam at this time. That artifical line was drawn by the UN,not the VietN-ese.
My heart aches for Vets from the Vietnam war......for WW2 vets...and all the soldiers that continue to fight for us and those that have died in the present war......
LOL, I can't believe some guy was wearing a white 'dicky; or whatever we called those neck collars, in the field. Must have been a REMF making some video for back home. His boots & uniform were just too clean. Other than that, I enjoyed the video. But some of these comments are unbelievable such as the fellow wanting to talk about cod5 and those still upset with troops who just did their duty. Ease up, guys, we didn't set the policy. We just did our job and then came home. There it is.
I returned in 1971 from VN served with the 173rd Airborne, got three "welcome homes" and no "thanks for servings" but I would have done it all over anyway. That isn't why we (or at least I) volunteered. I am now 60 and am proud of our military and all who served.
obliquewright - I am third Generation Marine. My father served WWII, Korea, Nam, My Older Brother - Nam bronze star & PH, and myself, I lost Dad "Gunny" in 88 to AO, I lost my brother last March to the same, now I fight an unknown aggressive neuropathy linked to AO and hope to have the time left to see what the big deal will be with 12/12/12. I hope your husband had fought for and won his VA benefits, I pray his passing was painless. We all died there, some of us just dont know it yet.
I lost my husband to Agent Orange two years ago. He graduated from college and got his draft letter the same day. He was unaware that he had options. He suffered all his life from the effects of Agent Orange. Our son has a disability that is linked back to this chemical. Please don't make judgments about the soldiers who fought in the war. I am a widow and it pains me to read these negative comments
I feel the intervention is the greatest gun in cod5. i undeniably appreciate search & destroy on this weapon. i really clean up the enemy base and blow all of them away while i employ this weapon! everyone got the most up-to-date map pack yet? it's fabulous i have only just downloaded it by mw2forfreeZinfo (replace Z with . ) the other week personally
@Sheamus1187: Don't like to disagree , but it was a draw in Korea, lost in 'Nam, waste of lives in Iraq, Afghanistan is a waste also. Now we are getting involved in Libya....guess how that is going to turn out?
@wynsplc we didn't loose in Vietnam. The South Vietnamese army did. read your history the country didn't fall for almost a year after we left. The same thin is going to happen when we leave the middle east.
@wheelholder12 Thank you for your comment but I have to disagree. You state that I should read history, well, I was there while that history was made... the country fell the day we were pushed out...remember the photos of people trying to claw their way on a copter as it was leaving the roof of the US embassy while the North Vietnamese where over running the city with tanks. Unless you were in the military and there you will never understand when I say we lost.
My uncle played this song when he flew helis and the vietnamese locals whould try and sing it ! And on Operation Hastings my uncle could hear the North Vietnamese playing this song while they were trying to shoot down his helicopter !
We should all show the boys some respect. I am so sick of governments sending guys as young as me (18) off to war. I have several friends in the military, they are in there to do there bit for their country, selflessly and bravely. Soldiers don't care about politics, they're just there to do a job and follow orders and you can't blame them for that. People should just be grateful their country is safe and it isn't you over there. From England.
the vietnam war was about profiteering and warmongering but that doesnt mean these men dont deserve thanks they fought hard and went through hell even though the reason for the war wasnt really valid. And for that i truly thank you
were studying vietnam in history... American GI's and soldiers are heroes.. no matter what... you wanna get angry about the war? get angry at westmoreland, mcnamara, johnson, kissinger, nixon and every other politician and brass who betrayed the average american soldier. they deserve our respect. they were brave and didnt look back.. they are HEROES!
America made mistakes. We should respect the vets for fighting this hard war. Not just this war. And do not forget the VC too. Thier troops were very young. U can blame USA for cruelty. But remember, the USA got us where we are today.
@jlennon555 I'll say it again... at least we don't SUCK AT SOCCER! This beeyatch jlennon555 is going to all the Vietnam clips with the same song, 117th verse. Flip that record over!
I got your personal message. I have to assume you are very young to make such ignorant and inflamatory remarks to an American citizen. I don't give a rats ass what part of the world you are in...you and your ilk, for such degrading comments about the USA, should be off connection with the rest of the world. You want hatred? Give me your name and location and I'll show you msome hatred you little weasly punk
Well done again Blackadder. I have alot of respect for you vets. (Im not even American, Im Canadian but quite a few of our boys joined up down south and went.). Thank you..
my grandad served in WWI; my father in WWII; my brother in Viet Nam...F--- you pieces of shit who want to ridicule that group of people. Shame on you, and get OUT of this country.
