  • 1800 is not a new century, it's the last year of the old. Just hold on for another year.

  • How amazing it would have been to kiss my gf on new years eve 1999 and say "now I've kissed you through two mellenia". Damn the year I was born...

  • If only I were old enough to have had a girlfriend in 2000. Now I will never get the chance to use this wonderful quote...

Anyone woman looking for a 107 year old man on new years eve 2099, call me ;).

  • This scene is so beautifully shot by cameraman Rudolph Maté!

Vivien looks heavenly beautiful in this film!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VIVIEN! they were brilliant together. I love this movie!

  • TCM will be airing this film on July 25th & I can hardly wait since I've been dying to see it!

  • This is my all-time favorite Leigh/Olivier film! And this is, IMO, the very best scene in this movie. The haunting song, the touching words they are saying to each other and these two are so beautiful together! It gives me chills to hear him ask her that she would never leave him. Larry and Vivien were divine.

  • later in this film, when emma-vivien heard the news of nelson,s death, and the man becomes to cry..and her expresion never changes but,,,you can feel and read in her face her most intimate feelings..well, i consider vivien..for this scene, in particular ,deserves an oscar nomination. many of my friends agreed with me. her face, in that scene is a MASTER CLASS of acting. carlos

  • have you the scene where vivien runs from that sofa to the balcony to see nelson waiting her outside??...i have NEVER seen such pasion and love in a movie scene, except in this. the way it was done, with the wind blowing her dress, how she runs, HOW SHE LOOKS to him!!!...my heart is beating quick only just remembering it. churchill said "she,s the most beautiful girl I have ever seen". I agree with him!!!!!!. Carlos (sorry, again, for my english)

  • Two things. One - in this wonderful movie I heard Danny Boy for the first time. I was like 13 or 14 and cried like a baby. Now I'm 26 and it still breaks my heart in a powerful way...

Two - after all those years I also still can't belive that Vivien and Olivier were really existed. Absolutely gorgeous couple. You can see the love glowing through them. Why their fairytale have ended in such a tragic way? Another example of a brutal reality.

  • i COULDN'T WAIT TILL THIS MOVIE HIT DVDS..LOVE OLIVIER..

  • beautiful vivien leigh, she shines in every aspect...it,s amazing such an actress with so few movies, to win 2 oscars, dying so young and to have such an impact. but, vivien is unique..and we are blessed to have her films. never will fade her impact. never..lucas

  • I really really love this movie! I am glad that I have it on DVD

  • I'm a romantic fool, and this is one of the most painfully romantic scenes ever put on film. It gives me chills, with the sailors chorus singing "Londonderry Air" in the backgound.

"Now I've kissed you through two centuries." Chill-time!

  • @edwardjames50 I completely agree with you...It,s the best version I have ever heard of that beauriful song. You are not a fool, just romantic, and sensible to wondeful things. who can be "cold" with a scene like this?- And Vivien is just a dream...a wonderful dream...Carlos

  • great movie.

  • i never seen this movie but it reminds me of my life :(

1800 sounds strange lol its freakin 2000 now.

Viv always seems to be playin Scarlet in other movies too, except for Streetcar named Desire.

  • Lord, She was one of the most beautiful women to ever live- so exquisite. love this scene

  • I read this was Winston Churchill's favorite film, he saw it 83 times!

  • I was looking for the best version of LONDONDERRY AIR. I chose this version....and..OH!!, Vivien,s face!!, that wonderful B&W photography...well... that dialogue..." a beginning of a new life, a life without you..". I CHOOSE EVERYTHING!!. Carlos

  • i love this film, where could i buy it ??

  • You can get it on amazon...that's where I got mine. Thanks for watching!!

  • Awesome, I love this excerpt from the film.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  • I bet they are even better than Nelson and Lady Hamilton were in real life...

  • I know that Olivier was heavily made-up, but for some reason

his looks became what I compared all other to.

Those eyes.. . . . . All these years since, he is still the most

    handsome man I've ever seen. . .

  • SNAP!!!! We are so on the same wave-length!!!

  • Noone has eyes like that, not even Cagney.

The most moving seen anywhere : his death-scene

    is absolutely heart-breaking.

  • I know!! Olivier is sensational!!! I love him!!

  • Love this film.

  • "Thank God I have done my duty"

  • Thanks for posting. I love this film!

  • You're welcome!! Me too!

  • I've never seen the film. Do u recomend it?

  • DO I?!?!? This is my favourite film and in my opinion the best film ever made!! It is simply wonderful in every single way! Larry and Viv are magnificent!

  • You and me both, Cagney!!!

  • WOOP! Great to see someone else who thinks the same!! Thank you for watching!

  • I LOVE SIR LAURENCE OLIVIER!!! HE ROCKS MY SOCKS!!! lol. I wish he were still alive...

