My step-dad loves Bruce Springsteen and for the longest time I didn't get it. Then I heard this song and I finally understood what Springsteen is about. It's about working to make the best out of any situation and hoping to try and do better knowing that things may never get better. It's so grim and dark yet so American in it's optimism.

@1GODofWAR2 Springsteen is such a grossly underrated lead guitarist. He always plays tasteful solos that add to the song. It's always a pleasure when he plays solos because he usually relegates it to Little Stevie or Nils but he is so meticulous
