In general I feel some resentment towards Hitoshi Sakimoto for replacing Uematsu which colors my opinion of his work, but this particular piece I really do like a lot.
I absolutely love this in FFTA2, it stands apart in the game. It's the most epic boss music ever. I've been trying to track it down, had no idea it was in FFXII (never played it)! Thanks!
Magicite, Sandsea, Other pull offs were momentairy fangasms. However they had no use. No fun. Just something to gaze at.
This game's max potential was quite high. Unfortuantately it was not reached.
Even the ending was subpar. Explaining what happened, not shoing it. Penelo's hairstyle at the end looked better then the whole game. The final boss made the game seem short.
FFTA1 had extra missions if you played through it twice, but I don't think FFTA2 did that. FFTA2 also took out link battles...
I've already fought Adelle while Illua is possessing her, It hasn't taken TOO long to get there, but knowing I'm almost done saddens me, as the plot seems to be one I wish would never end.
*sigh*
When will they maken that epic handheld system that can hold an epic game that takes atleast one year for a pro to beat?
i know what you mean and wish they would expand the scope of the game even more in ffta 3 if it lays in the future the story overall in this game was cool cuz of how much it branched off into other sub stories from the main story.......
The Summons took too long to generate and did not last long enough to matter.
Ultimate skills/Limit break/Mist/Overdrives were too erratic to rely on.
Having fireicethunder 12and3, aero1and2and only one water skill was pathetic.
Having no earth magic when most monsters are weak against earth element was worse. Being able to purchase earth weapons 'after' those monsters are 1HIT'KOs. Weapons that outweight the elementuse.
FFXII Was a magor breakthrew with battle systems, graphics, and overall comp.
It was fantastic.
Not the standard FF game, it was different, such as the FFTA games are.
It did have holes.
I personally disliked using a bunnygirl with her ass hanging out, while unable to use a Bangaa. However bangaas wondered the feilds and were friendly allies.
You even Guest one for a mission.
Main character had no personality.
Magic/skill system was terrible.Needing points to wear a hat.
Have you tried mixing Ozmone Plains (FFXII) and the FFTA version of the same song? I'm curious about the results, but my skill is insufficient for completing such task.
I thought the music of FFXII was all crap with the exception of this one song.
I also think FFXII is just an awful game in general. The story never gets anywhere, and the characters are boring. The gameplay featured too much dungeon-crawling, and the battle system was so unlikeable--I used to play FFXI, by the way, so it wasn't entirely new for me.
FFTA2 is great though. I actually liked Vaan and Penelo more in FFTA2 than I did in FFXII. I like all the Tactics games. I wish they'd make more.
I haven't played FFTA2 yet, but the PSX Tactics is centered on story/gameplay for the most part. It definitely has one of the most expansive tales out of the Ivalice game, not counting Vagrant Story since I haven't played that either. FFXII has a lot of story behind it, just not much presented to you throughout the game.
@MAZZ0Murder Hello three year old comment. You may very well have played this game in the meantime, but I just wanted to let you know FFTA2's story is weak as all hell. The main storyline anyway. It's basically "We need to have adventures until I go home. Also there is an antagonist now for some reason".
The sidequests are quite charming, and have a lot of fun plot threads running throughout, and personally I found them far more engaging than the slapdash main plot.
@ShadyHitchhiker@RetroJape yeah I finished FFTA2. And yeah, you need to play the side stories a lot in that game, but even then there isn't too much going for Luso
I see where Blvk is coming from but it really doesn't matter. The game is just great even if it did use the same world name like 3 times or more. Plus the music is good.
regardless of concept or not, it was created in the PS1 era in FFt, it is an undeniable fact, a fact that shows laziness, and a fact blind-folded fanboys will say anything to protect
Ivalice is a world referred to by name, and nothing else. Saying that Square Enix is lazy for using the same name to call their world carries about as much water as saying Nintendo is lazy for re-using the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario's sequels, it really makes no sense.
