If you research VietNam/US history as far back as 1919, your opinion,like mine,might change.In1945,end of WW2,HoChiMinh asked Pres.Truman to support a free democracy in VN.At that time Ho was seeking to have close ties w/US. Truman instead supported France and,in so doing,we became a hostile aggressor,w/France,against the VN-ese fighting their War of Independence.There was no N&SVietNam at this time.That artifical line was drawn by the UN,not the VietN-ese.

I returned in 1971 from VN served with the 173rd Airborne, got three "welcome homes" and no "thanks for servings" but I would have done it all over anyway. That isn't why we (or at least I) volunteered. I am now 60 and am proud of our military and all who served.

I was a Senior in high school when the last US troops pulled out of Vietnam. I had friends and friends older brothers go and serve. So much garbage has been said about the war in the last 40 years that we lost sight of the reality of the times. Most guys who served were either drafted or just doing the patriotic thing as their forefathers have always done in this country.