  • Join the club!!! I wish it with all my heart! Thank you for watching!

  • can they get any hotter??

  • No sir!

  • Still, I digress, thank you for the clip. Always nice to see older films represented on the tube. :)

  • Wow, give me "I Remember Nelson" over this any day. Nelson wasn't perfect, Hamilton, wasn't, and Nelson's wife wasn't. Also, I give the makeup and clothing credit, but Olivier doesn't really look all that much like Nelson.

On top of that, the Hardy hate is appalling.

  • One of my favorite films! Thanks for posting this clip.

  • Same... possibly my actual favourite film!! You're very welcome!! Thanks for watching!

  • I am SOOO in love with this scene that..don´t laugh at me please..but at 12 am, the 31 of December 1999 I kiss my boy friend and I told him the same words Nelson told Emma.".Now I kiss you through two centuries." Sorry my poor english.I LOVE Vivien!! Carlos from Argentina.

  • I'm not laughing...that's very romantic!! Go you!! Woah! If I could speak another language like you speak English, I'd be very proud of myself!! I LOVE Vivien too!! Thanks for watching!

  • Check out portraits of the real Hamilton and Lady Emma; they were absolutely beautiful and at least equal Olivier and Leigh.

Hardy let down Nelson by neglecting Emma who died poor and alone.

  • I know!! Weren't they romantic!! That bit always makes me cry in this movie - when he's dying and is frightened for Emma!! :( Why didn't Hardy help her?? Do you know?

  • Hardy did not help Emma because of misplaced loyalty to the dreadful Mrs Hamilton and the mores of the time. Nelson gave an arm and an eye and his life, but apparently that was not enough for Hardy whom I have loathed ever since I researched this tragic affair.

His behavior is shameful and I cannot believe this woman was treated so badly, after all she did give him a beautiful baby girl, Honoria.

  • THAT IS SO MEAN!!! I hate him too!!! Thank you so much for that piece of trivia!! And thank you again for watching this video!!

  • My pleasure...I can't wait to get this DVD. I looked up the portraits of Nelson and Emma again and cannot believe how attractive they both were, and how ugly Mrs Nelson was! Yikes!

  • Ha!! What brought them together?? Have you seen the whole movie?

  • Love Vivien and Olivier in this movie! Goes to my playlist:)

  • It's one of my favourites too! It's just perfect!

  • My favorite movie!

  • WOO!! Isn't it just WONDERFUL!!?? Thank you so much for watching!

  • thanks for posting....best scene in that movie.

  • Probably mine too!! You're welcome!

  • thanks for posting..i dont know how to do that. love Waterloo Bridge, too! zpeace..

  • Oh my goodness, I just saw this a couple weeks ago. A great movie. They sure had their themes these old movies, innuendo, scandal, just like today. People sometimes think these are so fluffy, NOT. I like alot of the old movies because there's honor in many of them for God, and others. Those are gone today. Thanks.

  • You're welcome...this is one of my favourite movies ever! You're so right...they don't make movies like this any more...

  • Oooh. That song! I love that song!

  • Hi!! Thanks for commenting!!! I simply LOVE the music too...fits in perfectly!!

  • I absolutely loved this movie.... I was sobbing by the end of it...

  • I know...isn't tragic!!!! Thanks for commenting!!!

  • Vivien Leigh is just absolutely beautiful

  • I'm in the process of trying to put it on...but now I'm trying to find a new movie-maker; windows movie maker is lousy!! Any suggestions???? I'm dying to out it on!!!

Oh my goodness!!! Have you seen 21 Days???? Is it good? I REALLY want to see that one!!!!!!

  • i did see it......i dont remeber what its about cause i saw it when i was 6 years old and none of the local video stores have it.....but i do remember liking it though....so i do recommend it and u can see a clip of it on youtube actually.....just type in 21 days movie

  • Two enormous talents! Thanks for posting this clip!

  • That's okay...I LOVE it!!

  • Just heard that Winston Churchill watched this movie repeatedly during the blitz on Britain. I guess he found Lord Nelson inspiring.

  • Yes, it was Winston Churchill's favourite movie; he claimed to have seen it 83 times!!!

    Thanks for commenting!!! :)

  • Ha! Wow 83 times! Thanks for the info. I haven't seen the movie yet but I plan too.

  • That's okay! I strongly advise you do... it's amazing!! Thanks again for commenting!

  • Thank you for all your comments! I really appreciate them!! Thanks!

  • Laurence Olivier was truly a great actor

  • I really think this is my favorite moment in this film. It's so well written, the beautiful music, the splendid B&W photography. I could watch it again and again... Thanks for the post.

  • It's always wonderful to see Vivien Leigh --- pre-Scarlett O'Hara.

  • Actually this was after Scarlett O'Hara. This movie was made in 1941 and GWTW was made in 1939.

  • "Lady Hamilton" was made 2 years later.