Also, I wouldn't try to defend any arguments thrown at you later by branding us all as fanboys, we all just have one thing in common: spotting the flaws on your argument. And believe me, there are plenty of them.
Mushroom Kingdom has been known for being used repeatedly for like 20 years, and FF as been know for using A NEW WORLD in each main title ever since the FF2, breaking this rule shows simply laziness nothing else
The 2 greatest amounts of laziness Square has ever shown was using the same monster models from FF9 in FFCC and using the exact same world lay out for FFX and FFX-2
And if you say, Ohhhh but theyre from the same FF era, guess what?
it is u that shouldnt be talking, FFX and FFX-2 is part one and part 2, in the same world, of cause the layout is the same. and about reusing the same monster model, FF game is known about using the same items name, monsters and (non-main)char name IN DIFFERENT UNIVERSW/WORLD w/ a different story FOR THE MEAN SERIES FOR MANY YEARS. chronicles has a world of it own and story continous based on how it 1st established, i have no complains for it as i know it is NOT IN THE MAIN SERIES
and if Ivalice shall have games and/or continous with the Tactic story, i will not complain either, cos it is a FUKING spin-off to begin with. MAIN TITLE should always be in a orginal world, it ias happen for like 11 games and lasted almost 20 years. it was ashame for them to break this and there shouldnt be excauses to reuse a world in the main story at the 1st place. they could have used it as a major spin off, which Ivalice belongs to
Make your own games then, you talk as if Square has ripped you off big time. Or maybe you haven't played FFs at all and you try to talk smart to piss people off.
u r the one that hasnt played ff, i have played them all except 11, as i long time fan i felt disappointed, unlike, u noob, who has no taste and cannot even critise the obvious
Wow, can't argue there Sherlock! After playing almost all of them, and here you are complaining how lazy Square is? What are you a retard? For me it'll just take me at least three failed games to realize and I will feel dumb, and now I imagine how broken you really are after freaking wasting money and years!!! Slow, slow, slow.
Ok, if you're going to prove a point, learn some decent grammar. 10-12ish hours? You've got to be kidding me. The story doesn't come to a stop. Sounds like you were horrible at the game and just quit because you have a lack of persistence. You may have claimed to play all of the FFs except 11, but you sure as hell sound like you haven't even beaten one.
Awesome song, I like the chiming of the bells that starts at around 0:55. It's sort of hard to hear but it give the music a fairly heavy feeling. Overall I feel the song is appropriate for the moment when one gets nuked off of Ivalice by Giga Flare =P
Ramza and Alma survive the battle with Altima somehow, as it shows in the ending movie. They're just never heard from in that area again. But seeing how the part of Ivalice in FFT theoretically is only the western most part of the world, they could have gone to the areas introduced in FFXII. Still, a direct sequel seems very unlikely at this point.
I'd highly recommend that you do, Tactics is really just one of those games I could play for literally 10+ hours and not get bored of it one bit.
Even FFTA is the ultimate travel companion, I played it throughout the eight hour ride to Upstate New York, and it felt like nothing in the end.
I'm rambling, but playing both of these games in the summer really made me cherish the experience. I dunno why, but the lazy afternoons of Summer vacation are good times to play games.
Heh, without even checking I immediately knew what part you were talking about. Yeah, I love that part of the song myself. FFXII did a real good job of giving an epic feel to the battles, especially in those parts, and even the very beginning of the fight, where you draw your weapons and charge at the boss with the opening playing.
I just hope FFTA2 has more or less of the same feel.
First i SO MUCH hated Ivalice and such.
Hitoshu was like my personal enemy for replacing Uematsu.
But now i realized that FFT,FFTA2 and FFXII is great games!
And Hitoshi didn't kill Uematsu,he just replaced them, both of them are great composers.
So YAY! for Ivalice.

The world of Ivalice existed in concept only. And it was barely developed in previous games.
